Good Day!
I'm looking to apply for your PBP game! This sounds particularly interesting and playing a full on Evil Campaign just sounds darned fun.
I've never played by post before and I'm looking to break into it. With the day to day business of life it makes it rather difficult to keep up the ol'gaming schedule.
I'd expect to be able to post 3-5 times daily if needed, during my morning rountine, evening routine and one at work during the day while on lunch.
I've been playing pen and paper for just under two decades, and have primarily been the GM for things I've played. It would be my first time playing PBP.
In answer to resolving player conflict - The in character conflict goes with both the RP and the build of the character and the majority of them can be done just by understanding who you're playing with. Between actual PC's, it would be better if one, or both removed themselves from the action, settled their differences amicably, and return to the game rather than disrupt the active game. (Granted I'm sure that's different via the posting forum.)
Anyways, would like to be considered for the game. I'd love to play a Orc Barbarian (a little standard I know). Any feedback even if not selected in how to properly post/apply to games would be apprecaited.
Thanks in advance!

You have something like 8 hours left to write up a complete charsheet. Also, half-orc maybe? I mean, we all know and love good ol' Sir Bearington, but for your first game something less conspicious might be prudent.

Aok! I'll write one up pretty quickly, and you're probably right, a full on Orc in a populated city-center would likely draw a heck of a lot of attention. The half-breed would draw marginally less.
I'm not sure I'm looking to play 'Sir Bearington' ha ha but definitely. So I would just post the write up in this thread as well? Or send that directly to the game master?
Thanks for responding. Pretty new to the whole online community for pen and paper!

You can post the writeup in this thread. Typically, it's a good idea to use spoiler tags to do so. If you need help with formatting, read the "How to format your text" below the box to show the correct tags.
Welcome to PbP! It moves slower than face to face gaming, but you also don't have to deal with scheduling issues, and it gives you the opportunity for some really in-depth role-play. I think you'll enjoy it.

And submissions are now closed.
If I missed you in the above, please let me know. I did not include people who did not have both crunch and background, but I may have inadvertently missed you, so if you think you included both crunch and background, let me know.
I'm sending some PMs now with questions and should start sending invites tomorrow or Sunday.
I will follow up here once all decisions have been made.
Thank you all for the interest. I know from my preliminary review I'm going to have to make some very hard decisions and I feel very fortunate to have so many high caliber submissions from so many people.

GM Snowheart |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

With all sincerity, I have to say this was quite difficult and in the end I've had to turn down some truly incredible submissions from folks who've really shown the RP "chops" I'm hoping to have in this campaign. In some cases, the decision was a matter of splitting a hair. In other cases, I wanted to offer the opportunity to someone who was fairly new to PbP but still wrote a great background and shows a lot of RP potential.
We had submissions from at least two venture-captains, a venture-lieutenant, and I'd wager a couple of authors or freelancers. I gave serious thought to running a second table but I don't want to overextend myself and do a disservice to everyone.
So... thank you. I enjoyed reading everyone's backgrounds and appreciate the thought and consideration you put into your characters.
Now, without further ado, the following players/characters should report-in to the discussion thread (which I will open shortly after this post).
Player - Character
--------------------
Javell DeLeion - Morthos
Slayde77 - Timo Zoci
Kris Vanhoyland - Affyria Strex
Stormraven - Price
Solicitor - Asturu Renaro
JAF0 - Inulukii
Daedalus - Daidalos Icarum
If for any reason some of these players realize they can't join or drop out shortly after we start, I will send PMs to folks who I think might be a good fit for any vacancy.

Re-opened as of 2/23/2018
Hello all. We've lost a couple of players to real life and would like to re-open recruitment to add two characters to the party. Quick set of basics but please consult the original Recruitment post:
* Characters are currently 3rd Level
* We are using Hero Points
* You can purchase gear using Wealth by Level
* 25-point
Current party composition is an Investigator, Anti-Paladin, Cleric and Wizard. That means the basic roles are fairly well covered and no particular role is needed more than any other, so emphasis for recruitment is going to be on demonstrated role-playing and that you're not currently in another WotW campaign. If you have a submission pending in another one, hopefully that will be resolved by the time recruitment closes for this one. You can still submit for this campaign, just give me an update either way as we get closer to the close of recruitment.
Expected posting frequency is one per day on weekdays; optional on weekends.
I'm going to keep recruitment until March 2nd, roughly 12noon Eastern. I'm emphasizing roughly. I might make final decisions earlier that day, but if I haven't, I might also accept submissions a little after that deadline. In other words, it would be best to have it in before March 2nd. :-)
Please let me know if you have any questions. Prior submissions are welcome. I remember having a really tough time deciding on who to accept so if I didn't accept it originally, please don't hesitate about resubmitting.

![]() |

dotting.
I don't think I'll be resubmitted my prior submission.
Thinking some type of inquisitor... Likely an infiltrator+preacher archetype.
that or maybe a barbarian or bloodrager, A cold-blooded killer type. If I go bloodrager I would like to flavor it as a gift from the asmodeous or whatever god the group is working for at this point :3
are background skills being used?
do you have to use the unchained versions or is that only for summoners?
triats- Do we need to select a trait from the handbook?
oh and before I get too far into backgrounds etc, does the party desire a melee or ranged combatant? Or a mixture of both?

![]() |

If I choose to go with bloodrager, and the more I think about it, the more I like it, Would you allow me to use the unchained barbarian rage? Mostly for easier book keeping, as the loss of 1 damage here or there isn't a big deal for me.
And, would you allow the primalist archetype for the bloodrager?

Javell DeLeon |

Really? Luke? Wow. That would explain a lot.
How the heck are ya, Snowheart?! Long time no see. I got this guy I'd like to throw in there: Morthos :)
He's not up to level but that can easily be done if selected.

GM Snowheart |

Szordrin, sounds good!
Rorek, open to all of that, yup! Anything that’s Paizo is fine provided it fits within the context of the AP (a paladin would be a bad choice but just about anything else is fine as long as you can work with a bunch of diabolists). Any 3PP, I’ll have to think about but there is a better than 50/50 I’ll say yes. (The AP is 3PP, after all.)
Hey Javell! I recognize that character! ;-) Yeah, we’re sad to be missing Luke. I’m keeping a spot open for him in my CotCT game if/when he comes back, but I can’t keep waiting for this one.

Metacharge (Ex)
As an Arcane crafter, you gain a bonus feat at 3rd level, which must be an item creation feat or metamagic feat. You must still meet all prerequisites for a bonus feat, including caster level minimums. When using metamagic feats to create magic items, your skill and understanding of the principles involved in the item’s creation give you a +2 bonus on the skill check made to create the item.
Metamagic Mastery (Su)
At 8th level, you can apply any one metamagic feat that you know to a spell you are about to cast. This does not alter the level of the spell or the casting time. You can use this ability once per day at 8th level and one additional time per day for every two wizard levels you possess beyond 8th. Any time you use this ability to apply a metamagic feat that increases the spell level by more than 1, you must use an additional daily usage for each level above 1 that the feat adds to the spell. Even though this ability does not modify the spell’s actual level, you cannot use this ability to cast a spell whose modified spell level would be above the level of the highest-level spell that you are capable of casting.

Background: Szordrin was a promising wizard in a moderately powerful drow house. One night while on patrol his group ambushed a derro caravan. The battle that followed was quick and deadly. Szordrin claimed as his combat prize a magical gem known as a Ioun Stone, but before he was able claim his prize a lowly ranked priestess tried to claim it as her own. He had to submit to her will and his prized was forfeited. Later the next night Szordrin claimed his prized back and was successful in removing in from her cold dead hands, but not without a few witnesses. He was forced to flee for his very life and was found by a person known only as the cardinal. Szordrin has worked for this person ever since.

I have been sitting on an interesting character concept...though, the build is probably not terribly unique.
Going for a knifemaster unchained rogue, gonna have gory finish. The character concept is a slightly insane serial killer. He has a passion for cutting and is quite willing to be a dog on a leash. I do what they want, they let me kill things.

backround-
Arrac was chieftain of a small tribe in the forests of Talingarde, before the Military came and ended that. They were accused of witchcraft, consorting with demons because they had teiflings in their tribe. Then, when Arrac and the 3 elders refused to kneel and indeed denied Mitra's supremacy above all. They were accused of Heresy. They were attacked 2 days later, those that were leaders or shamans in the small tribe were captured, most were put to the sword however, including Arrac's wife and child. This taught Arrac one thing, something he had always felt, power is everything. Those with Power survive, thrive, those without are crushed. He now devotes himself to the quest for power, so that one day he can fully avenge his tribe and denounce this Mitra as a false and hypocritical god and take from her every follower she has. For what real god of mercy would slaughter an entire village for merely denying her and rumors of witchery? It wasn't until later that Arrac would find the land his people had called home was being cleared for use by some noble family.
He made a pact with a devil, and was granted the power of Hell when he focuses. He made great use of that power during his escape. Basically, he is seeking to avenge his family, and has in so doing begun treading dark paths. Goal 1, make the noble house pay, goal 2, make Mitra pay, goal 3 (likely moreso coming over the campaign) rebuild, and take this land that should have belonged to his people and make it a nation where only the strong and powerful thrive.
Let me know if this idea/concept works for you
I'll flesh it out over the next day or so, I'm not ENTIRELY sure on whether to go Infernal or Destined either.
Also, DM, would you be ok with me trading in my half-orc prof. with flachion and greataxe for bastard sword prof? I'll rarely use it anyway other than 2handed, just figured I'd ask. If not its no big deal.
sorry, but one OTHER thing, would you allow me to take the feat extra rage power after level 4(when I acquire them from primalist) I'm not sure I will since i haven't looked at unchained barbs rage powers, I hope they have totems (looking at the fiend totem line for delicious flavor) but would need to take a couple feats for rage powers I think to make it all come together.

Rorek, looks interesting! I haven’t seen many half-orcs in WotW campaigns though they seem like they could be a good fit!
I’m going to say no to the customizing of the orc proficiencies, but I see no problem with taking the extra rage power feat. Do some people house rule that out?
Thanks, Edman!
Background and Admin Notes for All
One thing that occurs to me is you should work into your backgrounds whether you’ve already met Cardinal Thorn or not. (I’ll try to add a link so you can quickly find the posts where the party has met with him, and you can decide how your own introduction rated from a “Timo” to an “Affyria”.) If you have, you’ll have signed a version of the compact the party has but you’ll gain an extra trait that I will assign as a reward for completing Thorn’s training. If you have not met Thorn and been inducted into his plot, the central conceit of the campaign still applies: your PC will need to be comfortable working with and advancing the goals of Asmodeans, and ideally (not not necessarily) be part of the faith. Worship of the other dukes of Hell is also acceptable, as they in turn serve Asmodeus.
As I have time, I will try to review submissions and let you know if I have questions or anything jumps out as missing.

Its likely that for melee builds, tieflings and aasimar draw a lot more attention from this AP considering their ancestry, indeed, my half-orc has teifling blood in him for that reason.
proficiency thing is fine, I'll just be two-handing it anyway, and as far as the rage power feat, its sort of a technicality,
primalist archetype for bloodrager gives you the ability to swap some of your bloodline powers for rage powers, however it doesn't give you the "rage power" class ability. So RaW I don't think you can take the feat unless you read it as giving you said class ability. I won't lie, it can be used to great cheesy effectiveness (like getting pounce etc), however that's not what I want to do with it. (hell I'm looking at taking the fiend totem line, which is pretty lacklustre, even more so when not fighting "good" creatures) just wanted to let you know. Will post an updated version with this news in mind later today hopefully.

I've always wanted to make one and go for getting all nine tails.

Ah, thanks for clarifying. Let me think on that one a little.

I did indeed! Thanks for following-up. I've never used or seen Words of Power used but it's official so you can use it. You may have to help me work through the rules on it periodically, but give it a whirl if you like.
Kitsune is fine, too. Thanks for asking.

Angelyn of whitecrest / the devil of Swanford
“May Mitra have mercy upon your wretched, damned soul.”
were the last words Sir Balin of Karfeld spoke to the girl that had terrorised the city of Swanford for weeks. Her reply surprised him as it wasn't something any of the the heretics bevor had offered as excuse or insult.
"Mitra had denied me his mercy when I need it the most, when I prayed and hoped, why would he give it now"
---
Angelyn was born into a family of minor nobles. Her mother knew how to handle the energetic and often whimsical child, with much love and quite a bit cleverness.
Everything was well until Angelyn's mother fell I'll. When it turned out to be serious, her father asked for a healer to come, when the priest's magic failed he asked for another one. It went like that for weeks, more important and powerful clerics coming each weak, and each of them fail to improve her condition, while her daughter offered prayer after prayer at her bedside.
When her mother finally died Angelyn's grief turned into anger, why had Mitra the most powerful of all the gods refused to safe her mothers life? Why had he betrayed those who where fateful to him? Thus the young girl swore vengeance. As Mitra himself was out of her reach (for now) she directed her rage at those following him directly, his priesthood. Angelyn spend all her free time training in secret to be ready one day to reap vengeance.
When the day she felt ready finally came , she snuck out of the mansion, that felt cold and empty without her mother, armed and Masked to hunt down the servants of the traitor good. As luck would have it she stumbled upon a lone priest, just on his way back from the bad part of town to the temple. So she struck as the cleric passed the alleyway she was hiding in, the blade of her rapier barely missed his vitals, sliding of a rip and causing a nasty stomach wound. Panicked Angelyn retreated, before the stunned priest could raise alarm. When she heard nothing crys of alarm, she decided to investigate and check if the priest might have died from his wound. Following the bloody tracks without much trouble she found the wounded cleric, who seemed to have tried to heal the wound with what little magic he had remaining, who was barely able to keep on walking. Not willing to waste the oppertunity she struck again, inflicting a deep cut on his leg and retreated again, this time observing his struggles. Striking again and again each time it seemed like the cleric got his hopes up. When he stopped moving she walked up to him, turned him on his back with a foot and looked into his face, seeing the hope die in his eyes she finished him off with two quick cuts, having him bleed out on the cobblestones of the road.
She continued her hunts, finding prey roughly once a week as she was careful and the followers of Mitra got more careful as well. Angelyn was delighted when the rumors of the devil of Swanford reached her. Unbeknownst to her by this time Sir Balin of Karfeld, renown Witch hunter, had been called. Her hunts came to an end when her blade met armor under the robes instead of flesh. Angelyn almost managed to escape from the disguise solider and his reinforcements, using every trick and holdout she had.
After she was unmasked it was decided to keep the true identity of the devil of Swanford a secret, to not embarrass her family, after they were cleared of all suspicion. Angelyn was declared dead and send to burnscar.

During his stay in the lovely brandescar prison During one of the moments he was not being tortured or toyed with a whisper came to his mind. Offering power, strength... revenge, for but a pittance. Instantly, a mental bargain struck, and a contract signed. Almost Immediately following a prison break occurred, and Arrac used the chance to make his escape as well. Killing any guard that got near him, his newfound power allowing him to encase his weapon in hellfire and strengthening his body. After his bloody escape, he went back to his peoples home, wanting to pay a last tribute and rite like their old ways demanded. However, he could not. As the land had been despoiled by the very people who had attacked them. The sacred grove cut down and turned to lumber, the ground where their ancestors had been buried used as foundation for some building. Flying into another rage, the likes of which he only experienced during his escape at the prison, he slaughtered almost the entire work crew and two guards stationed there. After that, he felt a small tug, a whisper in his ear. It promised him more than mere bloodshed, more than mere vengeance. He followed it and it lead him to a manor, and a man by name of Cardinal Thorn. It seemed he had been awaiting Arrac, indeed, it seemed Arrac was late. He offered him the contract, one Arrac had signed, at least mentally, in branderscar. However, he moved to tower over Thorn, and spoke. I contracted to this Asmodeous, I will serve him in exchange for the power he has given me. There is no loyalty to you. Not yet. But Mitra and her followers must burn. This we have in common. . He would then sign the contract, undergoing thorns training due only to a tiny whisper in his urging him, and the promise of seeing this land burn.
When he finished/joins the party if selected is up to you GM of course, and even if I am not selected feel free to use this guy as an NPC.
