Quick note--Thorek would have been over 120ft away when the wolf went (assuming it's one of the Ironfangs in initiative). I've currently got Thorek in the square he would have been in prior. Don't know how fast it is but that might be relevant. Would have still cast the spell (assuming it can't reach me) but otherwise held ground.

Concentration is +2 for Con because Thorek currently has no ranks in Con. Shouldn't need it for a spell when he's not threatened though.

Honestly, this is my fault for not being more patient before posting out of turn. Apologies!

Ugh, I can't count. 100ft away, not 120. But dorn-dergar would grant me an AoO either way.

Macros Scenario 1-10 Slides

Thorek gets the AoO, but, since the wolf's speed is 50, it makes the charge, the hit, and the trip.

So if it's relevant I got corrected about how reach weapons on corners work the other day, here's the link. I believe Thorek & Cedrik's positioning should be correct for a flank, although it looks weird to me on the map. FAQ re: reach weapons & corners

Just for the record, I'd like Thorek's first action out of combat (as a general rule before looting) to be finishing off any unconscious enemies. War is hell, but I'd just as soon they don't get healed and we can't bring them with us.

Macros Scenario 1-10 Slides

Okay, here are some rules for the next section I have put them into the Campaign Info for ease of reference...

The resources you and the refugees need to survive are abstracted as Provision Points.

Food:

One Provision point sustains a person for one day (and consists of fluid and stable food). Consuming only half a Provision Point per day sustains a character, but leaves that person distracted and irritable. A person who eats only a half portion takes a -2 penalty on attack rolls, damage rolls, ability checks, and saving throws until they consume a full portion. A person who consumes half provisions for more than three days a week must begin making Constitution checks each day to avoid taking nonlethal damage.

Shelter:

A character can construct a temporary shelter sufficient for one Medium-sized creature with a successful DC 15 Survival check and one hour's work. For every 2 points by which this result exceeds 15, the shelter can accommodate one additional Medium creature. Sleeping without shelter leaves a person fatigued. Sleeping without shelter a second day leaves a person exhausted, which persists until the person can get a good night's rest.

Each day, an NPC can be assigned to perform one task around camp or generally employ skills on your behalf. The most useful such projects include:

Assist: NPCs can assist you or another NPC with any skill they are trained in.

Craft: With access to the necessary tools, NPCs can craft finished goods for you upon request, using normal Craft skill rules.

Forage/Hunt: If you spend a full day hunting/gathering and succeed at a DC 10 Survival check gain 1 Provision Point. For every two by which you exceed 10, you provide a single additional Provision Point.

Herds: NPCs can recover a single goat or sheep with a successful DC 16 Handle Animal Check. Then, captive animals can be maintained with a single successful Handle Animal check (DC = 10 + the number of animals) per day. A captive animal generates 1 Provision point every three days in the form of milk (and eventually cheese or butter), or can be butchered to immediately provide 2 Provision Points.

Scouting: NPCs trained in Survival or Stealth can scout the area for you.

Standing Watch: An NPC can stand watch, attempting Perception checks.

Support: One or more NPCs can follow you to assist you on your tasks.

Using Skills: NPCs can use any of their listed skills on your behalf.

Named NPCs:

Jet (Aristocrat 2): Jet keeps the resources maintained, making sure the refugees use the most perishable items first and helping people pack balanced loads. She knows many stories and songs that she shares with the others. So long as Jet oversees the cooking, the camp generates 1 additional Provision Point each day.

Kining (Expert 2): The stolid dwarf keeps everyone’s weapons sharp and true, and though she grumbles, she trains the refugees how to fight so they don’t panic. All the refugees gain a +1 bonus on initiative rolls while Kining remains with the group.

Oreld (Expert 2): Oreld gathers materials from the woods to make rudimentary potions. Every day, he can make 1 dose of bloodroot poison, one tanglefoot bag, or one vial of antitoxin, but doing so prevents him from working on any other tasks that day.

Aubrin the Green is a special case. She can't see very well, so is unlikely to be suited for combat, or hunting/gathering.:

Damaged Vision (Ex) Aubrin can see relatively clearly for 10 feet, but she takes a –2 penalty on Perception checks and attack rolls against targets within 10 feet due to her damaged vision. From 10 feet to 30 feet, her vision is severely clouded. She takes a –5 penalty on all Perception checks beyond 10 feet, and all targets at that range have concealment from her. Past 30 ft., all targets have total concealment from Aubrin.

Over the course of this adventure, you will be able to promote certain NPCs. This will allow you to retrain an NPC to another NPC class or an additional level in their class. Increasing the NPC class gains them an increase in their attack and skill bonuses by 1 and adding 3 hit points.

Nerdgasm. :) So many fun things to put into data tables...

I'm cooking up some ideas for how we can address this in a quick layout AND keep track of our choices. I think this'll need to be a new spreadsheet, though, so that the treasure one doesn't get too gummed up. I'll start work now, but it'll probably be sometime next week before I get it perfected. :)

As a note, just to make sure everyone is aware, Cedric has the community domain which comes with the soothing touch ability. It heals nonlethal damage and cures the shaken, sickened and fatigued conditions. So it can help us stretch supplies and rest if needed, and is also useful for calming Caladra down once she starts raging. Based on my current Wisdom, I can use it 5 times/day.

alright, since we're leveling, i'll go ahead and do my level 2 stuff. Gonna start going barbarian now. Like i said earlier, her short temper has been shown already and her near death experience I feel are good start for her decent towards barbarianism. At first i won't really realize it, but once it starts to sink in I think it'll be fun seeing how Caladra handles it.

level 2 HP: 1d12 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 THAT IS HORRIBLE NEWS

+1 BAB, +2 Fort
Skills (4): Acrobatics (1), Intimidate (2), Perception (1)

Movement: +10 ft.

Gain RAGE! 6 rounds/day

I think that's it for a level 1 Barbarian being added. I think my perception will jump a bit since it'll be a class skill now but that's really it.

Also as a heads up, while not intentional, but given how I've written the way Caladra's body feels when dealing with magic, I think I may have her go down the superstition line when it comes to rage powers. Not 100% on it, but the idea is there.

That's not been my interpretation of Endure Elements in the past - this is just for temperature. But then, camping usually just gets handwaived in other campaigns - it's nice to see that this isn't the case here.

hmmm, 2 more questions (hope I'm not being a pain). 1) Would you allow someone to take 20 for say building a shelter? For example, if Aubrin takes 20, that would give her 27, which would provide shelter for 7 people. I would assume that would be wrong to do that for hunting or something like that, but for building a shelter, I'm not sure it would be out of bounds.
    2) is someone limited to only one action a day? Could Aubrin construct 2 shelters a day (since it only takes 1 hour)? If we put her on building duty, she could practically provide shelter for everyone, letting the others focus on gathering provisions and such.

Mechanically speaking taking 20 on something that takes 1 hour means that you'll be done in 20 hours

See here, where it makes the case for taking ten, but not taking 20.

I don't see anything on the boards about limiting to a single action per day, but, it would make sense, since each person also has their other, normal daily actions that they must do.

Thanks, also, for the IC conversation about party leadership. I think for PBP games, it's a really helpful role to have in place to keep pushing us all forward.

@Cedric - let me know how I can help set things up for you re: figuring out who is doing what and when for the townsfolk. The spreadsheet isn't quite done yet, but the basics of survival (shelter, foraging/hunting, and herding) are in there, and I can add in things like crafting checks and knowledge during the coming week.

I'm hesitant to give feedback before seeing it, but maybe have the primary columns be Date Used -> Name -> Class -> Attack -> Skill 1 -> skill 2 -> etc. That way if the primary concern at the moment is Suvival, I can sort by column to organize them by their bonus in that area. Then, after assigning an NPC to a task, the first column can be used to note what the most recent day they've been used in is. (So, right now, they'd all have a 0 in that column.) Does that make sense?
