I'm actually indifferent.

FYI, this was a recommendation in the Councilor's area of responsibility. You can make whatever decision you want, but if you go against your advisor's advice too many times they will resign.

Pyros pauses, considering. "Good points, both of you. Let's start with the people. Surely the merchants will find chances to turn a profit at a fair. As for the nobles, by virtue of their status, they'll have plenty of chances to curry favor. They can afford to miss one. Besides, with no offense meant, Valerie, not all of us were born nobles. This builds our connections with the people, shows them that with effort and perseverance, any can rise in this new land."

Pyros, the one event must have someone assigned to it within 6 days oor it expires. Because it is a Problem, if it fails due to expiration, it will have a negative impact on certain kingdom stats. You also have the option of ranking up the Councilor, which would be similar to claiming a region, i.e. it requires you and the Counsilor to spend 14 days working.

Also, new event is up.

You can get bonuses from certain buildings and kingdom bonuses. Currently you get a +2 for the bulletin board in your capitol. So, make a d20 roll with your bonus and add an extra +2. For now, only Reg should roll as his event will resolve at the same time that Pyros finishes ranking up Tristian.[/ooc]

When the Baron returns from his travels with Tristian, there are new problems besetting the barony. First, and most urgent, the curse of Bald Top Hill is true. Hordes of giant spiders have been attcking villagers and slaughtering livestock. They are also spreading disease. You need to get to Bald Top Hill quickly.

In addition, Kesten awaits with some dire news.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

When you arrive back to the capitol, Kesten is waiting with urgent news.

"Your Grace, I fear their is another matter that requires your attention. There have been reports from across the Narlmarches, many of them. There are trolls in the forest, seemingly a horde of them."

"Rumors have it that they are more than the typical savage beasts; they are banding together and displaying reason and tactics. They group together and attack all at once, plundering villages and carrying away peasants. Even stranger, Kobolds have been spotted amongst their ranks when normally they would be attacked on sight." He hesitates for a moment.

"I'm not certain how reliable these reports are, several of them claim that the trolls carried torches and burned buildings down. They seem to have not been afraid of open flames. That seems to be an exaggeration, perhaps other reports are as well."

"I believe this requires your personal attention. Much of that land is still unclaimed wilderness, but there are numerous tiny settlements in there, and they are all in danger."

Sovereign Court

Oh, btw, Faerin's visit to Bokkem paid off. He has agreed to be the court alchemist in exchange for you building him a shop in the new village you started in the Outskirts.

"Both of these are bad, though I'm sure some of the troll reports are exaggerations like Kesten suggests, but the villages being attacked by giant spiders seems like the more immediate threat. Besdies Player Characters, I will bring along Harrim as he is your only Cleric atm.

You head out to Bald Top Hill, a mere 4 hours North of your capitol. When you arrive, you can see that they did not exagerrate about its strangeness. The entire crown of the hill is devoid of any life, including plants. From a distance, you can just make out what appear to be very ancient standing stone obelisks. As you approach, you can also feel a strong sense of foreboding and a very oppressive atmosphere. The air is unaturally still here.

Now would be the time to tell me of any buffs you prepare.

Harrim will cast Remove Fear (he can cast two of them and they affect 3 targets each, so let me know which 6 people you want to be covered by them), Bless, and Communal Delay Poison. He will cast the bless just before you go to the summit, right after he casts the three remove fears, the delay poison lasts for an hour.
