”Azadi...” the man answers with a sigh, ”and, no, not all Undine can do that, but we’re descended from water genies and most of us have some kind of special gift.”

The grumpy sailor listens as Tessa begins to make her move on Sandara and suddenly, and inexplicably, feels a pang of jealousy (for which woman it’s hard to say). Closing his eyes he summons a thick fog to cover the part of the deck where the two woman stand. using racial obscuring mist SLA.

”Hey, I heard you talking about the stars,” he says as he emerges from the mist next to them, ”if you’d like, I can help you up to the crows nest where we can see...” as he makes the offer his extends his hand towards Sandara.

WATER GENIE! You've got to be kidding me. How the hell is the ship full of genies? I've never met a genie, now we have a water and and air genie on the same damn ship! HA!" she says, slamming her fist down on the table. "Amazing!"

Turning to look for Harmony, she sees her furiously slaving away in the kitchen. "Hey Vi! WE'VE GOT TWO GENIES HERE! You believe that!? What would your mother say about that one! Ha!"

Later
Everything had been going perfectly until the water genie had shown up amazingly at the same time that this fog had come out of nowhere. Stepping in front of Azadi so that Sandara can't possibly take his hand, she reaches out with her own hands and joins Azadi's two hands together. "Look, I like you Azoggi, I do. You're good people. However, now is not the time. Ok?"

Pointing up at the crows nest she says "I tell you what. Why don't you head up there and scout it our for us, hmmm? Maybe you can drop some of that water on your pants like you did for me yesterday? Maybe cool off a bit? Hmmm?"

She pats him on the back and turns around as she hooks her arm around Sandara's. "Or stay here if you like. We were just leaving and I'm stealing the starlight for myself."

Tiefling Fighter/Investigator 1

”Oh, Teressa, I didn’t see you there,” Azadi answers as if he hadn’t heard half of what she said, ”You can tag along too if you want to come up to the crow’s nest, I think I could probably help you climb too...”

RETIRED - married and living happily ever after.

Taking 10 on cooking.

Cooking is hard. Harmony ends the day with a new found respect for any number of people she's met in her life and a certain amount of... annoyance... at Ambrose for just how much he appears to have drunk.

Her distemper is expressed in slightly violent grog pouring, resulting in more than one spillage. Tessa's antics don't seem to impress her overly either and the woman gets water with a tinge of rum in it for color rather than anything actually approaching alcohol.

"You've caused enough trouble already!" Harmony snarks at Tessa's frown and steadfastly refuses to give her any more.

Harmony takes it much easier this evening, taking up position on the capstan and simply fiddling her way through some simple folk songs on her banjo. She intersperses the songs with jokes and soon finds that the more crude and filthy they are, the more the crew enjoys them.

She does however try not to draw too much attention to the redheads... a relatively futile exercise as they do that themselves just fine.

Teressa slides her arm around Sandara's neck and gives Azadi a You should really get lost look, trying to refrain from frowning. "Maybe tomorrow love, we have plans tonight. She has a story she needs to tell me." turning towards Sandara ears she whispers "Don't you?"

Tiefling Fighter/Investigator 1

”Oh, I’m sorry,” Azadi says to Sandara with a little bow, ”I didn’t realize you had given up your right to decide things on your own. That’s a shame, I was so impressed when I heard about how you had refused to let Scourge decide what you could or couldn’t do...”

When rejected, or after any fun that might ensue...
Having been tipped off by Samms that she might be more willing to talk to new recruits than the other officers, Azadi seeks out Cut-Throat Grok and tries to have a conversation with her.

"Stars? Really?" Sandara replies with a smirk and a raised eyebrow. "I would have said something about my beautiful hair," she continues, leaning in. "Or my amazing ass."

She looks up at the sky. "Besides ... there aren't any ... where'd this fog come from?"

"That is strange. It was supposed to be clear tonight," Sandara comments, looking around herself at the mist.

Her eyes narrow suspiciously as Tessa and Azadi begin bantering back and forth. After a moment she holds out her hands defensively. "Hey, look. I'm not trying to start a fight or anything. I'll be over there with the others, ok?" She then walks away towards where a couple of crew members and sitting and playing a game of dice.

'Badger' sighs and runs a hand through her trademark hair. "Look, Donny, or whatever your name is ... Why don't you just save us all the trouble of you trying to kiss my ass and wander back over to where the newbies are gathered. There's nothing I want from you and you really don't to get on my bad side. Ok?"

Believe it or not, that Influence check was successful and 'Badger' Medlar has been elevated from Unfriendly to Indifferent.

Harmony's performance generates another positive reception with sailors laughing and clapping. Some of the comments are quite crude, but considering the crowd, she didn't really expect anything different.

Harmony gets +2 on social checks with the crew for the next 24 hours. Sorry, Harm, that's as good as it gets.

~~~~~
Approaching Cut-Throat Grok, it's easy to see where she got her nickname as a scar-line crosses under her jaw from one side of her neck to the other. It's also clear that the slender half-orc is already three-sheets to the wind.
"Hey, ain't you a cutie," she says, swaying in a little close to the undine. She sways right back out. "If'n yer wanting to be a pirate then you came to the ... urp ... right place. No mistaken' that." She leans in close again, and Azadi is assaulted by her breath. "Say, did you know that ... burppp ... your hair is green?"
That's a successful Influence check and Cut-Throat Grok is Friendly.
There are a lot of RP hooks in there that I'll be happy to continue, but otherwise, I think I've finished with the Night Ship Activities. Once any RP is finished, I'll move us along to the next day.
After Sandara walks off, Tessa grabs Azadi's shoulder and pulls him back to her. "Look friend. I appreciate your persistence, it's admirable. However, we should work some basic ground rules out before we continue. She." Tessa nods to the other redhead "Is off limits. Got that? You can have the other f***ing genie, the bad ass Desna woman, or big ears for all I care. That one though? She's mine. Are we clear?"
Tiefling Fighter/Investigator 1
”My persistence?” Azadi gasps, ”I’m not the one who was groping her, and telling her what to do.”
”Do you even know her name? I’ll promise no more unfortunate weather if you can tell me her actual name right now.”
Tessa rolls her eyes, exhaling loudly "Her name is not what we're talking about here, greengenie. Seriously, can you just swim off in the water or something? Why are you even on the ship anymore!"
Holding up a finger for clarification, she asks "And shouldn't you be an earth or tree genie with those green things on your head? How is water genie green, that just seems off. Are you an algae genie then?". Before she gets too far down this path, she waves both of her hands in front of her. "You know what? Nevermind. We're not having this conversation."
Taking her finger and poking his chest she says "Go. Find. Someone. Else. She's mine. Got it? I don't want to have to hurt you."
”Yes,” Azadi answers Tessa in a whisper, ”I can just swim off... that first morning when we could see Port Peril on the horizon, I could have made that swim easily. I stayed because I didn’t want to leave the rest of you stranded on a strange vessel with nobody to help you. See, that’s the difference between me and you- I care about other people and you only care about yourself. That’s why you don’t even bother to learn anybody’s name.”
Well that did NOT go according to plan, now did it Tessa?
When Azadi says his words, they actually hit home with her and she lets her chin touch her chest as her body slumps from the blow he just delivered to her. With her eyes closed, she draws in a long breath and holds it for a second before opening her eyes and exhaling, walking after the kineticist.
"Azadi, please wait." she calls after him, hustling to not let him make it more than fifteen feet before she reaches out and putting a soft hand on his right shoulders "Hold on, just a moment."
Tiefling Fighter/Investigator 1
Azadi turns back to Tessa. He stills seems upset but his face clearly softens when she uses his actual name. ”Yes, Tessa?” he replies in a genuinely friendly tone.
Seeing the undine upset further reinforces that she had made the correct choice, even if she wanted to be elsewhere. "When I was down on my luck yesterday you stepped up and offered to help me out when you didn't have to. That type of thing goes a long way with me, and I meant what I said. I won't forget it."
"We're all stuck out here against our will for now, but there will come a time when we are going to change that. When that time comes we all need to be united as one if we're going to pull off anything successfully. To do that I'm going to need need allies, not enemies, grudges or doubts. I am not afraid to lead the charge, but I need to know that those behind me that are protecting my ass aren't going to stab me in the back."
"Sometimes I don't think enough before I open my mouth. I'm impulsive and act by my gut. If I think about something too much than I'm likely to get get second thoughts and not pursue the path that my instincts are telling me to. I've survived this far by following them and I don't want to start overthinking things now."
Realizing she's going on far longer than she had intended, she takes a deep breath before apologizing. "If you're going to be around me much the next few weeks, months or however long it takes us to get out of here, I want you know that I'm going to speak first before thinking too much about it. It's what makes me tick, but that doesn't mean I'm selfish or thinking only thinking about myself. I care a great deal for Violet and those that stand by my side."
She extends her hand to offer a shake "I guess what I'm saying is I made a mistake and I'm sorry if I offended you Azoggy." She holds her serious expression for as long as she can until she can't help it and burst into laughter. "Sorry, I couldn't help myself there."
Tiefling Fighter/Investigator 1
”Tessa, you’re charming, and beautiful,” Azadi replies with a half-hearted smile, ”and that’s your problem... You’re obviously not used to anybody telling you no.”
”I forgive you, but if you’re ever going to lead anything well you’re going to have to learn to do better. If you’re going to bully people, like you did to poor Polli earlier, and be bossy all the time either people aren’t going to follow you or you’re going to be just like Plugg and Scourge.”
Female Human Swashbuckler 11| HP: 80/10 | AC: 27, T:18, FF:18 | CMD: 30 | CMB: +8| Fort: +5 | Ref: +14: Will: 3*/+4 | Init: +14 | Perception: +14 | Panache: 4
Tessa smiles a little more broadly at Azadi's stroking of her ego, but the topic quickly sours when he brings up Ms. Piggy the air gengie sylvelf.
Tessa crosses her arms. "She called me a fat, pregnant whore for no good reason! I simply will not tolerate that. I mean, I'm not even eating all that much out here. I'm losing weight if anything! I lost five pounds down cleaning the bilges yesterday for sure! Are you going to tell me she didn't have that coming?"
Shrugging she concludes "Besides. We made up and apologized. We're good now."
She makes a motion with her finger to go back to the beginning, "Oh, and you can say those things any time you like."
Tiefling Fighter/Investigator 1
Azadi lets out a little bit of a weary chuckle. ”Who started all that with Polli, though,” he says rhetorically.
”Listen, I’ll make a deal with you,” he offers, ”every time you handle a situation graciously, I’ll say something about how charming or beautiful you are. How’s that?”
Female Human Swashbuckler 11| HP: 80/10 | AC: 27, T:18, FF:18 | CMD: 30 | CMB: +8| Fort: +5 | Ref: +14: Will: 3*/+4 | Init: +14 | Perception: +14 | Panache: 4
"Deal!" she says. "I'm going to run out of things to handle graciously long before you run out of compliments though, so I may have to improvise."
Tessa grins at Azadi "Oh, and she started it, clearly. I was going to make a toast to her and instead of handing me my cup like I asked she knocked it over and then called me a fat whore. Completely uncalled for and extremely impolite. Can you believe the audacity?"
Nodding she adds "That's why I helped adjust her nose so she could think clearly." Tessa shrugs "Minutes later we were talking all civil again. No worries."
Tessa looks out for Harmony performing for the crowd. She leans back against the railing and smiles, watching her the girl work the crowd. She's really all grown up now. Where did my little fearless follower go?
Tiefling Fighter/Investigator 1
”I think that, maybe, she said those things in anger because you hurt her feelings by ignoring what she said about her heritage and calling her a piggy...” Azadi answers, aware that he has likely surpassed the threshold for advice Tessa might be willing to take in one day.
”We’ll make it a competition...” he suddenly says, hoping to exploit her competitiveness, ”you see how many situations you can respond to graciously and I’ll see how many compliments I can come up with. If you can get me to run out I’ll humiliate myself by getting up in front of everyone at dinner and professing my undying love for you!” His mischievous grin testifies to the joking nature of his offer, but his eyes can’t help but linger on the redhead’s shapely body as she leans back on the railing.
Oh, sorry, I did miss one thing. The three miscreants that ended up being late to roll call, did indeed receive three lashes from the whip each. Master Scourge giving you all an evil smile between each victim.
The morning dawns with the toll of the mast clock and without interference this time, other than some dark glares from those that suffered under Master Scourge's touch last night. Very quickly - and on time - you all arrive on deck to receive your morning biscuit and hear your tasks for the day.
Last night with Azadi
Tessa narrows her eyes, squinting at Azadi as she tries to figure out what game he's playing at. "We'll see. I'm not sure how I feel about this. It's much more entertaining when you just compliment me and I don't have to do anything for it, I think. Why don't we do that for awhile?" She leans over and pats his rear end twice with her right hand and says "Good boy."
Turning, she walks over to listen to Harmony crack jokes and entertain the crowd. Does she always swing her hips like that to flip her skirt up? Yes, yes she does.
Today with Polli
Tessa gets assigned to rope work alongside Polli, the water genie. Or was she the air genie? "Hey Polli! Looks like we get to spend all day together today on rope work! Hey, were you the water genie or the air genie? I met two genies in one day and I can't remember who was who. You said you couldn't fly, so you were the water one?"
Crimson Cog walks by and Tessa points him out to Polli. "Hey, who's that?"
It's clear where 'Crimson' Cog gets his nickname as his neck flushes a deep red and he steps close to lean into Polli's face. "You got a problem with me you little b#*%%! Polli isn't given a chance to respond, not that she could have pulled off that lie. Marisan puts her back into her work, giving it her all as usual. It's tiring, but she soldiers on without complaint. Seeing the others failing to make friends, she shakes her head. "Let me show you how it is done."
She makes her way across the deck to the halfling Rosie Cusswell. "Hello. I am Marisan. You seem like a tough woman. I am a tough woman as well. We should be friends."
"Thank you! Yes, eyeballs and all! She'll f*%@ off alright! Good then!" shout Tessa as the man stomps off.
Tessa sighs and shakes her head "Hey Polli. How about maybe you let me do to the talking? I'm not saying that you shouldn't talk, it's just, well s#~&, that went f$&+ing badly. You piss off enough people around here then they are going to come looking to put a hurting on you, yeah? We don't want you to get hurt, right?"
"Tessa, talk. Polli, uhm, not talk. What is it you are good at by the way?" she asks, genuinely interested.
”What, no... I...” Azadi sputters as Syl swings away, ”I meant I could dump water on you...”
oh hells, that’s not going to be good...
When he gets a free moment, he hurried down to the deck. Signaling Tessa and Polli to follow him he hustles over to Sandara. ”Hey, watch out...” he quietly but urgently tells them all, ”Slippery Syl just told me that Scourge has some plan to get revenge on Sandara for rejecting him... a particularly nasty plan for revenge...”
"Marisan, eh" Rosie responds. "You're a big b%&%%, ain'tcha?" She laughs and gives Marisan a friendly shove. If the small woman isn't as strong as Marisan, it's only by a smidgen. "I bet you could really take some of these goat-f&%%ing, c*&~$##~@*s, and shove 'em up Plugg's tight ass, couldn't ya?"
She seems to think that that's incredibly funny and punches Marisan on the arm.
"Maybe if you took one of the a#!!#*%s by the ears twisted them around and made 'em eat their own cock, they'd give me my fiddle back."
That's a successful Influence check and Rosie is now Friendly.
"Thinking." she says imagining a moment of bliss involving ifre and screaming men in scarves "I am a wizard... sadly without a fireball spell, not that I could cast it yet... I understand, I won't talk to the smelly moronic shipmates with bad teeth and questionable morality." as Azadi arrives "Am I allowed to talk to this one, or is he in the aforementioned list?
"Yes, I could," Marisan agrees, weathering Rosie's good-nature punches without flinching.
"Who took your fiddle? I will see if I can convince them to return it."
Tessa looks up as Azadi arrives "Azadi is fine, you can talk to him. Please do not use a fireball on him though, he makes me wet when I need it."
Tessa's grins but drops the show when Azadi spills the bad news on plans for Sandara. "What? Oh no he's not. Have you warned her yet? We'll pull her aside at supper and talk it out with her. Can it wait that long? No, probably not. Maybe we should go now."
"I'm going." she says as she drops the rope and begins to walk away looking for Sandara.
"Wait... where are you... YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE HELPING ME WITH THIS!" Polli shouts at the fleeing woman, while gesturing sharply to the pile of knotty ropes that plague her days.
Tiefling Fighter/Investigator 1
When their brief on-deck conversation starts to draw attention Azadi rapidly whispers "maybe we better wait; Syl called her our friend and if we piss off Scourge any more it might make things worse, or convince him to move up his timeline? I'm gonna head back up into the rigging, if there's anyone you trust to get word to her, try to pass it on."
With that he quickly climbs back into position.
It sounds like we don't have the option to tell her yet (although my wife is using my phone right now, so I apologize if a work around was found in discord), so might as well move on...
Tessa looks back at Polli who is struggling with the rope duty and the men up ahead who surely will give her s+*~ for not working. Clenching her fists, she spins and goes back to work helping Polli. What was it that Azadi said? Something about this, right?
”Alright Polli, I’ll stay and help. Let’s get this done quickly please.”
Sandara looks around nervously, not wanting to be late for roll call.
"Hey, look, I like you and your friends. You seem like good people. But it sounds like you've got issues between some of you that need to be worked out. Once you figure those out, then maybe we can get to know each other better. Ok?" She smiles at the undine before dashing off to the main deck.
”yeah, that’s fair...” Azadi murmurs as he watches Sandara jog off.
I think we’ve made a little progress though...
***now***
Looking down from the rigging and seeing Tessa working with Polli instead of running off, he makes good on his deal and shouts down, ”Hey, Tessa, your cleavage looks great from up here!”
Catcalls follow, along with other compliments on Tessa's attributes.
"Yeah, and your ass looks great from down here," a man's voice calls out to Azadi from below, but he can't tell from whom it came.
This is followed by even more catcalls and whistles.
Tiefling Fighter/Investigator 1
Azadi laughs and makes a big show of wiggling his ass while he climbs.
Donomsail gets busy trying to catch the rats and vermin that threaten to overrun the ship, at least that was how it was explained to her when she asked about the possibility of keeping them someplace safe instead of tossing them overboard. While standing at the rail tossing the small fuzzy bodies into the ocean and offering small prayers to Gozreh she catches sight of "Badger" once again. "I think we got off to a bit of a bad start last night. Name's Domonsail and the last thing I want to do is have my nose, lips, or any other part of my body on your posterior. Ta be honest all I'm tryin' ta do is figure out who I should throw ma lot in. Seems ta me that one o' these days someone's gonna have 'nuff've Captain Gruffer McGrufferson and those what side wi'im. All I want is to be on whatever side can help me follow the waves that Gozreh's set afore me. Any idea who that might be? "
Other than this conversation she is putting her all into the job, planning on spending some time later making things right with Gozreh
When paid the compliment, Tessa moves her shoulders back and forth quickly a few times for Azadi which has the added benefit of make her chest shake about. Tessa also naturally takes the ass compliment for her own and shakes it as well before getting back to work with Polli. "C'mon, let's get this done so we can get out of here."
"No, no, no. Polli, look. The way you're doing it requires twice as much effort. So do it like this instead, okay? Grab here and pull and hold here to guide it. "
Tessa walks Polli through the process until she seems to get the hang of it.
"You sure do know a lot about ropes..." she mutters, though grateful for the help, so she adds quickly "Not because you're a prostitute used to tying people up! A sailor, maybe?"
busy day at work all, so just move Polli along if you need to.
Tessa continues to show Polli the ropes, literally. She remarks with a nods "Oh yeah, I've spent considerable time on the seas and tying people up for varying reasons. Here, check this out."
Tessa takes the end of a rope and sticks it in her mouth. She moves behind Polli's as she grabs both of her hands, pulling them behind her back. "Hold still, this won't hurt. Just a minute. Almost there." she says she holds the genie still, looping it around her wrists and pulling it tight she finishes "There we go!" as she looks down and admires her handiwork.
"We call that a cuff knot. See how your hands can't get free?" When she does and she struggles to no avail, Tessa remarks. "Here's how this works." She takes another rope and walks her through the steps to recreate the knot.
"What a day! I'm starved." Tessa starts to walk off, calling over her shoulder "See you at supper." as she leaves the genie with her hands tied behind her back, disappearing below deck.
Five minutes later Tessa reappears and unties the sylph. "Works pretty good, right?" Reaching down and tousling her symphony hair she says "Let's go get some grog! It’s been consistently watery and disappointedly weak, hasn’t it?"
Tessa has now healed from all previous injuries and is at full health once again.”
Rosie's eyes look away.
"And ... uh ... I might'a got a little mad and called her a green-skinned, horse-f@!&ing, c~~$. But that's no reason not to give me my fiddle back."
Sooo close!
"Listen to me, redskin," Badger says, looking around to see who might be listening. "If you wanna know who's side to be on, I ain't gonna tell ya. But I can tell ya that yer friends there," she gestures to where Tessa and Polli are coiling ropes. "Are on the wrong side." She waves the priestess away. "Go catch yer damn rats. Yer doin' a pathetic job o' it."
Harmony's Bull Session Rum: 1d3 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0 Con damage
Still need Harmony's two ship actions, but there's not skill roll to fail (unless she tries something sneaky) so I'll move us along to the evening.
Dinner and the 'Bloody Hour' come and Donomsail is call up in front of everyone to be berated for her abysmal performance catching vermin. "Perhaps you feel a kinship with 'em, eh?" Master Scourge says with a sneer before having her remove her robe and delivering three lashes with his whip.
Whip Damage - Non-lethal: 3d3 ⇒ (1, 2, 3) = 6
Everyone is given their rum ration and released for the day.
Need everyone's rum rolls and selection of Night Actions. Polli and Marisan are fatigued.
