Hey Gang!

For our next Play by Post convention, we will be running four different older specials at the same time. This convention consists of only multi-table specials, but we expect normal games will continue during this time.

During this convention, we’ll be running the specials
Siege of the Diamond City run by Shifty,
Legacy of the Stonelords run by Redelia,
Year of the Shadow Lodge run by GM Dennis, and
Cosmic Captive run by Tyranius

We are asking GMs who are interested in participating to sign up by October 14. Please go to this google form and fill it out carefully.

We will notify all GMs who fill out this form of our decision soon.

★ ---- ★ ---- ★ ---- ★

An announcement directed at players, including sign-up instructions, will be coming in a few weeks.

Thanks for your interest! I’m looking forward to this, and I hope you will join us.

Really love the idea of offering up Specials many of us have never had the chance to GM or to play.

Looking forward to doing both!

Thanks for putting this together.

Well, I cannot replay siege since I already have, it I have never run it.

That might work.

Heck, I'll take either seeker tier of this one!

You are not wrong, though.

Dark Archive 5/5 5/55/5 ** Venture-Captain, Germany—Rhein Main South

Interesting, maybe I get to play siege finally.

4/5

Wait, are all four going to be going on at the same time?
Or will some of them be staggered slightly?

Either way, been hoping to see Siege of the Diamond City show up, as a launching point for one of my ongoing 6-pack GMing runs.

Guess I should take advantage of it here for the 2019 version!

Silver Crusade 3/5 5/5 Venture-Lieutenant, Online—PbP

All four will be at the exact same time, EM!

2/5 5/5 **

Have you determined the limitations for the simultaneous Specials yet?

I.e. How many can you GM? How many can you play?

I don't think I would GM more than one at a time, but I thought I'd ask the question along with play.

Silver Crusade 3/5 5/5 Venture-Lieutenant, Online—PbP

Each person will only be allowed to GM one, and play one.

That is a good plan.

Good to know! Now to decide which to try and sign up for: Stonelords or Siege? Decisions, decisions...

4/5 **** Venture-Lieutenant, Maryland—Hagerstown

That should help control the chaos.

If there is not enough players, doubtful, for a scenario, would there be an opening of play restrictions?

Grand Lodge 4/5 5/55/55/55/5 **** Venture-Captain, Minnesota

We'll rebance If needed, but we're going to try the 1 seat per player first.

Hmm

Will the ACG component of Cosmic Captive be offered? I have player and GM credit for all of these in Core and Standard (except for core Legacy of the Stonelords, which I've thrown my hat in the ring to run), and I've never tried the ACG version of a special.

Also, could somebody point me to a tutorial on how ACG works in PbP?

Thanks!

EDIT: I don't have standard GM credit for Blood Under Absalom, or core credit for playing/GMing Race for the Runecarved Key, in case you are planning to run those in the future! ;)

Silver Crusade 3/5 5/5 Venture-Lieutenant, Online—PbP

We do plan to include ACG Cosmic Captive. For more information on ACG by PbP, I would suggest looking at Flaxseed on Deck.

Hi Michael. We are planning to do Cosmic Captive. The RPG VOs were kind enough to do some extra work to make that possible.

As for how ACG works in Play by Post, we use a database to manage the game. Players themselves can use some kind of deck handler (we have a google sheet version that is by far the most common). You can put the info about your cards into the sheet and it will shuffle, draw, etc all the cards for you. It also generates a little tag to go at the bottom of your post to let others know what you skills, powers, and cards are.

The database manages all the locations and includes some random cards in each post in case the players need one. If on a turn a location gets shuffled, we just use a die roll to randomize until the person running the db has a chance to catch it up to the actions in the forum.

Aside from that, we make lots of notes for each other, like "feel free to use my blessings, but leave me 1 for my turn." It is also fairly common to rely on Google Hanouts to help facilitate some quick communication.

You can check out an example of a gameplay thread here. Feel free to post in the link Christine gave you or contact me if you have more question.

I believe that Siege of the Diamond City & Legacy of the Stonelords

are the two best PFS specials. Exciting to see them happening here.

I would agree with you on that. I have ran Siege and played Legacy. I may want to switch it up and play siege and hopefully get selected run legacy.

Legacy of the Stonelords run by Redelia,

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do I sign up to GM?
We have already finished GM recruitment. If you are interested in GMing specials in PbP, keep your eyes open for our next convention, starting in March.

How do I play?
Enter your details on this spreadsheet.

Will there be boons for Players and GMs?
Absolutely. This is a convention for which you don’t have to leave home.

Can I participate if I am new to Play-by-Post?
Certainly! Just let your GMs and Players know. They’ll be glad to help.

How many games can I sign up to play?
You may only sign up to play at oneRPG Ptable during this convention.

Wah! Why do you have so few tables of the Special? I won’t get a seat!
Don’t panic! We will be starting with only a few tables of each special. We’re doing this so that we can better respond to demand, and so that we don’t overschedule tables. For each special, we’ll have a waitlist. We will add tables as the waitlist fills.

I have another question! You can post here, or contact me or any of the other overseers. MorkXII is the card game overseer for Cosmic Captive, and you may contact him or any of the other ACG online venture officers with questions related to the ACG.

Silver Crusade 3/5 5/5 Venture-Lieutenant, Online—PbP

Clarification, since several people have asked me about it:

You may sign up for one RPG table and on ACG table.

Liberty's Edge 4/5

are there going to be other scenarios or just specials?

Silver Crusade 3/5 5/5 Venture-Lieutenant, Online—PbP

There will not be other scenarios that are part of the convention. We are hoping that non-convention games will continue like normal during this time.

Silver Crusade 3/5 5/5 Venture-Lieutenant, Online—PbP

Some tables have already filled up. If you want to play, and there is not room at the tier you want, please make use of the waiting lists; we will make new tables as there is sufficient interest on waiting lists.

Silver Crusade 3/5 5/5 Venture-Lieutenant, Online—PbP

Some new tables have been added, if you are interested in playing and had trouble finding a seat.

***** ANNOUNCEMENT *****

I believe everyone has had a chance to sign up, so at this point, we are changing the restrictions on games. As of now, each player may sign up for two RPG games, as long as they are for different specials and at least one of the two is either Cosmic Captive or else not on Paizo.com. Each player may also sign up at one table of the Adventure Card Game, if they wish.

2/5 5/5 **

Cosmic Captive sign-ups look funny.

I just signed up for the 6th Core 1-2 spot, but all I saw was RPG 7-8, RPG 1-2, and Core 1-2 tables.

Is that the way it was supposed to look?

Silver Crusade 3/5 5/5 Venture-Lieutenant, Online—PbP

Yep. We've been shifting things a bit based on players who signed up on the waiting lists. That was what there was demand for.

Noob question: what does a special/ACG mean?
