Finally, Jhod also requests an audience. He approaches and bows respectfully. "Your Grace, I was at Oleg's trading post recently, and I noticed old Bokkem standing around , bored woth nothing to do. This is most unfortunate as the old grumbler is an accomplished alchemist. However, the locals there don't really need anything besides the simplest of healing draughts. Then it struck me -- why don't you hire him as your court alchemist? His concotions and tnictures could prove most useful to you in your explorations. Also, it might be cheaper in the long run than buying them from him or some other merchant."
In response to Faerin's suggestion, Jhod brings up the matter of what to do with the Temple of the Elk.
Oleg looks on with approval as the deed is finished. The younger teen just vanishes after Faerin's warnings. The older teen volunteers to stay at Oleg's for a while and help with the repairs. Afterwards, Jhod Kavken approaches your group.
"I was brought to these lands by a vision from Erastil. But those bandits caught me before I could follow the vision. I need you to complete this. Please, find the Temple of the Elk! I've pieced together its location from what I can remember of my visions. It is somewhere in the North Narlmarches. However, I am not strong enough to walk this path myself. Do not reject my plea, good travelers, and I will repay as best as I can. I realize in these dark times, people rarely help each other without some compensation, may Erastil forgive us all. But I am sure my healing abilities will be useful to you."
"Well met, friends. I was on my way to Oleg's Trading Post when I was waylaid by these bandits. I must say, your handling of the situation was rather uncommon for these parts. Usually it's the sword that meets out "justice" here. Either way, I shall make my way to Oleg's, if there is anything you need from there, I am in your debt."
"Praise Erastil! Someone finally drove off those scoundrels! Thank you, stranger. I am Jhod Kravken, from Galt. Those bandits attacked me as I crossed the river. They said they wanted to take me to their leader, make me heal their wounds. Not a chance! The strength granted me by Erastil is for honest folk, not robbers!" |
