    Aishe smiles grimly as the creature is dispatched, and waits for the cloud kill to push off and fade before taking up a position on the middle of the room where he can guard the others as they recover.

    You couldn't script this anymore perfect. Vinas makes a nearly impossible roll ....just as the combat concludes. plus the Big Trouble video was spot on. Well done Vinas, I like your video chops. @Gm- I'm applying spellslayer bonus to Atium for the next couple minutes.

    Atium smiles his gap toothed smile and nods his head at the praise. Yes Twink. The thing could not stand up to a charging bull.

    Little did he know that it was Twink's magics and inner dialogue references to awkward Ulfen celebrations that did the trick. His hammer would not have hit as much, or with such force if it weren't for his friends.

    Good Shieldmate! I was worried about you. Now I don't need to be. I can smile with a full heart at how the fog got smashed.

    Little does Atium know, but napkins have never existed at Ulfen high dinners. It was only imported by visitors on rare occasions... like the time the Technic League delegation visited and brought both napkins and doilies. Stories of that night haunt The Technic league to this day.

    Vinas reappears extremely confused, not only to himself but everyone around him on where he went. As the creature is defeated a stain like a dark haze remains in the air at the south end of this room. It has no ill effect, although the books it has touched on the lower half of the shelves have all been corrupted: only one random, lonely letter remains on each page.

    The route to the west is entirely collapsed. A large pile of rubble fills the hall here, blocking passage. The vines along the ceiling seem withered and crushed, their glowing blossoms emitting only a feeble light.

    Why do we always have to pause for things like Books?! This has ONLY ONE LETTER in it, and you fawn over it like it had tens or hundreds of words in it.
    Normal books have tens of thousands of words in them, but Atium doesn't know.. he doesn't like reading them.

    While Atium is not interested, his IRL player is very interested in this mystery and wants others to investigate more. Is this a riddle?

    Aishe checks for tracks in the western portion up to where the tunnel looks collapsed. He's simply being thorough so no one comes at them from behind - or at least if they can, he'll be ready for them.

    There are footprints all over the place traveling up and down these corridors that it makes it difficult for Aishe to follow them all. Seeing less footprints to the two small alcoves the group investigates them first.

    East Dormitory
    Bunk beds line the north wall of this large chamber. A table and pair of comfortable chairs sit in the corner. The room’s only door stands in the south wall.

    This dormitory is large enough to hold a dozen inhabitants, although it has never been full and the bunks were rarely in use for more than a few days at a time. It is currently unused.

    Office
    A bare wooden desk stands in the center of this office. An empty shelf is built into the eastern wall and several chairs sit along the southern wall.

    The botanists of Tlil use this office as needed, either to complete notes and logs on a study or as a meeting room. The west door leads to the hall, while the north door leads to a sizable closet filled with writing supplies such as paper, scrolls, quills, and the like.

    When ulfenbrother hands him a potion, Atium passes. I am good Clanbrother. I avoided most of the mists. The creature focused on the bright man in all the armor and disregarded the rugged man from the north. Many have done so and regretted it later. The mist learned too late.

    Large flowering vines run along the length of the ceiling here, coming together in a tight, coiling mass in the center of the ceiling twenty feet overhead. The coiling mass pulses with light that alternates in hue between azure and gold. Vines hang freely from the ceiling; a few even reach the floor. Hallways extend from the southwest and southeast corners from this room, and a wide hall leads north.

    The coiling mass in the center of this room holds a piece of the kumaru tree taken from Tumbaja Mountain. This kumaru fragment serves as the primary energy source for the Blue Gardens of Tlil, even though it is long dead, and studying it directly has always been a high honor for the botanists who work here. The piece is woven so tightly into the facility’s power network that it can’t be removed without destroying it—although that hasn’t stopped Umbarno from trying as part of his increasingly desperate experiments.

    Umbarno has spent the last several days here studying the nexus. His continual encounters with Palderren have left him in a poor state. "I must reactivate the Veins of Creation. I am the only one." You hear as you enter the room. Due to his feelings of isolation, Umbarno’s last few days of experimentation and tinkering have been focused on creating a living body for the kumaru tree fragments locked into the arcane network here. While he has yet to succeed in finding a way to fully animate the plants surrounding the fragments, he has achieved a significant breakthrough. Using some of the other plant matter in the room, he’s created a construct powered directly by the kumaru fragments.

    Entering you find Umbarno, his hair completely disheveled. "What have I done Kazutal..." His mind is fractured with indecision now that the shadowy creature to the south is vanquished.

    ”Who in the heck designed this basement? Was the great Taldan warrior, Tri-ang-gel-ese?” Vanyan follows along, trying to make sense of the weird angles.

    Feeling that he doesn’t have quite a grip on madness like others do, Vanyan looks to Tess to handle the initial discussion. He hopes for a positive interaction, but wonders what might be.

    He waits for the smooth talkers to step up and talk the man down. He stands in the back, with his crossbow ready. I moved him to the edge of the room, but he's waiting for the front liners to move up before he does.

"I have come too far to abandon all of this. It can't stop here. This can't be the end." He looks up at the Verdant Bombadier. "Interpose yourself and kill them all."

    Awesome visual! I like!

    Atium strains against the incredible strength of this part metal, part plant thing. Using all his martial prowess to redirect the mortar tube down and away from himself. With teeth gritted together, he grinds out the words.
    shhhaaa.. CCRRRAA....dddrrrrraa....KKKKKK and his muscles start to grow and bungle. His fingers enlongate into claws, his teeth grow even harder and sharper, and his belt quasi-unbuckles and whips off into a dragon tail like appendage.

    Aishe gets a large bruise as the creature swings around and slams a tube into his side. Aishe quickly returns fire, though his bolt doesn't do hardly any damage. DR 15

    Vanyan recognizes the Verdant Bombardier as a type of cannon golem. Even though it is mostly plant-life it is resistant to all weapons unless they are adamantine and very resistant to fire. Cannon Golems are immune to magic though, any electricity type type spell renders the mortar inert for 1 round and a massive electricity spell such as shocking grasp will cause the mortar to backfire.
