So the character you are playing in campaign mode isn't actually a PFS PC?
It can be, but does not have to be. And as you noted, logistical problems crop up if you run them. If you want to run for just PFS legal characters, Campaign Mode is too much. One solution is to have players start with their PFS legal characters and then level them up during play, keeping in mind that the leveled up versions will not be legal outside of the campaign. This is how my table of Tears at Bitter Manor played.

That's exactly the point of campaign mode. You play the entire AP with the GM's custom rules, and with a character made just for that campaign. You get chronicle sheets that you can apply to a PFS character.
edit: in response to TOZ's comment above, you can't have PFS characters play in campaign mode games, but you can 'make a copy' of a PFS character to be your campaign mode character, if that meets your GMs requirements.

So, just to make sure I'm getting it, if I start with a brand new PC, 0 xp, PFS-legal, give him a PFS number etc. and start playing an AP with him, even though I would receive chronicles as I went through, he wouldn't actually be a PFS PC anymore. If the AP game fell apart at some point (as they sometimes do), I wouldn't have any way of continuing to play that PC in PFS, though I would still have the chronicle sheets I had received along the way (that would have been applied to some other PC or PCs). Yes?

I originally said I was done with Pathfinder Society, playing and dming. Guess what? I still have a whole bunch of AP books just sitting here collecting dust when I could be putting them to use. Plus why stop at 2 stars when I can go for three. Not to mention, I barely touched up on one of the Best APs of all time. Rise of the Runelords and Mummy's Mask are also up there, but Mummy's Mask has already been DMed from me.
I'm going to DM Reign of Winter, books 1 and 2 at least, and we will see how it goes from there. Who's in? If you all don't have PFS characters ready, especially since book 1 requires levels 2-4, I can always DM this in campaign mode.
Count me in, any way you run it. Russian soldiers with machineguns!!!

What Redelia said. Your PFS PC never enters the campaign, but sits at 0XP waiting for your Campaign Mode PC to earn them the chronicles, even if your Campaign Mode PC is an exact duplicate of your PFS PC. Your PFS PC still only levels by chronicles.

Recruiting here for Honor's Echo. Ideal for new players. I would prefer core races as I only have the CRB but would consider others. I'm a relatively new GM but have graduated from GM Redalia's school and hope to make it a fun experience. Slides are all ready to go so we can get started as soon as I have 4 or 5 willing volunteers

A new GM! Very cool! Just check your link for the sign up sheet, you haven't shared it, we must ask permission to access it. Have fun GMing!

Done - I think!

Campaign Mode is not tied to the characters receiving credit in any way. So later books earn the chronicles and they are held until the character reaches the level range of the chronicle. The campaign mode characters level however you want them to.
Not to thread jack but...
But there's new language in the Season 19 Guide p 12 "This is similar
to applying credit to a pregenerated character (see Applying
Credit on page 7), except that players can apply Campaign
mode credit to characters of the same level or lower..."
That makes it seem like a high level chronicle can go to a lower level character ie the Russian solider one of Reign of Winter to a 1st level PC? Maybe I'm reading it wrong?

Due to a significant difference in playstyle, we unfortunately cannot avail ourselves of GM DoubleGold's offer.
Thus we are still looking for a replacement GM for [url=https://paizo.com/campaigns/EmeraldSpire]our Emerald spire jaunt[/url.
Does this mean that DoubleGold will be doing the ROW series?

I do not doubt that he will weigh in on that shortly.

Out of curiosity I wandered over and had a look, based on how that whole conversation came across, I wouldn't volunteer to GM for your group.
Hitting up a GM and giving him a job interview like you guys were doing him a favour was a bit precious, and given you guys look like you have already gone through a couple of GM's maybe you could have been a bit more patient and possibly given DG the opportunity to finish the level and see if you could 'calibrate' playstyles.
It really gets my goat when someone steps up to take over a rescue game and then gets a raw deal and brushed like that.

I still need less games on my hands Dming, that puts me down to four games Dming. Two of which are major APs. Short modules have another week for them. Though I may take a break once some of those are over. The reason the new Pokemon game for Nintendo Switch is coming out on Nov 16th, and I may binge on that for three days, maybe even a week, which may cause me to ignore these threads for a while, and I'm trying not to ignore games I've started.

It's okay, they are a set group, that has played together for a while, looking for very specific things. They will find a GM that fits their playstyle.

Thank you, first for volunteering and second for your awesome attitude here.
Gameday VII wrapping up soon so I have a handful of characters becoming available. Will it be slower over the holidays or are people going to start pitching games again when the con is wrapped up?
Yes, to both. There will be a lot of games recruting, but the holiday pace is slower.
Hmm

Apoligies. I’ve just read in the scenario that
“All players must use one of the 1st-level Pathfinder Society pregenerated characters, which are available at paizo.com/pathfinderSociety/gmResources.”
I am still happy to run the scenario but if you have signed up already please be aware
Darren
It's opened up to regular PFS characters now
see last post

Brilliant! Thanks. I’ll get cracking!

Just a reminder, for those looking to try a slightly different PFS experience, playing with the same group of PC's for multiple scenarios (6 in this case!)
This time, for level 3-4 pc's
Check out the recruiting thread for more details!
Intended start in Mid January with the Siege of the Diamond City multi-table special... then we run from there.

***** RETROCON ANNOUNCEMENT *****
I believe everyone has had a chance to sign up, so at this point, we are changing the restrictions on games. As of now, each player may sign up for two RPG games, as long as they are for different specials and at least one of the two is either Cosmic Captive or else not on Paizo.com. Each player may also sign up at one table of the Adventure Card Game, if they wish.

Here is a link to the Retrocon thread.
I'll talk to Hmm about getting it added into the Flaxseed header or somewhere similar.

GM Hmm |

You know that problem that some people have editing campaigns? Guess who ALSO has that problem?
Ever since RetroCon was announced, I have not been able to edit the Flaxseed Campaign to include a link. Though I bet that I could incluude links from that Conventions doc. We could also could probably include links in my header and in Redelia's to make this easier to find.
I'll try and get on that later today.
