This second style to run next to Mobile Bulwark Style would be Archon Style.
This build would be a better all-round protector than the High Guardian version as it's not limited to protecting just it's charge (and itself). On the flip side, it's quite gimmicky with the monk level and not a great fit for the character. I guess you could say Valerie went soul searching after she dropped out from Paladin school. So a few questions for the GM and the current players: What kind of Valerie would you like to see? I'm talking broad strokes here, so would you like an offensive or a more defensive version? How far is it ok to stray from the original and still be Valerie? Or does being Valerie purely depend on the rp character and not so much on the build? How gimmicky can one go?
I should note that Pyros will become more defensive in time, as I take the Crane Style feats.

I wouldn't think you'd want Harrim using up his spell slots for summoning spells. They're much more valuable as cure spells, in my opinion, especially if you're going cleric instead of warpriest (warpriest has Wis-based channels instead of Cha-based channels).
unless those summons took hits instead of the party, then the summons are basically walking cure spells that sometimes hit things ;)

Maybe, but it seems like there's lots of melee characters in this group, and not very many healers. If Harrim is doing something in combat, I think I'd rather it was something that doesn't consume resources, saving his spells for the inevitable patching up afterwards.

for what it is worth, Most of harrims spells are prepared for combat. Most will likely be used for combat, be it buffing, debuffing, or damage. He has no problem with converting some to healing in dire situations, or at the end of the day, but perhaps a wand of infernal healing would be a good purchase for out of combat healing.

Also, realize items are limited to what vendors have available for purchase. Unless someone is making them during downtimes.

Did some more shuffling on Valerie and ended up with a more balanced build I think. She has no gear as I don't know what is available to the characters.
I ditched the tower shield in favor of a heavy shield(for now at least) but am keeping the heavy blades Valerie starts with in game. The idea is for a character that turns defense into offense via the Archon Style chain and Paired Opportunist combined with the Fighter's Tactics Advanced Weapon Training (so not online until next level).
As I mentioned, I made her an Orlovsky as I know she's of noble birth and the Orlovsky's kind of fit with Shelyn lovers.
That and the one documented Orlovsky woman I could find, Sylvanna Orlovsky, bares some resemblance to Valerie based on her description. I'd imagine her as Valerie's older sister or cousin and someone who Valerie was jealous of as she is a military captain, something Valerie would have preferred over a paladin.

Well, tough choices, Octavia and Harrim are in, the first is your only trap disabler, and the second is the only healer. That leaves two slots for four martial types. Regongar and Valerie are in (to be honest, I like all four, but couldn't support an 8 person party. So I went with the first two to respond).
I will send you a list of your starting equipment and secret back story, let me know if you've played the game through so I can save time on writing.

I have between 2-3 openings for this AP. They have just defeated the Stag Lord and established their Barony.
This verison is based off of the Owlcat Games version of Kingmaker. There is a bonus for anyone that chooses to play one of the main NPCs. The NPCs that are available are:
Valerie - Human female Tower Shield Fighter
Harrim - Dwarf male Cleric of Groetus
Octavia - Half-Elf female Transmuter Wizard (with 1 level of Rogue)
Ekundayo - Human male Ranger (archery focus)
If you choose one of these, PM me for more specific details, but ask general questions here. You may submit other characters instead. The character creation rules are at the beginning of this thread.
