Hi, All - Today's the day that we are packing in earnest for our move. I'm going to be fairly unavailable for the next week or so, but will try to check in. Sorry for the long delay - hope to be back in touch with all of you soon!

Hey guys, I'm being sent out of town from Aug8-Aug15. I hope to still have internet access, but I can't guarantee that. I will do my best to keep up on my games, though I expect my posting rate will drop. My apologies in advance. Please bot me if needed.

It's nothing that can't wait until this Ironfang ambassador and his doggie have been dealt with, but it looks like our militia training earned 10pts. That should move the militia to Lvl2 right?

Correct, but the militia "levels up" from accrued training during the Upkeep Phase at the start of each militia turn.

Hey y'all my posting rate probably won't be stellar the next month or so. We're 32 days from the election so I'm going to be busy busy busy.

I'll still be able to post at my first job, but if I haven't posted by 2pm central I'm probably not going to that day. Thanks for understanding and things should be back to normal after Nov 6.

Thorek is getting a bit ahead of himself, he'll be the first to conceded that we should Find the camp before we start planning fancy ambushes.

So I guess we need to decide if we're going to have a go at attacking, or returning to Hidden Hope to formulate a plan. I vote for the latter.

Could one of our characters create a sketch-map of the camp? And when we head back we should head the wrong direction at first and then hide our trail. I'd hate to be followed back to base!

A message to all my games:

I apologize for disappearing late last week! I am a freelancer and my work has suddenly and unexpectedly kicked into high gear. On top of that, I’m attempting to apply to graduate programs, and most of those applications are due in early January. I was hoping that I could keep up my posting rate, but between work and the holidays I’m clearly going to slump a little.

If I’m a player in this game, PLEASE feel free to bot me if I haven’t posted in a bit. I really appreciate it.

If I’m the GM, I can only ask for your kind patience. I’ll try to post ASAP to keep us moving.

Sorry, again, for the slightly delayed notice. Things should clear up after the next two weeks.

As a heads-up, I'm going to be traveling to visit family starting tonight and continuing through January 5th. I'll have internet and try to check in when I can, but family is unpredictable so I may disappear for a few days at a time. I don't intend to let it get to the point where I need to be botted, but if I'm holding things up, please do.

No. Unfortunately, it's just a single potion for the whole party.

A healing or buff effect would be best, I think. Maybe something to boost a casting stat in case we need to Charm a prisoner at some point? Otherwise I think Lesser Restoration is a good bet, it never stops being handy even at higher levels.

M Half-Elf Wizard 3 (Diviner), AC 16, HP 19/20, FRW +2/+3/+4, INIT +9, Party Reward Tracker | NPC Activity Tracker | Personal Gear Tracker | Combat Status Tracker

My vote is Lesser Restoration as well. Thanks!

It seems like the consensus for the Gift is a Potion of Lesser Restoration. You can either add that to the Party Treasury spreadsheet or one of you can choose to hold onto it for now.

Moving forward, did you want to start the next militia week or get started on setting up the ambush/fallback position?

I'd prefer to work on the ambush/fallback spot, then do our raid on the camp since this will presumably be as soon after the Hidden Hope ambush as we can reasonable manage. EDIT: After reading Vayelan's answer in the Gameplay thread I'm okay with setting up the ambush site, but then holding off on the raid. Attacking a supply caravana sounds fun and profitable!

I saved my last Militia Week post in a different folder so I can copy/paste it in here quickly once we're ready. If no one objects I don't mind taking the lead on that aspect of the game.

I might do that for the Hell's Rebels game too, if Cyrioul hasn't already...

Hi all. Sorry for the delays, and thanks for the messages of concern. I have been completely swamped at work and unfortunately not able to post much. This game has likely suffered the worst.

While I’d like to say that the worst is behind me, I know that’s unlikely to be true (particularly long-term). If you’d rather I bow out than have an inconsistent poster, I’m fine with that decision. If you’d like me to remain in, I will try to get caught up and start posting again.

Apologies again.

If you wanted to add "Botting Instructions" to you profile, maybe that would help things run a little more smoothly when you're not able to post reliable during a combat?

So what are we thinking for our ambush/fallback position? Some cover for ourselves and a difficult-terrain "kill zone" would probably be the least work-intensive. Small holes dug over a clearing, sharpened stakes, a tree trunk lying across a berm...

If we could combine it with Entangle or similar magic we'd be in a good place. Prioritize casters & anything with scent to limit their ability to find Hidden Hope for a counterattack. Location...maybe a mile from their camp? Far enough away that we won't be detected easily but close enough to get to before a wolf-rider could run us down?

Whatever we do, I think we should build the ambush spot and then attack that same night so the site doesn't get discovered too soon.

Agreed on the timing, and yes: somewhere that's easily defended by nature seems like the best bet. Maybe Boudra and someone(s) stealthy can go out scouting for one?

What if we tried a little Dragonheart and used fire? Pile some brushwood and soak it in oil to corral (or at least reveal) hobgoblins while we shoot them? Use deadfall or dirt piles to block the entrance/exit to the ravine.

I dunno, y'all, seems like it's gonna be a scrap any which way.

Just need to confirm some details.

Will the party launch the raid by day or night?
Will you approach the camp from the east or west? (I have updated the Encounter Map with the camp map)
Will you approach stealthily? In disguise? Direct attack?

LG Dwarf Warpriest10 l hp 89/89 l AC24 (T16, FF23) l F +12, R +7, W +12, Ini +3 l CMB +11 CMD25 l Minor Blessings 1/3 l Fervor 1/8 l Dorn-Dergar: Reach l Perc +23, SM +15 l Active Buffs/Conditions: (none) Dorn-Dergar

My understanding was:

Night raid
Approaching along the watchtower side, to rain attacks down on the camp below
Approach stealthily on the approach and then moving fast to the fallback point.

Probably only a few rounds of fighting on the actual raid, enough to kill half a dozen Ironfangs and light some fires, then withdraw to the ambush site.

Any objections to that (group or GM)?
