A wand of Non detection would be problematic as the CL is low.
It would also be expensive. Mundane disguises or a hat of disguise could work well.

FYI - since were were unsure of party mix initially, I selected the paladin for the frontline capabilities rather than my battle herald since we already had bardic buffs covered.

Oath If Vengeance
While all paladins uphold the principals of law and good, sometimes these ideas must have a ruthless and dangerous side. It often falls upon a paladin to bring justice in the form of vengeance upon heinous transgressors against law and good.

If anyone is uncomfortable with the selection or the unique role play opportunities , I am willing to swap (GM allowing). I am willing to continue, purchase hat etc:)

I can not speak for everyone but keep your character. We will work around the fact that he is a Paladin. Part of PFS is the random selection of characters for a mission.

I am good with it and prefer the opportunity.

He is also an Oath of Vengeance paladin so added that part above.


Hamish: You cannot be taking 10 on opposed skill checks. You would need something like Skill Mastery or be a 19th level Bard.

Hamish: Strictly by RAW you are correct. The Take 10 rules are now at the GM discretion in PFS with factors like dramatic tension coming into play. Have fun with your rp fluff as no one in the party is likely to call you on it.

Though, now that I think on it, the disguise skill on the Gull did come up once. The GM was trying to have an NPC decide who would be a valid target for a spell of some sort.


Taking 10 while out of combat is allowed. I was chewed out a few years back when I tried to alter the rules of taking 10, because too many power houses were focused on it..

Will say this, High stressed times, like defusing a bomb, might require a roll.

Also, don't worry about switching your characters.

Oh, and I didn't mention it before, but the Seaward Gull has the mount evolution... so it can be ridden...

Unfortunately, its default size is medium, so only small characters can do so out of the gate... but if it gets enlarged, then the medium folks are in too.

Of course, the boat won't let you do so without the captain's permission, and appropriate captainy headgear! (I have an extra tricorne hat, just in case).

Dunno if it helps anyone... but want to keep the option out there.
(Had a small sized mounted combat guy lose his mount in the first encounter once... he appreciated being able ride around on the ship, at least... even if it didn't always go the way he wanted it to =))


My Druid is a great rider. He no longer has an animal companion as he has lost too many over the years and the psychological stress has manifested in a figment familiar. I love AC but at high level they die quickly as their saves just cannot keep up.

Can a Tiny or Diminutive creature hide in the hold of the ship?

My druid just got hit with 4 maxed cones of cold... Saved only 1 of them.. Total of 197 damage taken.. only 10 left.. That was the opening attack of the round.

Ok, wand not worth it. We’ll have to get by with mundane+magical disguises and useful precautions.

And, for the record, I’ll buy a potion of glibness and a circlet of persuasion.

Heads-up, Kasimir can fascinate the weak willed, but only if NO ONE ATTACKS.


We should try to be clever and all but at the end of the day if we have to murder hobo the scenario then so be it. :)

Undetectable Alignment is cheap but it also throws up a red flag as to why the person is shielded in the first place. A better spell would allow you to project a false alignment for a person to detect.

Many thanks. Was that one casting of GMW or two? Not trying to greedy, but Yuri simultaneously wields a reach and a non-reach weapon, and because of the way that Come and Get Me works, it's likely that he'll be using both of them. But no worries if you only have the slots to cast it once, in which case I'll put in on my dorn-dergar (the reach weapon).

Does GMW stack with the existing weapon enhancement? Omrax sword is already +2 so if the GMW stacks, great, otherwise it would be better to cast onto Yuri s second weapon. Omrax has divine bond and can add +3 to his weapon for short periods


Each casting of GMW is for a single weapon and it does not allow you to bypass other DR than magic. It will overlap with but not stack with other magical properties of the weapon.

Example: +2 Bane weapon will become a +3 Bane weapon. In terms of overcoming DR other than magic it will remain a +2 Bane weapon.

It is an expensive spell for the Cleric to cast (4th level) so be thankful.

It does not stack with existing enhancement bonuses but will work with Yuri's two weapons - dwarven dorn-dergar (reach) and dwarven boulder helmet (non-reach) - both of which are +1 furious, meaning their enhancement bonus increases by 2 when raging. So with rage and GMW, each of these +1 weapons will become +5, but (because of the specific exception regarding DR of GMW that Mage of the Wyrmkin pointed out) will only count as +3 for the purpose of overcoming DR.

The reason for wanting it on both weapons is that Yuri will typically fight at reach (10', or 15-20' if enlarged) but if a non-reach creature attacks him, because of the way Come and Get Me works, Yuri will get an AoO against each of the creature's attacks (up to 4 attacks), but if they have closed with him, those AoO will have to be done with the non-reach weapon. Hope this makes sense. And, again, if it's too much Yuri can certainly get by with only one casting (or none!) - as Mage pointed out, it's a high level spell - just wanted to explain why I'm asking.


So buffing Yuri is fine except when he is raging. :)
The rules of Pathfinder can be weird at times.

Furious is a glorious enchantment for a Barbarian.

I’ll give the second GMW to Yuri then, given the details.

If we get a second day, I’ll memorize a third GMW for Omrax. That way, divine bond can be used for the alternate effects, like Flaming.

Sounds good. My barbarian loves the furious weapon but the saving vs party heal spells and other party buffs was becoming a pain so GM allowed retraining (campaign AP not PFS). It works better with the party now.

Omrax has blessings of fervor and a couple other party buffs for in combat but nothing long duration. I was assuming someone has haste at this level, but maybe not.

Hey everyone, in case you aren't on the discord channel for this game, our GM posted there to say that he couldn't post today for medical reasons but should be able to post again tomorrow. Hope all's well with him!


I just hopped on. I live in Japan, so my yesterday ended 8 hours ago. I will update in the next few hours.

I received a scare yesterday at the hospital and will have to go in for some more tests in one week. The problem is with my liver, which is funny since i'm not a heavy drinker. The doctor said it might be something to do with my kidney.... So i am a little concerned about that. But what ever it is, the damage is still slight and they caught it in time. So with a good diet and checkups. I will be fine.

Just some added stress onto me in an already stressful time. :/

Our GM is going through a tough time so how about asking GMAndrewW if he would be willing to take over the game? His table for game day fell apart due to the fact that there were not enough level 17-18 characters available. He has also GMed this scenario before so it would be a piece of cake for him to take it over.

Obviously if our GM wants to continue that would be great but I do not want us to add to his stress level.

Guys. Im sorry about everything. I am doing okay, not dead yet.. Thinking about my health over the weekend has been the main thing on my mind. I have another test coming on Thursday that will let me know if the health problems are more than just my liver...

Either way, if GMAndrewW does say he can take over, then that will be good. Either way, I'll drop back in and let you know about it after I hear from the doctor.

Also, if GMAndrewW doesn't, then I will continue the adventure next Monday. Come hell or high water.


Hello all, I have been asked to take over the game and am currently considering it. I should be able to let you all know by tomorrow. A couple of points if I do:

1. I generally conduct a light touch audit of characters in my games, moreso for high level games. Please make sure your profile is up to date.

2. For this gamme I would plan to use Roll20 for the Maps and Handouts. The game would run on the forum but for various reasons the Maps would be somewhere a little easier to edit things on.

3. You might want to hold off on long term buffs as you have several days of travel before you reach the island.

4. I am planning to run Part 2 but I want to play it first. I hope to play it this month.
