Regongar Stormborn |
Reg smiles ... in that way that young children have nightmares about. There's a lot of teeth in that smile.
"Beloved Baron ... what would make you think I even HAVE a bad side? Would be like imagining a Baron with a sense of humour. jajajajaja. I seek only to educate: I love you, I love the Lady Faerin; and it would be unfortunate for anyone to test my resolve in this. There's no bad side, I just want people to know me better."
"Because in my case, to know me might not be to love me.

After an uneventful ride and night, you arrive in Restov in the late morning. Kesten leads to to Jamandi's mansion and you are well taken care of. There is a feast scheduled for the next evening, but before then, Jamandi asks to meet with your group in her offices.
When you arrive, Jamandi is there, along with Kesten and a well dressed half-orc wearing the distinctive dueling sword used by the Aldori.
Jamandi Aldori |
"Congratulations on your triumph. I knew I had picked well for this adventure. I also apologize for the situation with Tartuccio, but you must understand that such an important mission forced me to err on the side of caution."
Jamandi waves towards the half-orc.
"This is Kassil Aldori, my adopted son and apprentice. I'd like you to take him with you as my envoy to your new barony."
Octavia Reborn |
Reg smiles ... in that way that young children have nightmares about. There's a lot of teeth in that smile.

Octavia pokes Regongar playfully. "Reg, you're scaring them. Besides, I thought you loved only me? Or was that just for the night you said it?"

"There is no love like ours ... and valuable to note that the Boneyard would be a mercy if someone were to hurt you."
"People make the worst choices sometimes though."Faerin Cordova |
Faerin chuckles at Regongar and Octavia's banter, grinning at the exchange. The druidess studies Kassil quietly as he's introduced, wondering the purpose of having Lady Jamandi's envoy present in the founding lands.
Harrim Highhammer |
Harrim sighs heavily.
Sending someone to keep us in line I suspect, and likely report on our decisions... Bothersome... Oh well.
Harrim, for his part, seems aloof, giving only a small nod of respect to Jamandi.
Regongar Stormborn |
"Of course, Lady Jamandi. The Aldori are always welcome." Pyros says, with not quite a nod, but also not quite a bow.
"As is everyone, correct, your lordship!?!? You might receive any number of offers while we are here, for, ambassadorial & political support. You could accept as many envoys are there are families & governments to send them, right? You would welcome that, wouldn't you ... this is what we talked about on our way here, isn't it? Not everything has to have that ONE last name on it ... or does it?"
Regongar Stormborn |
"Amiri my friend, you are quiet. Are you hungry? I swear there has GOT to be more here to eat than politics ..."
Regongar smiles, the smile of half-orcish mischief
He turns to Pyros
"By your leave, your lordshipness. With your permission, I would seek sustenance with the barbarian."
Pyros Aldori |
"All who are willing to assent to our laws, certainly. No society could function with only swordsmen." Pyros says, with a shake of his head and a smile. What are you getting at? We've been over this.
"Gods keep us all from having to eat politics. Proclamations can't taste good. It was a long trip. Perhaps we should all get something to eat."
Amiri of the Six Bears Tribe |
I'm so sorry! I missed my cue, but I'm still here
Amiri seems to have already wandered off to find food. You find her sitting with her elbows on the table. Despite the provided silverware, she seems to prefer eating with her fingers. At her side is her signature oversized weapon. Her hair looks like someone might have tried to take a brush to it, but gave up almost immediately. Perhaps Svetlana had made an effort? Barely looking up at Regongar as he approaches she says,
"Your talk with Lady Jamandi was getting stale, much like this bread would have if I hadn't liberated it. If you're going to join me, I'll want you to tell me about the battle you must have had with the Stag Lord. It was quiet at the fort when you left, and I'm afraid that between all this feasting and waiting I'll go soft."
Despite the barbarian's protestations about her physical capabilities, she looks just as dangerous as ever.
Galahad0430 |
After your brief meetting with Jamandi, you head out to the main hall where the party is already in full swing. Both the main hall and the adjoining courtyard have tressle tables set up with food and drink aplenty. You see a few familiar faces (Amiri, Jaethal, Linzi) and plenty of others. There are several small groups scattered about having various discussions.
Anyone with Knowledge(nobility or local) can make the appropriate checks. I will list the groups.
You see both Kesten and Linzi talking to a tall, dark haired (with grey at the temples) man. He looks more like a soldier than a noble.
Another group is around another apparent noble. This man has a very haughty look to him.
Standing to one side you see an older man in simple robes. Though he looks out of place, he has a regal bearing and seems to be at ease. You also recognize that he was with Jamandi fighting the Frost Giant the night of the attack on her manor.
A larger group surrounds a woman who is very richly dressed.
There are several other intersting people depending on your Knowledge checks.
Faerin Cordova |
I have neither of these skills.
Faerin approaches the older man from the battle in Jamandi, greeting him with a nod.
Pyros Aldori |
Knowledge(Local): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Knowledge(Nobility): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Pyros glances around the crowd while loading his plate with significantly more food than one might expect of a wiry half-elf.

Reg comes over to Pyros; he was at least as hungry as the half-elf. He couldn't quite place whether the familiar bond, the shifting, or both were making him hungrier, but he was ravenous in any case.
"You know the jokes are about to end, right? When the title is conferred to you, it won't be a joke anymore, your lordshipness."
Reg's toothy wink was handsome; like an uncaged carnivore, but handsome
"Just wanted to make sure you knew that. If anyone else disrespects you, that also will not be a joke ... give me a heads up too, because I will let them know pretty quickly."
Harrim Highhammer |
The true joke, Regongar, are those people that believe they will leave a true lasting mark on things. As they are truly the most foolish of all. Is all he says as he takes part in the food.

Regongar laughs
"For real unmade of Torag? LOL - stop! Forever!!!! Doom!!! Lasting!!! Legacy!!!!!!!!!!!! You have no idea there are even moments, do you? Your god has you SO focused on the end he forgot to give you scripture about everything between then and now!"Regongar laughs again
"Do you think the wind blows to knock things down!?!?!? The wind blows to BLOW. In every moment, with every breeze, soft, hard, enduring, fleeting, passing and stopping. Why does your god even let you breathe? LOL because he knows a LOT more about the wind than you do. Listen for it lost son ... "
Amiri of the Six Bears Tribe |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
"If you're going to fight about religion, do it somewhere else. You're disrupting my meal." Amiri wipes her hands on the tablecloth. "If nothing matters in the end, then what's important is I enjoy my food here and now. And if the individual moment matters before the end, then both of you are making it hard to enjoy this lamb." Amiri gulps down some ale. "I'd move, but I shouldn't have to."
Harrim Highhammer |
Harrim nods at Amiri.
See, this woman understands. We can but do our best, and enjoy the now. Fighting tooth and claw to leave a lasting mark will bring only suffering. He then turns, making no move to take the conversation further from the primally beautiful woman.
As that is asking the impossible. Though you are true in one thing, Groetus knows much more than I do about many things. Tis why I spend so often in contemplative thought. Often, on more than merely the end. The why, how of it, even the why of life. Hoping perhaps, he will deign to share his wisdom further. He takes a long quaff of his mead.
Linzi |
I just perused everyone's characters and I see that those knowledge skills are lacking except for Pyros. Fortunately, you have Linzi along.
Linzi is practically prancing. She is very excited.
"Oh look! Over there!" She points to a small group that seems to be centered around a middle aged woman in very fine clothing.
"That's Natala Surtova!! It's amazing that she has come down here for this celebration!"
Linzi then points to another group on the near side of the room.
That's Count Hannis Drelev. He is not a nice man." Linzi adds with a frown.
"I heard that Jamandi sent him to claim the Glenebon region."
She then points out a tall man on the far side of the room.
"That's Maegar Varn. He's a somewhat famous mercenary captain. His company has a pretty good reputation. I wonder why he is here?"
You notice a man sitting at the end of the table keeping to himself. He is dressed in obviously expensive finery, yet has no entourage. You catch him glancing at you from time to time. When you point him out to Linzi, her face scrunhes up in concentration, but she shaes her head.
"He looks familiar to me, but I don't know who he is."
You also notice a man in a simple robe with a golden symbol of Erastil. You recognize him as the man that stood with Jamandi against the frost giant on the night of the attack on her mansion.
Most of the rest are Restove locals here for the celebration.
I think we had decided that Pyros was getting the title of Baron, if so, let me know who you want to talk to. Again, sorry for disappearing.
Faerin Cordova |
Faerin approaches the man in simple robes bearing the sign of Erastil. While she didn't herself venerate Old Deadeye, she often found common ground with his followers. Also remembering him from the Frost giant battle took her all the way back to the beginning of this expedition.
Faerin Cordova |
"Thank you, Evanki. Please to meet you under less dire circumstances." Faerin says with a smile. "That Lady Jamandi counts one who honors Erastil as a friend speaks well of her."

Team Pyros,
Before I decide who Reg will go over and be d**k-like to, can we please confirm that it will indeed be the Aldori Half-Elf who becomes Baron? I want to make sure Regongar represents ...
Regongar Stormborn |
"Linzi ... would it be wrong if I sent Fury over there and he accidently messed up the Earl of Glendeborn's hair?"
Regongar seems to ponder
"or should we see what Lady Surtova thinks of all this?
Regongar Stormborn |
"I agree, Lady Surtova isn't having enough fun. Let's go see if she's ever met an elemental before!"
The small elemental swirls with excitement, almost as much as Regongar
Linzi |
Linzi looks askance at Reg.
"It would be very bad to pull anything like that with Lady Surtova!" Linzi says in a shcked tone.
"She is probably the most powerful person the room and I don't think she will much of a sense of humor. As for Drelev, I don;t like him, and I would love to see him knocked down a ped, but he is a guest of Lady Jamandi and it would speak ill of us to ruin her party."
Faerin Cordova |
"That makes a lot of sense, actually." Faerin replies with a smile, "Bonds forged sitting around the campfire, or fighting for your lives tend to stick. It's nice to see where we could end up one day."

"It would ruin the party just to joke around, a little? Come on, that dude looks SO pompous. A little elemental flyby ... some drinks are spilled ... some laughs are had ... "ever so sorry your Countship! little elementals can be pure chaos! nice to make your acquaintance though, neighbor!"
Reg smirks
"How could it possibly be better for us to get Amiri drunk!?!?!?"
Regongar Stormborn |

"We're really just going to sit around waiting for everyone's ascension to nobility so you can write about it ...? Wait! Let me help!
There once was a noble Aldori
Who was proper and never quite whorey
They were proper all day
But could use a good lay
and that is the end of our story
I should go to bard school, wow!
Pyros Aldori |
Well, I suppose I should talk to Surtova. Duty calls. Pyros hinks to himself, before ambling over to where she stands, surrounded by lackeys. "What brings a member of the royal family to this humble gathering, your highness? If you don't mind my asking." he says, when he gets the chance.
Amiri of the Six Bears Tribe |
"Make whatever trouble you want, as long as it doesn't interrupt my business with this mutton." A sharks grin creeps across Amiri's face. "Or cause enough of a scene that a good brawl gets started! Just don't expect me to go easy on you!"
Faerin Cordova |
"You would find no within our borders." Faerin says with a smile. "While those who follow the Green Faith may see the whole of nature as beyond the power of any one god, many still spare a word for Erastil before the arrow leaves the bow, and give thanks when a good hunt or harvest feeds the community." she replies.
"I will, of course, speak with our new Baron, but I assure you will be welcomed. I would only ask that the sacred spaces dedicated to The Green, be respected."
Regongar Stormborn |
Okay, 3rd choice it is!
Reg is clearly getting antsy, there's a static developing around him the way it does, Linzi for sure can sense it, and Fury has an electric-blue glow he's starting to shed.
"So let's head to the end of the table. We can be polite and stuff, solve the mystery of the mystery guest! Come on Linzi!"
Regongar walks to the end of the table to the young man dressed in obviously expensive finery who doesn't seem to have any retainers with him. Reg appraoches, clearly tries to tone down his static, and sticks out his hand ...
"Hi! My name is Regongar Stormborn! I was with the team who took out the Stag Lord, I know, right, pretty amazing. Have you ever met an elemental before!? My friend Fury is probably one of the coolest! He's an air elemental. Put your drink down though, I am supposed to be nice to people today, so I think it's fair to warn you, he makes people spill their drinks a lot."
Regongar takes a breath after getting all of that out, and smiles as Fury flies over slowly
