Gurmire is satisfied with his wait, as Lirabelle strikes twice with her flail, and the creature falls down, finally destroyed! Macron smiles with pleasure at your prowess, his dead teeth a pale yellow in the dim light. Sssssecret… safe… yes. Ssssafe;

Feel free to heal Gurmire, who is down 10 HP, while making the below checks.

Now that the (mean) undead are destroyed, you can examine this place along with your (nice) undead friend! The mural here depicts a figure who's performing some sort of magical ritual over an expanse of ocean. His arms raised, the figure beckons to something massive and dark rising from beneath the waves.

The second set of stairs rises to another chamber. The twenty-foot tall statue inside is of a frightening, four-tentacled being that looks like this.

Examining the mural:

DC 13 Absalom Lore, Culture, Religion on Mural:
This is a depiction of Aroden raising the Starstone and the Isle of Kortos from the depths of the ocean.

Crit Success of 23 or more on the same Absalom Lore, Culture, Religion check above:
The depiction does not exactly match that famous event; the affected patch of the ocean seems too small to be the island, and the figure’s left hand has barely visible webbing between the fingers.

Examining the sStatue:

DC 15 Occult or Religion or Demon Lore:
This is a depiction of Dagon, demon lord of the sea, sea monsters, and deformity.

Examining the materials used for both mural and the statue:

DC 15 Crafting (any art) or Art Lore:
The artistry of both the mural and the statue is of the highest quality and likely cost hundreds of gold each to construct.

Afterwards, she examines the mural.
Lore (Absalom), Mural: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28

"Well, that's interesting. Gurmire, you're right that the mural appears to be depicting Aroden raising the Starstone and the Isle of Kortos from the ocean." Pip bites her lip and continues. "But it's off. My family has lived in Absalom for generations, and I've studied every inch of this island and its history." She points to the picture. "Take a closer look. That patch of ocean? It's too small to be the island.

"Now, look at this," Pip points. "See? The figure has webbing on his fingers. Now... we all know that the local gillmen population claim to be the last of the true Azlanti, and many claim heritage from Aroden himself... But Aroden in all of the depictions made during his lifetime was human. As mysterious as his disappearance was... He was the god of humanity. The historical record has been unanimous that he was an unaltered Azlanti human."

Occultism, Statue: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28

"Now... Gurmire is correct that the statue is one of Dagon, demon lord of the sea, and god of sea monsters and deformities. Dagon is the 'Shadow of the Sea'. His worshippers aren't usually gillmen... He attracts boggards, skum, suahagin and the like. Do you think that the mural and the statue are connected? What links them other than the sea itself?"

Bardic Lore (Art): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16

"Actually, maybe they are both here just because they are sea art... the artistry here is really quite good, and both must have been commissioned for hundreds of gold." Pip considers. "I think we should note where in the chamber they were found, for provenance, and arrange to take both back to the Society. They should be studied by historians better than me."

Macron wheezes… Yes… lead me…… back to the living. Yessss, my ssssecret… He softly chuckles to himself; his laugh sounds like a corpse sighing out its last breath air (which, really, isn't much different from what he's doing anyway…)

As affectionate as you may have become for the ghoul, you wonder if this is, perhaps, an acquired taste. How exactly he will be received, after traveling with you from the halls of the dead to the halls of the living? You'll at least have to get him past the Goblin King, who will surely want to be regaled with tales of your daring!

It may be a good idea to formulate some kind of plan on getting macron out of here. You are also welcome to just try and see what happens if you bring a ghoul to the theater.

We are the Pathfinders, still ready to explore
We traveled through the tunnels in style
Facing down hired thugs and ravening crocodiles

As Gurmire burnt zombie brutes crispy in a fire
Our warriors they cut and slashed with swordy blades
While Schurk peddled greebles, unafraid
Through blood and smoke we rallied and did our part
Making maps, finding papers and monstrous art
But most precious of our memories that we did today
Was the time we enacted the King's fantastic play!

Macron

You make your final report to Dreng. He listens intently to your story and nods eagerly at all details, but the presence of Macron causes him to stare wide‑eyed. I've heard rumors of ancient places beneath the city where living prisoners were entombed, but up until now did not have any direct evidence. Now, we know about this tragedy that happened right under our feet in Absalom.

Dreng assures you that he can find a place for Marcon to safely tell his story, and evade detection until then. As usual, Dreng has many questions to ask and is eager to learn all he can…

The Theater

As for the Crookedtoes, you have performed an important service for the Crookedtoes. The goblins now have a route to legal ownership of the playhouse, and Zusgut is pleased with the outcome. He takes up Pip on her offer of legal counsel. Packet and Shwurk are soon called into service, where they learn all about how the Crookedtoes do "practical effects." (Zusgut refuses to do any of that CGI (Caster Generated Illusion) stuff — it looks way too fake!

Ogren's Family

Orgren visits Velkik, the Crookedtoes' resident cleric of Sarenrae and rememberer-of-the-records. The old goblin is nearly blind and demands Orgren pray to Sarenrae with her by staring directly at the sun for an hour. After all, adoring the biggest fire around (the sun) must be the best way to venerate the biggest and baddest fire goddess around (Sarenrae)!

After praying together, Orgren blins the sunspots out of his eyes. Velkik sits down and thinks about the names "Shirgen and Osherd Bound"…

How she answers is up to you, Orgren. I can write "member of the Crookedtoes" on your chronicle, or you can resolve this at a later date!

Next he gives Packet a smile. "Packet, where did you get that hat? I enjoyed it so much. Also you fish really well!"

He then tries to find moment to ask Pip in a low voice, "Uhhh, would you mind answering a regal question? If I accept being part of the Crookedtoes here.... um, do I have to give up being part of the Deepwall Clan? Oh also have a smokey rose! They break easy but are beautiful!"

He finally moves over to Shwurk, "I want to buy a set of full plate some day soon... Would you mind, um, greebling it for me? I'll pay you!" I don't think I actually can (in the campaign rules) but I'd play it off as him paying you.

Finally, Ogren pulls out one last rose and goes to see Velkik. "Uhh, I was told you might know my parents..."
~~~~~~~~~~
After an hour of retina destroying worship. Ogren sits and watches the woman through watering eyes. He listens as she starts to recount tales of his parents who he never could remember as young tikes. By the end his eyes are watering still but for a different reason. He decides to stay at the theatre, if the King would have him. Ogren is more than happy to run the 'Practical Effects' from above, the risk of him falling and hurting himself pretty low, and maybe, hopefully, help clean up some of that mold.
How she answers is up to you, Orgren. I can write "member of the Crookedtoes" on your chronicle, or you can resolve this at a later date!
Nope this is a great time to resolve it. Thanks for helping to run this as I'm sure that was not included in the scenario!
