Correct, Vinas holds the final potion of CLW. I am just glad you guys have not been rolling 1's on those dusty potions.

Searching around the group finds nothing further of interest, outside of what may or may not be in the unopened sarcophagus. Vanyan detects no magic as well.

end raging Atium uses his brute strength - and some help with the short sword from Vanyan. to break free.
Atiums energy seems to quickly sap away from him, and he drops to a knee before slowly (with the jerkiness of a 47 year old man going up stairs) rising to stand ready. He keeps the axe in both hands - ready for more action, but holsters it when a potion of healing is handed to him. He downs it like chugging a beer. HP's already rolled and given by GM.

Thank you Aishe and *Twink*. The help was appreciated, as that thing had a strange sticky "goo" that just made me fit to be tied. I couldn't get a good power swing from the axe. Maybe I should look into a smaller weapon for such tricky situations. One that doesn't need both my hands.

That is a task for another day. Right now, he huffs and puffs a bit. It takes almost half a minute for his breathing to really get it's stamina back. During that time, he hopes that attention to the sarcophagus takes attention away from him and his asthmatic breathing and lethargic limbs.

Tessenarin walks back into the one room and grabs his axe and puts it on his back again. He keeps the bow in one hand and walks over the opening in the south east

The stone walls of this room are carved to resemble an airy stable with a large stone box at the southern end. The lid of the box is cracked and corroded, as though from powerful acid. An illustration of a lean, regal stallion and the words “No Greater Friend Hath a Man Than His Loyal Steed” are chiseled into the stone above the box.

DC 18 Knowledge (History) or (Religion):

Although Roslar had several horses, his favorite was a swift, lean stallion named Abdell. When Abdell died, Roslar was despondent for weeks, insisting that Abdell’s remains be kept near his own. The builders of Roslar’s Tomb took this direction to heart, creating a mausoleum for the horse.

There seems to be another, smaller exit from this room. The crumbled bottom of the southeastern wall leads to a small tunnel about 1 foot wide. This must be where those strange acid-spewing insects have been getting in.

Lying west of the sarcophagus is the crumpled form of a bone horse. Partially melted and reconstructed with acid the horse's structure is now little more than a horrific amalgamation that barely resembles a horse anymore. Its skull sits too close to its torso and one leg has been attached in the wrong spot.

    Vinas does indeed spot danger. Peering around the corner he notices another of those strange acid insects hiding within the ribs of the horses skeletal structure.

    Aishe nods at Atium when thanked, but looks strangely at him wondering who *Twink* is. When Vanyan replies with *Wank* he thinks he gets it. He smiles as Vanyan heals Atium, Aw, look at them fussing over each other. How nice.

    He gets a little closer and looks over Tessenarin’s shoulder and into the room. When he describes the rooms resident, he nods along, but he quickly raises his crossbow when Vinas points out their opponent. He tries to see the insect through the horses bones.

    "Don't you think it'll come up behind us and attack at our most vulnerable?" he's eager to kill the nasty little insect, but waits for the group to decide.

    Vanyan keeps his distance from the room, readying his longspear.

    ”It’s too bad we don’t have anyone that can shoot it from afar...because that might be the best way to deal with it,” Vanyan says wistfully thinking that Aishe and Tess should be shooting it from 30’ away, with Atium and Vinas guarding them, a torch providing light.

    ”Nah...that will never work,” Vanyan kicks a stone on the ground. ”Heck, Vinas and *Wank* can hide on either side of this doorway, then flank it when it comes out, but it would require a genius to make that happen.”

    Vanyan moves back 15’ to the doorway of the 6 coffered room as he waits for others to do what they do. Can’t move on map now.

  • "I'm not sure an arrow is going to help. It'll just rattle around the ribcage. I'll ask forgiveness from Roslar's spirit later, but I think rushing in and smashing it is the better option. Then I can make it chase me back out while you smash it. It's pretty much the same plan, but we don't wait to bring the fight to it."

    Vinas looks carefully at everyone else as he points his morningstar at the erstwhile horse.

    If no one objects, he strides forth and swings as hard as he can. If people DO object, then he'll wait in hiding.

    Atium, being a bit young and naive, would normally be shy and embarrassed by sexual questions.
    But Vanyan is presenting a straight up "Dick" joke. Kids in the Linnorm can appreciate dick jokes. Every joke or insult about your manhood is bandied about in daily conversation among the men- or the boys wanting to be treated like men.
    Twink just happened to culturally stumble onto an indirect acknowledgement of Atium's manhood and ability.

    Atium nods to Vanyan. With the healing and nickname, Atium feels much better about this tomb and the people he's with.
    He still thinks Vanyan is a twinkletoed dandy b$%$+$*~ artist that probably likes to put his hair in manbuns, but he ain't all that bad.

    ”Uh...wai....” Vanyan’s voice trails off as Vinas moves in.

    Vanyan seems ready to object to Vinas’ action, but as long as the archers are in position, Atium is ready to block the door, then he doesn’t mind that Vinas is going to go in and rattle some bones. It’s risky, but okay.

    He readies his longspear, intent on protecting the archers.

    The logic and tactics all seem sound as Vanyan attempts to corral and coordinate the townsfolk. He gets so close as Vinas, looking to prove himself and get the upper hand charges into the room at the skeletal frame and smashes his morningstar into the ribcage. Several bones break free, exposing the insect within as it is still slightly protected.

    The horse shudders to its hooves as one of the legs seemingly fused to the chest, kicks out at Vinas.

    Still trying to organize his ambush, Vanyan spins to see Vinas engage before everyone was ready. His face sinks as he hears the sickening crunch of hoof bashing in skull.

    Holding his longspear in one hand, Vanyan draws one of his nice stones and hucks one at the horse.

    Tessenarin looks angry and torn, unsure what the best thing to do would be. He finally moves to have a better line of sight on the creature and decides.

    Seeing the skeletal horse fall to Vanyan's stone Atium shifts his balance and brings the sharp end of his greataxe into the bug, splitting it wide open with a single blow. Small bits of acid leak out of the carapace.

    Seeing Atium pulverize the snake, Vanyan moves into the room checking for more foes. If no other present themselves, Vanyan will seek to stop Vinas’ blood from ruining the nice floor of the crypt.

    He pulls out the recently found healer’s kit to help him.

    ”If you give me an hour, I can possibly fix his skull enough to get him on his feet,” Vanyan says without much confidence, but willing to try.

    If we wait an hour, he might come to on his own and then we can apply the potion.

    He wanders around the central tomb looking around again humming some medley.

    Aishe nods at Vanyan, though he wonders what sort of healing he'll provide. He offers his aid to improve his chances at success.

    Vanyan cleans the blood off Vinas' face, inspecting the damage. He touches the main wound gingerly (after licking his fingers clean of course) to survey the damage.

    "Aishe, first prepare this poultice and I'll sterilize the needle, then we'll get some stitching done," Vanyan asks, happy for the extra hands to help.

    Vanyan works carefully and methodically, trying to stitch up the wound in a way that will keep most of Vinas' remaining brains in his head, his jaw from being warped, but his nose will probably slightly atilt for all time.

    His stitches are...

    ...surprisingly good, clean and neat in a row.

    After an hour, Vanyan is sweating a bit and Vinas is threatening to stir.

    "Good thing we didn't give him the potion first...he might have screamed enough to wake the dead. It's not good to stitch on the alive and awake. It's much easier to stitch the mostly dead and asleep."

    He steps back to admire his work.

    I think that's a fully successful treating of deadly wounds, +4 hp back. This will be first successful attempt in my storied Pathfinder career.

    "Vinas? You there? Hey, wake up. Drink some water...your face? Well, I did the best I could," Vanyan gently slaps Vinas awake.

    Vanyan's treat deadly wounds gave Vinas 4 HP due to beating the DC by 5. :)

    Vanyan's hands prove surprisingly steady in their time of need. Seems some of those Pathfinder missions did help calm his nerves. While it didn't seem to give the man any immediate satisfactory and observed reward, it overall gave him unobserved muscle memory in his training.

    Vina's eyes flutter open! But his jaw and nose are still plenty f%~#ed up.

    Tessenarin walks back over after an hour and sees Vina awaken.

    "That was good work. You healed him before with magic, can you do it again, Pathfinder?"

    Atium looks on as the two use the items from the Healing kit.
    There's some parts of the stitching- that while straight and "clean" seem to elicit a black and blue marking around the flesh.

    But, you guys might want to check the expiration date on some of the materials in that old Healer's kit, as I think that hoof to Vina's face will leave a scar.

Whole teams would go missing, then they’d send more teams to try to recover those teams...it was awful, just awful...” Vanyan shakes his head, clearly not having what it takes to be a Pathfinder.

    Vanyan picks up his longspear, his stones no longer magical, and readies it.

    ”Maybe there is a way out over here...” Vanyan is happy to follow others to the remaining area.

    A small alcove on the east wall of this hallway contains stone shelves with some boxes and bags. On the floor are several shiny plates of insectile exoskeleton that glimmer with a faint red glow in the darkness.

    The bags and boxes are neatly placed on the shelves and contain an assortment of brushes, rags and polish.

    DC 10 Knowledge Nature:
    The remains on the floor are pieces of a fire beetle that looks to have been recently killed and dragged here.

    Unlike other areas of the tomb, this room is lit, due to a strange red luminescence.

    This wide room has a hallway leading out of the north wall and a set of stairs leading up to the east. An elaborately lifelike image carved into the south wall depicts a mustachioed knight kneeling before a slender woman with feathery wings. The woman holds a rapier above her head with one hand while the other is extended to the knight, who is kissing it. Lettering above the image reads, “Faithfulness Always to the Red Crusader.”

    Roslar never met Arazni in person, but that didn’t stop his wishful thinking. This carving is based on extensive notes he’d made about how he envisioned such a meeting.

    Four large beetles the size of housecats cling to the western wall. They are a dull brown color brightened by two glowing red spots on its carapace, bright enough to light up the room. Upon spotting Atium, they skitter towards him!

    Aishe panics as he sees the glowing… things. He worries his bolts will burst into flame before doing any damage. Still, he has to hit first. He raises his crossbow and prays to Abadar that his weapon strikes true. He takes very careful aim indeed.* He shoots at green as he has a clear unobstructed lane to it on his init.

    Touch Attack - Crossbow (silver, cold iron): 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 5 + 1 = 21 (point blank) damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 (point blank)

    Satisfied, he takes a 5' step back to let others pass as he reloads his crossbow.

    Atium says quickly, and his eyes see red. The Red of the Fire Beetles. When he's like this, he hates the color red.

    When it gets close enough, he takes a step forward and swings the axe with all his might.

    @Atium- Your weapon did not have reach so moved you the 5 foot closer where you would have had to be.

    Aishe sends a bolt off as is actually quite surprised as it snaps into the beetle's hard carapace with a crunching sound. The beetle is pinned lifelessly to the ground.

    Atium, seeing red, dives into the room and brings his axe straight into the beetle's back, spraying a luminescent gore all over the room like some sort of Jackson Pollock painting. That's right he lived on Golarian.
