Only if you are walking the streets. So the question is, are Crazy and Hamish stepping into the hedges at the party?
Grandmaster TOZ |
The problem being that there isn't any usable vegetation outside the party, so you would have to dodge patrols to get to some.
Mage of the Wyrmkin |
@Grandmaster TOZ - Is there a place near the party where it is quiet where our party can buff before leaving?
@Hamish - Whisper and myself can already be in a large tree or shrub waiting for you. Perhaps if you put on a small performance for the ladies and you both disappeared in a puff of smoke provided by Crazy Hairy at the end of the performance it might not be so out of place.
It might just look to be intended theatrics and a bombastic getaway.
@Crazy Hairy - Do you have any Smoke Bombs or like alchemical effects that you can use to hide yourself and Hamish before disappearing as part of the act.
Grandmaster TOZ |

It doesn't look like it. You would basically be casting in the street.

Details of the plan.
1)Seaward Gull, Kasimir, Yuri and Oxrax will travel to the pagoda in bird form.
2)Seaward Gull will communicate telepathically with Hamish to inform him when they are within a one round distance from the pagoda.
3)Rokgurn will teleport himself, Whisper, Hamish, Crazy Hairy and Crazy Hairy's familiar inside the pagoda.
This will create a stir at the party but so will turning invisible or a smoke show so we might as well go with the simpler plan.
Does this plan work for everyone?
Hamish Carmody O'Toole |
Not sure... would depend entirely on distance.
more then 100 feet, the eidolon loses half its hit points. Anything from 1000 feet to just under two miles, it loses 75%. Over that its gone for the day.
Perhaps easier plan: The rest fly there and hang out, Rokgurn returns. Hamish stocks up on rum, then unsummons the Gull. Summons a Lillend. It invis's Crazy, Hamish, and itself, while Hamish Overland Flights himself... and we just fly there like normal folk... well, normal folk who can fly.
Well, ok, Hamish and the Lillend can fly... But Crazy's small... I'm sure he wouldn't object to be carried by a hot buxom elven-snake-lady for a few minutes.
Then dismiss the Lillend, spend a minute summoning the gull back, and in we go!
Possibly with a minute or so of invis to go!
Heck the Lillend could even throw a knock spell on the door, before it goes away.
Again, depending on 'as the crow flies' travel time.

@Grandmaster TOZ - My understanding is that an attached Tumor familiar and alchemist would count as one creature in terms of teleportation spells. Do you agree with this?
@Hamish - Your plan splits the party for too long once they reach the pagoda and is complicated. I have revised my plan. It is simple.
Plan A (Crazy Hairy & attached Tumor familiar are one creature) - Best Plan.
1)Rokgurn, Whisper, Kasimir, Yuri and Oxrax will travel to the pagoda in bird form.
2)Rokgurn and Whisper will teleport back once they arrive at the pogoda.
3)Rokgurn will teleport himself, Whisper, Hamish, Seaward Gull, Crazy Hairy and Crazy Hairy's familiar inside the pagoda.
Plan B (Crazy Hairy & attached Tumor familiar count as two creatures) - Workable Plan
1)Rokgurn, Whisper, Kasimir, Yuri and Oxrax will travel to the pagoda in bird form.
2)Rokgurn and Whisper will teleport back once they arrive at the pogoda.
3)Hamish unsummons Seaward Gull
4)Rokgurn will teleport himself, Whisper, Hamish, Crazy Hairy and Crazy Hairy's familiar inside the pagoda.
5)Hamish summons Seaward Gull or casts SM VI as he chooses.
Grandmaster TOZ |
By my reading, the first plan will work. I will have an update up as soon as I have time today.
Crazy Hairy |
Sounds like a plan.
Mage of the Wyrmkin |
@Grandmaster TOZ - My understanding of the Elemental Body type spells is that you gain the abilities of the elemental type chosen plus any extras provided by the tier of spell cast. So for EB IV you would be immune to bleed damage, critical hits, sneak attacks, DR 5/- plus any abilities you would get for any size of elemental from small to huge.
Is this your understanding as well?
Grandmaster TOZ |
Yep, it saved my Skull and Shackles Druid from a 17th level Gunslinger critting him.
Hamish Carmody O'Toole |
Say, was Hamish able to find a Blue Book when they arrived in town?
I know I mentioned it, just not sure if he was successful or not.
Grandmaster TOZ |
As you haven't successfully navigated the city with the patrols out, he has not yet acquired the book. Hopefully you will get a chance soon. More info to follow today!
Grandmaster TOZ |
I believe you can choose to target just the specific effect. I don't believe you can do it with an area dispel.
Grandmaster TOZ |
I feel that it does. The opening part is a little rough in PbP with the investigation part. Hopefully it was entertaining enough despite Hamish and Crazy doing the heavy lifting.
I felt pretty stupid in not dispelling the brands when I played, so we fell afoul of the awareness points system. It's set up to be very hard however, as you need a constant mind blank or similar protections to avoid the Red Mantis' weekly divination spells.
Hamish Carmody O'Toole |
This is the first time I've used Hamish in a pbp environment.
Gives me lots of opportunities to RP the oddball properly.
The figurine I have for him in face to face games, is exactly the same as the token too. And the Gull's figurine is awesome! (bought a little miniature galleon figure from some dollhouse/historical recreation company. It looks very close to its map token!
Hamish is little more then window dressing in an actual fight though (he's not even proficient in that cutlass he wields), so I had my moment. =)

@Grandmaster TOZ - I really do not like surprise debuffs on my characters so that brand was coming off by hell or high water. As for them finding out about us I figure that it is just a matter of time (or speed of plot) for the pieces to fall together. :)
@Hamish - Your character is really fun to watch if not a bit irritating to get along with in-character. His antics are even better in PbP as they do not distract from the time needed to finish a game in a four hour slot.
I am pretty happy to be able to play my -1. I retrained his animal companion to the Eagle domain which makes him feel all fresh and new again. I really like the figment/sage familiar over the animal companion. Animal Companions are great for the first 10-11 levels but have a hard time even surviving as their saves cannot keep up. Poor Rocky was smoked in the first encounter of the Waking Rune and the scent of burnt dinosaur would last on for days.
Grandmaster TOZ |
That runs into all sorts of sticky questions, like “what actions can the mount take” and “how do initiatives work”.
Grandmaster TOZ |
I think the best you could do is grapple or reposition. (Mobile right now, longer investigation tonight.)
Rokgurn |
I thought we were going to have to go through this whole combat without spell casting. What a relief. :)
Thanks for fixing up the wall spell and cleaning up the map. It is appreciated.
Grandmaster TOZ |
Not a problem. If Whisper stays out of combat, I will not worry about initiative going forward. Just let me know if things change.
Crazy Hairy |
FYI: Crazy had never had his Hedgehog Tumor familiar out in combat, and hopes for that streak to continue
Grandmaster TOZ |
The problem is that Wall of Thorns completely surrounds the assassins, so there is no line of effect to them.
Yuri Twobeards |
Can the casters drop AoE spells on them?
Yuri Twobeards |
Also, does it matter that Yuri is Large and on the platform? Both Green and Yellow are within Yuri's (20') reach. If the Wall is only 5' high can he possibly attack them? (No worries if the answer is no).
Omrax the Bold |
It would be helpful to know the extent of the thorns.
I was assuming the big goon was tall enough to be above the height of the thorns (and it didn't look like he was completely surrounded). But if the wall is only 5' tall, then flying above them should provide some visibility to attack from above (unless the roof covers them entirely too.
