Brief History:
A Mwangi woman of the Bonuwat people, Marisann was born in the city of Mzali. Her parents were devout followers of Desna, which angered the child-god Walkena. His inquisitors chased Marisann's family out of the city, forcing them to flee to Eleder. In the Sargavan capital, her parents grew to hate the Chelaxian colonists who kept her people oppressed, and they trained in the secret fighting technique of capoeira to fight back against them without revealing their battle prowess.

The Mwangi people gained their independence when Marisann was still young, forming the fledgling nation of Vidrian. Her parents still saw fit to pass their fighting style onto her. As she grew up, Marisann dreamed of seeing the wider world, sailing the seas aboard a pirate ship. She traveled to the Shackles to do just that, quickly gaining a small reputation as a skilled dockside brawler. She would soon get her chance to be a pirate, but perhaps not in the way she was intending...
