The team tries to disable the camera, but all Nikko gets is a blue screen, which is quite a feat on a CastroVAX system.

The inside of the building is quiet and empty, and there's no heat sources indicating any occupation. There are offices, work floors, and other spaces, but there is nothing here that indicates anything out of place or suspicious - it's just what an abandoned office building would look like - abandoned.

The first sign of activity is the elevator, which dings as the group approaches and opens, flooding the floor with light. The light around the fifth floor button - the top floor - is lit up, all others are dark. There is a soft easy-listening Carrion Crooners song playing in the elevator.

Cavaler activates the environmental controls on his armor and unslings his dual crossbolter from over his shoulder. He then affixes his syringe stick to the bayonet bracket on it.

He won't step into the elevator immediately, but check it for traps first.

Twila thoroughly checks the elevator for magical and mecganical traps, and confirms the elevator is safe for transport.

On the fifth floor, several sets of operator and computers desks line the floor of a newsroom. The tables to the northeast and northwest have been left in a state of disrepair, with scattered documents and old office equipment left behind on top of them. The eastern portion of the room is occupied by a stage still set with a dusty news desk and multiple cameras set to film at numerous angles. A dusty reception table to the north sits abandoned, but the rest of the lights and switchboards flash and flicker in full function despite the glaring disarray throughout the rest of the room.

Currently handcuffed to one of the operator tables, working at a computer wired into the machine’s power docket, is none other than Datch. She grins, exclaiming, “Finally! What took you so long?”

I think that Nat 20 on the attack vs Shaq is a Crit, but I don't think you doubled the damage. If it is a Crit, Shaq gets 2 extra Entropy points.

Shaq is a bit taken aback at the sight of Datch chained to a console. Karma, perhaps? He shakes off the distracting thoughts as the firefight breaks out and Cavaler commands the team to Get Red.

Will do, Boss, he replies as he hustles out to the front. He moves a lot faster than you'd expect of such a big guy, easily shouldering past Fussoa and Nikko to take a position in the center of the room. His lash in hand, he strikes Red

Cavaler gets rocked by the mercenaries surprisingly accurate attack, but his armor saves him from being perforated.

"Concentrate your fire on that one." Cavaler points at the merc farthest away from him before he looses two armor piercing bolts at him.

Just Like That!, When you or an ally scores a critical hit against a creature, as a reaction, you can encourage a number of allies equal to your Charisma modifier to continue fighting that creature. For 1 round, the encouraged allies can score a critical hit against the creature on a natural 19 or 20; this effect ends immediately after an encouraged ally scores a critical hit against the target. Once you use this ability, you can’t use it again for 1 minute.

When the blaster fire hits Shaq, his skin seems to glow red for just a moment as extra energy flows into it. His lash immediately whips out and strikes Red when the merc takes his shot.

As long as you have this condition, at the start of your turn each round before you take any actions (or attempt the Reflex saving throw described below), you take the listed amount of damage as fire damage (1d4 in this case). Fire damage from multiple sources that inflict the burning condition is cumulative.

At the end of each round you are burning, you can attempt a Reflex saving throw to remove this condition. The DC of this saving throw is equal to 10 + the amount of fire damage you took this round from the burning condition. If you succeed at this saving throw, you lose the burning condition. You can attempt a new saving throw each round you have this condition, and you receive a +2 bonus for each previous saving throw you’ve attempted in consecutive rounds.

You can also automatically end this condition by jumping into enough water to douse yourself. If you don’t have enough water on hand, you can spend a full action to roll on the ground or otherwise smother the fire to attempt a new saving throw with a +4 bonus (plus any bonuses from previously failed consecutive attempts) to end the condition.

Cavaler attempt to trick the mercenary shooting at him, but the guy wasn't born yesterday. Evading Cavaler's shot is another thing though, and as long as your aim is good, you hit.

Nikko also lands a shot, on the other mercenary, but Twila misses.

Shaq pummels the red mercenary within an inch of its life as the latter takes a shot, then proceeds to rip into orange, who also looks about to topple over when he's done

Nice one Datch says, and starts typing on her keyboard again. The awful piercing feeback noise from the blue mercenary's earpiece is so loud that it's clearly audible over the fighting noise, and the merc spends some time yanking it out of his ear and throwing it at Datch, before shooting hastedly at Shaq, who is getting shot at from both sides.

Either way, he mentally sets his lash to stun before lashing out at the last agent standing.

@Twila & GM. It actually doesn't matter if he's inside or outside of the Arc effect. He would take no damage anyway. He has Friendly Fire: "You can reduce the damage you take from your allies’ attacks and effects by 14 (an amount equal to twice your vanguard level), to a minimum of 0." No action required. So he wouldn't take it, but under certain circumstances he could ignore that and take the damage anyway for Entropy purposes.

Welcome everybody to this play-by-post game. To get this going, I need a few things from you:
- I need you to fill out the RPG Chronicles (you can find the link in the campaign header) with your PFS details and your character level
- On the Maps and Handouts (also linked in the campaign header), I need you to upload a token and enter your Initiative and Perception modifiers.
- Once you have done that, feel free to introduce your character in the gameplay thread

I like to keep a good pace in my games, and would normally ask for a posting frequency of 1/day + 1/weekend. I use the 'two-vote' for moving to new areas. In combat, I usually give people 24 hours to post an action (which is usually more than enough), and I'd either ask the other players to suggest an action or just allow the player to catch up when I don't hear anything after 24 hours. If there are days that you are not available, or if something unexpected comes up, that's of course no problem - if possible, a notification is appreciated.

I have 2 characters available depending on what others are bringing. I'm happy to play either as I enjoy both.

Skorpahlich: level 8, Witchwarper (Enhanced), Intimidator and offensive spellcasting.

XHC-5: aka "Shaq" the Big Man. Level 7 haan xenometric android vanguard. Large size with a reach weapon, melee and battlefield control.

I'm bringing Twila-5, level 5 Ghost Operative. The dicebot likes to make it look like she has terrible aim. She's pretty standard for an operative.

A few notes:
Full profile has not been updated yet in Paizo, *but* I have linked my Hephaistos character sheet to my tagline and also in my Paizo profile, so 100% that is up date at worst.

I've also GMed this scenario but will do my best to not tip spoilers.

For Kludde, the only other scenario in the metaplot that Fussoa has played is 6-03.

Can we play in the high tier if possible? I'll bring my level 8 envoy if we can do that.

I'd be okay if we play low tier though if that allows Nomadical to use Shaq, even though he can't make his free throws!

The operatives have ranged and skills covered, the Envoy is the Face, and we've got a mystic healer. I'll still wait to see what joe brings, rather than pick one and end up duplicating roles.

@Fussoa, why did you not Take 10 on your Trick Attack? You'd auto-Trick any enemy CR 9 or lower. Also, what Debilitating Trick do you normally apply: Flat Footed, Off Target, or something else?

The above is from here. Is there an ability that allows you to Take 10 when you otherwise couldn't? If so I gotta check that out!

At 7th level, Operatives get a feature of Trick Attack called "Specialization Skill Mastery." It's often missed because it's under Trick Attack at the beginning of the class features section, not listed as its own thing and requires reference back to the basic Specialization class feature.

"You become so confident in certain skills that you can use them reliably even under adverse conditions. When attempting a skill check with a skill in which you have the Skill Focus feat, you can take 10 even if stress or distractions would normally prevent you from doing so."

"Your specialization grants you the Skill Focus feat in your specialization’s associated skills,..."

So from 7th onward, you only need to have a bonus to your Specialization's trick attack skill(s) of 10 + Level + X, where X is what CR above your level you want to auto-trick. For Fussoa, at level 8, taking 10 with her +19 lets her auto-trick any CR opponent up to CR 9 (so that X would be 1 for her, since she can only auto-trick opponents 1 level above her.)

Of note, I've also seen Operatives take Skill Focus in Piloting so they can be the Pilot and not have to roll much if ever in starship combat.

@GM: Can you specify which merc is shooting at Shaq, please. He's built to take AOs. But if an operative trick attack succeeds, then the target is flat footed and can't take an AO against that particular operative. Since Shaq can only keep 2 of them covered at once, it would help to know which one is shooting him if they do succeed at their trick attack on him.

Oof, yeah, obviously the first time I have gotten an operative above 7, so I missed it. To answer the question beforehand, it's flatfooted.
