Morythine Ettes |
Thanks for continuing to DMPC Morythine through his near death experiences. Stuff remains crazy for most of this week, hope I can re-engage at the weekend.

Also Thron, was the secret door still opened? If so, I had moved 5 ft to the west, as I wanted to be 10 ft away from him so I can smack 'em with my hammer.
If not, then where I am is fine.
Kala Steelheart |
That makes two of us. Fri-Tues 12 hour night shifts. Then 1 day off then, going to a convention next weekend to play PFS.

Ugh. Zoli's HP. I could've sworn I posted that she took some IH after getting knocked to zero...but I think somehow I forgot to post it.
Thron, let me know what to do here. My suggestion:
Zoli's HP are
3 (last of pre-Orik IH)
+4 (eugeni's fervor)
=7
+20 (2 IH charges from Xam, immediately after the battle, and while we were debating Orik's fate)
gets her back to full.
...but I forgot to post it so I'll of course work with however you want to play it. Let me know!

OK let's talk strategy. How do we want to be arrayed in the room?
Let's number the columns and letter the rows, so Xam is currently in a1, Zoli in b2, Eugeni in b5, etc.
I like the idea of 5 front liners in a U shape at the door, so if something steps in it gets attacked by 5 of us at once, with two archers and a caster on the side.
Here's a straw man proposal:
A1 Shalelu
B1 Eugeni
C1 Xam
A3 (open for Baern, when he gets here)
B3 Orik
A4 (meat grinder spot)
B4 Kala
B5 Zoli
B5 Mory
Whaddaya think? Improvements or alternatives?

Hey guys, as mentioned in my other threads (Which many of you are in), I'm going to be busy this week and will be unable to post. Please DMPC McStinky till I'm able to post again.
As for actions, Baern is no longer going to block with his shield; instead, he's going to take total defense actions to increase his AC to 28. (Touch 15, since Total Defense is a Dodge bonus).
Baern's gonna order Orik to take his long spear from his pack and use it over his shoulder, and everyone else should take pot shots at Nualia and co, even if it gives them a -8 attack (-4 soft cover, -4 firing into melee). Its better than nothing.
Once Baern's strength is back, he's going to retreat into the other room; He's going to order Orik to fall back into what would have been Baern's position should Baern go down.

Thron, yes, brutal visual...and a great wreckage of a fine plan.
Kala and Eugeni, ugh, sorry about being panicked! Ouch. (I guess for us Bruthazmus getting pankicked is at least a bit of a silver lining.)
Modified game plan:
A1
B1 Xam
A3 Zoli
B3 Orik (or empty)[1]
A4 (meat grinder spot)
B4 Shalelu (or Orik)[1]
A5 Mory
B5 Eugeni (panicked in the corner, he'll still make it harder for two of them to squeeze in here at once)
[1] I like still having someone in each of these spots. Otherwise they can get two at a time into the room, or step sideways through our ranks. That said, if Shalelu is much better off stepping back to snipe she should make that call, in which case Orik should her spot at B4...or unless someone else has a better suggestion.
Other
Baern -- when he wakes up, reassess, but I assume he *won't* be smart enough to play dead. If he acts, hoping he's behind the enemies and can perhaps go finish Lyrie (who we injured previously)
Xamarath Fingoth |
So long as someone is occupying the first square of entry, I don't think they can go any further without a bull rush or other movement-forced maneuver of some sort. THey can't 5-ft. around a corner.
Zoli Tileani |
Thron, does the fear effect end when the dog dies?
EDIT: Xam, I hesitate to ask this but...as a 3rd level caster you'd normally do 3d6 with your arc, yes? How do you get 7d6? (I assume you calculated it correctly, just curious)
Kala Steelheart |
Unless Nualia has one lying around I don't see us being able to afford a 5k diamond for a raise dead, or 2k in diamond dust for two permanent neg level removals, but who knows, we might get some nice treasure from here.
Morythine Ettes |
Assuming any of us survive, do any of the PCs like Baern enough to revive him? After all, he smells ungodly and charges into battle without thought for the survival of his comrades :-)
Zoli Tileani |
OOC, Crusty was ready to roll up a new one...who'll join before too too long.
In character, Zoli is going to be very sad when she realized what happened (even though he was a knucklehead).
Kala Steelheart |
Kala's code (both as a cavalier of the order of the sword and as a follower of Iomedae) would certainly lead to her seeking a way to revive him if possible. She does regard him as weird but good hearted friend.
Eugeni Silva |
Eugeni assumes such things are far beyond him and would simply mourn Baern as dead. That and I've seen Crusty's new PC, it's way better smell wise, damage wise and healing the rest of the party wise.
Zoli Tileani |
Perhaps we can all take on the last name "Steel[some-body-part]" in his honor? Join Kala and Baern in the Cousins of Steel.
Eugeni Steelbuns?
Morythine Steelfangs?
Zoli Steeltoes?
Xamarath Steel(ahem)?
Meanwhile...I *love* that Nualia actually fell in the hole. I'm not close enough to do it, but I think
Orik or Shalelu could potentially bullrush Lyrie back into the hole and (on top of Nualia). Please! Please!
I kind of want to wait to act to know if they do. If they *don't* I can run up beside Lyrie, but it'll take a double move. In fact, let me just say that she'll run to as close behind the action as she can.
Unless...is there a DC to move *full speed* over the grease? If there's a DC that a daring Swashbuckler could try to cross it at full speed in, she could hustle over the grease, past Lyrie, jump the pit, and be blocking Nualia's exit. ;-)
DM Thron |
First: Morythine does indeed need a miss chance on Lyrie for concealment.
Second: I made an acrobatics check for lyrie to jump the pit already in my haze last night. So she's covered should that need to happen. I had moved them both, then realized I forgot to deduct the penalty to Nualia, and had to adjust their positions quick in an edit. Derp.
Third: While this doesn't help those already in it, an acrobatics check to jump those greased squares could be done. DC 10. Those in the effect are restricted to half speed DC 10 check.
Zoli Tileani |
Copying over the descriptive bits I think Thron was referencing. Let me know if I've missed some.
Room to North, where Nualia was (in a spoiler to Eugeni)
Wide stone ledges of red marble line the curving walls of this room, which is well lit by four burning skulls that sit in each corner. Three chairs rest in the room, and both stone ledges are covered with old books, scrolls, teeth, bones, scrimshaw artwork, jars of deformed creatures soaking in brine, taxidermied animals and limbs, and other strange objects, which you immediately recognize as objects sacred to the worship of Lamashtu. To the north, a large round fountain filled with frothy blue water fills the room with the gentle sound of bubbling. On the floor lies Bruthazmus' bow, and resting beside the fountain is a very elaborately made longbow that appears to have a heavy draw, as well as a quiver of arrows.
Room to South, that we fought in (in a spoiler to Xamarath)
As you cannot reliably pursue, you decide to take a look at the immense stack of gold coins in the corner of the room. At first you see nothing, but Crichton's keen eyes find and point out to you that to the left and right of the stack of coins are tiny, coin sized slots.
After having studied the stack of coins for a few moments, you have managed to deduce that it is in fact a pillar of stone shaped like coins, but enchanted with a potent illusion to make it appear to be made of gold. The runes on the sides of the coin are the same as the ones noted on ancient coins of the Thassilonian Empire.
