by the way, the dead villagers rising from a mass grave... totally cool move
I'm really glad you like it. While the encounter idea itself comes from the AP book, so I can't take credit for it, I wanted to make it vivid with how I presented and described things.
Of course, I was also worried I might make it too vivid. I wasn't sure what level of horror and gore everyone is comfortable with.

Cedric Thistlewyne |

No worries from me, there. I'm a huge horror buff, and basically running Hellraiser: the module for one face-to-face group as an introductory experience on the side while GMing Strange Aeons for the experienced group :P
EDIT: and very well said by Thorek below me. Hear, hear.

Thorek Ironspark |

I have a pretty high threshold for that sort of thing, and I am of the opinion that emphasizing the horribleness of villains & monsters helps underscore why its necessary to fight them.
But I understand not everyone feels like way. Either way, good job setting the scene Vayelan!

Cedric Thistlewyne |

I just noticed that Caladra isn't on the initiative roster. It also appears that her player hasn't posted in about 23 days. Has anyone heard anything from her?

Thorek Ironspark |

Caladra's player hasn't posted in the Hell's Rebels campaign for a while either.

Cyrioul Fasar |

Sorry all. Virus. Surviving on nyquil. Hope to catch up in the morning. :(

Thorek Ironspark |

That sounds amazing! Have a great time :)

Cyrioul Fasar |

I’m late, but yay, Iceland! Hope y’all are having an awesome time.

Hello, everyone, and sorry for my long absence. Two weeks ago, we found out about a happy change of employment for my spouse (primary wage earner), right before hitting the road to go on vacation and see family, and it’s given us a lot to think about and plan for re: this summer.
Well, after 2000+ miles of driving, apartment hunting, and catching up with old friends who are very excited that we’re moving back closer, we’re now settled in with our family for a couple weeks of visiting and approaching a more normal schedule. I hope to catch up with a post tomorrow, but - again - my apologies for delays that I’ve caused.

This was the enemy's previous turn:
Seeing you approach, unhindered, through the darkness, and hearing the fall of the other Ironfangs, this last remaining hunter takes a step back. She pulls a flask from her belt and downs its contents.
Starting with Cedric and Boudra, the whole party may act now.
Since only Thorek could see it, I put it in a spoiler for him. I suppose I should have made that more clear. Also, since there is only the one enemy left, the party essentially acts in a single block. My apologies for the confusing sequence. If it helps to clarify, here's the (simplified) breakdown of the past two rounds:
1. Bree throws Thunderstone
2. Cyrioul uses MM Wand
3. Dog flees
4. Lily casts Vanish on herself
5. Thorek moves up
6. Shalra (Last Enemy) drinks Cat's Grace Potion
7. Cedric channels energy
8. Boudra moves up
9. Bree(bot) moves up
10. Cyrioul moves and grabs rock for Light
11. Lily(bot) takes cover
12. Thorek charges and misses
13. Shalra misses shot at Thorek

Cyrioul Fasar |

Hi, all - unexpected trip out of town for the next 4 days. It's a good thing, but going to be tiring, as I seem to be coming down with something, too. :(
See you Monday. Bot as needed!

Cyrioul Fasar |

Hey, all -
I know the arrival is still a month off, but what are your plans for the playtest? I know that I'd like to play at least a couple things, and am definitely hoping to run something, but I don't know for sure what format I'm looking at yet (Roll20 vs. PBP). Any thoughts?
Thanks!

I'm extremely excited for adventure(s) related to the Last Theorem & Osirion's countdown clocks! :) Probably going to end up playing online, I'm at my limit for live games.

Cedric Thistlewyne |

I'll definitely be looking to be involved in the playtest both online and in person. I'll probably take a week or so to digest all of the new information, and then look to join and/or run some PbP tables. I'm really excited by what they've previewed so far. I'm curious to see how well it translates into PbP, with its different needs.

They’ve been doing a firehouse of information so far - crazy! If you want a passive way of absorbing it, I thought the podcast recordings with the Glass Cannon guys were pretty fun, and a good intro.

Boudra Kellanet |

They are fun! I'm hoping to try it out a little bit with my IRL group, but I have to admit my tolerance for reading through rules is low...it might take a while.

Bree Fairchild |

hey, now that we have a "shop," everyone should try to go through the treasure list and make sure they have marked the things that they 1)already have or 2)want to keep.
I also feel like we should have a chat about the Caladra issue. I hope her player is okay, but it doesn't look like she's coming back. Do we want to replace her? Carry on without her? Any suggestions?

Boudra Kellanet |

I too hope she’s ok, but it looks like she won’t be rejoining the game. I’m fine carrying on without replacing her; we started with a very large group, and we seem to be doing fine.
As far as gear goes, I’m on my phone so can’t edit the spreadsheet right now...but I’d like to claim:
—dust of tracelessness
And if no one wants them:
—potion of aid
—brooch of shielding(? Unless people think we’re better just selling it)
I notice no one’s claimed that pearl of power yet...arcane people, go crazy! :)

Cyrioul Fasar |

I have updated the loot spreadsheet to include the spoils from Orlu's hunters. I've sorted the spreadsheet so that the most valuable unclaimed items are at the top, then it goes down from there.
I claimed the pearl of power, but am happy to pass it to someone else if the situation necessitates! I also grabbed a potion of cure light wounds, an alchemist's fire, and - for flavor - the bottle of Oldlaw Whiskey. I'm going back through the things I've already grabbed to make sure that I still need them.
- - - - -
As for Caladra, I agree that no re-recruitment is necessary, but I like the flavor of her staying behind with the townspeople to help with defense.

Thorek and Cedric have pretty good saves, so someone else should grab that cloak of resistance. Lily, we have over 200 arrows and some +1 arrows, you should grab those. Cyr should identify that Aegis. I grabbed a couple of knickknacks. We should do our best to get rid of as much of the stuff we don't need and see if we can distribute some of the random armor and weapons and gear among the "militia"
Oh and I also like the idea of Cal hanging back to protect and train said militia

Boudra Kellanet |

Hi all! I am going on a belated honeymoon and will have only sporadic access to internet between now and August 4th. I’ll try to check in when I can, but please don’t hesitate to bot me if need be!

DM Vayelan: There's a new tab on the Party Reward Tracker titled "SOLD TO NOVVI" that shows what we're selling. I'm planning to keep 8 sets of studded leather, 8 longswords, and 8 longbows for our Militia. The total sale should result in us getting 2487 GP and 5 SP.
For purchases, there's another new tab, and we would be spending a total of 4552 GP:
- 100 GP for Bree's MWK lockpicks (Fulfilled)
- 2 GP for Lily's blunt arrows (Fulfilled)
- 2350 GP for Thoreks +1 dorn-dergar (Ordered on trade for magic hammer, GM how do you want to do the accounting for this?)
- 1650 GP for Thorek's MWK full plate (Ordered)
- 600 GP for Cyrioul's four scroll requests (see invisibility, scorching ray, cat's grace, fox's cunning)
As a note, I'm conscious that I'm spending a fair amount of the entire party's coin to enrich my spellbook, but my hope is that many of these utility spells can be used to fashion wondrous items to help us.
If there are any other purchases, get 'em in! :) And if there are any magic items you're hankering for Cyrioul to get working on, make sure to suggest them to him so he can request the appropriate scroll if he needs it. Magic weapons incoming at level 5!

Cyr, I truly appreciate your spreadsheet skills :) If you don't mind learning eagle's splendor, I could go for a circlet of persuasion at some time in the future.
Since we are going a tad hog wild here, I wonder if I could also grab a mw backpack from Novvi (I was trying to be conservative), either now or in the future for 50gp.

Cyrioul Fasar |

No problem! Since Cedric can prepare Eagles Splendor from his spell list, I figured that would permit later crafting - te added DC to Spellcraft shouldn’t be an issue.
If you want a MW backpack, Cyr has one, but he doesn’t actually need to carry that much stuff. Would that help?

DM Vayelan |

Very impressive work, Cyrioul.
4702 - 2487.5 = 2214.5gp owed to Novvi before trading in the +1 Earthbreaker.
The magic earthbreaker is worth 2340gp, so trading that in would leave Novvi owing the party 126gp
With 50gp owed for the MWK Backpack, the final tally would be Novvi paying you 76gp.
She will return with the magic dorn-dergar and mwk plate armor in a little more than a week's time, but she will insist on taking the magic earthbreaker in trade now since it may be necessary to trade it to Kraggodan to acquire the ordered items. A Diplomacy, Bluff, or Appraise check may convince her to wait until her return to claim the earthbreaker.

No need, I'll give up the hammer and use my Blessings to make up the difference for the dorn-dergar
