I think I have read a story about this. Treasure hunter goes out for treasure, scoffs at rumors of a curse, is first to die and that leaves everyone else trying to survive. Hmmm...

I suspect you'd a bonus for believing in curses.

"I do believe the map will lead us to treasure. And often unexplainable things like premature aging are blamed on curses simply because we haven't discovered the scientific solution quite yet."

"Yes, witches or people who have learned to manipulate the world are real, just like people who have learned how to read, write, and wield a sword are real. But curses...phewy." She waves off the thought. She reaches down and picks up her limited items and gets ready to leave.

Beorn follows behind, wondering if he should have gone into baking instead of barding.

Mrs Turner follows staying close to the bard yearning for some "intelligent" conversation. While the rescued prisoner follows closely behind her. "So you have any good tales?"

Evil GM

The path twists and turns, it seems as if you've had several switchbacks as you journey. You follow a shallow stagnant body of water. Swarms and swarms of hungry bugs flock to the warm blooded food source.

Who has the bug spray on? If you don't I need everyone to make Fortitude DC 12 save.

Calain swats at yet ANOTHER damned bug.
He actually thought to himself that he was glad for his naturally cheerful disposition. Considering the environment and his company, including the annoying Goblin whom he inexplicably kept coming to the aid of, hadn't found a way to get himself killed.

Though the broard shouldered man had to admit that the glimpses he was getting of the green Sneak were only the ones the creature was allowing. He practically melted into the foliage at will....

Evil GM

Aggrah:
you don't detect magic but you do recognize slimy doom disease. The disease damages (heals naturally) but also has a more permanent sense of drain 9permanent without restoration magic).

Slimy doom is DC 14 Fort save but I made it a DC 12 to make it a bit easier for everyone to make.

Beorn I need you to make one more Fort save DC 12. Failure is taking 1 constitution drain.

Tell'im the truth... Keep doin' tha' and he'll go blind. Ulfrec chuckles, a rare moment lately.

Razor Coast, ye'say... don't know much about that, but there were these fella's dressed in sheets with curved blades, I seen once. Made mention of some prince turned sailor.

Damn iffin I didn't want to meet him mi'self, men traveling continents fer his cause. We each have our path. Osprey, they called him in their tongue. A younger man was kind enough to translate.

Well Beorn...You've got the Slimy Doom. Aggrah laughs. But don't worry. Looks like you've got a mild case. You'll be fine. Just give it time.

Ulfrec...Beorn might still go blind. But that's a different malady. If he starts losing his sight, I'll paste his hands with hot peppers. For some reason that usually cures the vision loss.

Evil GM

The group manages to make its way forward through the winding swap land. there are several large splashes in the water.

I need perception checks.

I assuem the order is: Ulfrec/Geri, poke, Bradan, Calain,
Aggrah, Beorn, Dr. Tes. Essentially putting the tracker up front, followed by the sneak, a secondary tracker, brute, fodder, sneak to bring up the rear.

As your group picks its way around the narrow path that runs near the swamp a rapid strike comes out of the water lounging at Calain. A reptilian behemoth, a crocodile of monstrous proportions, is large enough to swallow a horse in one tremendous bite attacks.

bite: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (14) + 18 = 32;damage: 3d6 + 13 ⇒ (6, 6, 1) + 13 = 26
plus grab

cmb vs cmd: 1d20 + 26 ⇒ (4) + 26 = 30

grab:
If a creature with this special attack hits with the indicated attack (usually a claw or bite attack), it deals normal damage and attempts to start a grapple as a free action without provoking an attack of opportunity. Unless otherwise noted, grab can only be used against targets of a size equal to or smaller than the creature with this ability. If the creature can use grab on creatures of other sizes, it is noted in the creature’s Special Attacks line. The creature has the option to conduct the grapple normally, or simply use the part of its body it used in the grab to hold the opponent. If it chooses to do the latter, it takes a –20 penalty on its CMB check to make and maintain the grapple, but does not gain the grappled condition itself. A successful hold does not deal any extra damage unless the creature also has the constrict special attack. If the creature does not constrict, each successful grapple check it makes during successive rounds automatically deals the damage indicated for the attack that established the hold. Otherwise, it deals constriction damage as well (the amount is given in the creature’s descriptive text).
Creatures with the grab special attack receive a +4 bonus on combat maneuver checks made to start and maintain a grapple.

Well, that ain't no shadow... What creeps and crawls, bites and stings!

Ulfrec invokes the power of nature, a whip appearing in his hand... upon a closer look, it is made of hundreds if not thousands of arachnids of various colors, giving it a mottled appearance.

The dwur lashes out!

Geri, stay back boy!

Ulfrec atk, whip of spiders, reach vs touch AC, inspired: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 5 + 1 = 12
Ulfrec dmg, poison DC 11, distraction DC 11, inspired: 1d6 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 2 + 1 = 4

Does the thing get dex/AC penalty for having grappled? With the Hex and a flank, maybe he hit. Sorry, guys... useless.

Spell - Whip of Spiders:
You summon hundreds of Diminutive spiders, which cling together in the form of a whip made for a creature of your size. You can wield this object as if it were an actual whip, except you make a melee touch attack with it instead of a regular attack. Any creature you strike with the whip takes swarm damage as if it were attacked by a spider swarm (1d6 points of damage plus poison and distraction). The swarm whip is able to damage creatures with armor or natural armor, even if a normal whip could not. It cannot be used to make bull rush, grapple, or trip attacks, and (unlike a swarm) is subject to a miss chance for concealment and cover.

The whip is immune to all weapon damage, is never staggered or reduced to a dying state by damage, and is immune to any spell or effect that targets a specific number of creatures (including single-target spells such as disintegrate). The whip takes half again as much damage from spells or effects that affect an area, but since it is considered part of your gear, it takes damage only if you fail a saving throw on a 1 or if it is specifically targeted by an opponent. The whip does not have a swarm’s susceptibility to high winds.

As a standard action, you can transform the whip into a spider swarm (all squares of the swarm must be within 15 feet of you); thereafter it functions as summon swarm. The spider swarm has 3 hit points and persists in that form for 2 rounds or until the end of this spell’s duration, whichever comes first.
