Get a heightened awareness wand. It lasts 10 minutes, gives you a +2 on perception and knowledge rolls, AND may (your choice if you are willing to terminate the spell) give you a +4 to initiative if that door you went through was as bad as you thought it would be. It's useful up into the highest levels too. Just for the +4 it is worth it.

It's a good spell in a wand, but it's not Core.

Here is a neat guide with some suggestions, not all are core though. Shield is nice, but you can't cast it on others since it's a personal spell. Protection from Evil is probably what I'd go for if you already have CLW and want something defensive you can use to buff during combat.
Personally, I don't care for damage dealing spells in wands. They typically skew up in damage as you gain levels but the wand doesn't level up. A wand of magic missile literally costs 15 gp for 1d4+1 damage. Honestly, I think it should hurt them more if you just made taped up bundles of 15 gold pieces and chunked it at them... And then you could probably get the money back after they're dead!

- wand of CLW
- +2 strength-rated MWK composite darkwood longbow
- wand of shield is great, but better with a spring-loaded wrist sheath
- save for a cloak of resistance (1k)
- or a +1 AC enhancement to your armor (1k)
- save for a +1 enhancement to that greatsword, so you can hurt ethereal stuff and bypass some DRs! the +1 to damage is piddly but being able to hurt certain creatures means you don't have to turn and run when you see them. Although if you have a scroll of magic weapon you could whip that out, I suppose (2k)

I took the Deadly Grace ability, but I see now that Paizo has ruled you can't apply ability modifiers to mystic bolts as if they were weapons. That means I have effectively wasted one of my vigilante talents. But I didn't see a blog post saying that people can rebuild their characters after that change. Have their been any comments elsewhere to that effect?

Direct that question to the PFS subforum. If anyone has an answer, that's where you'll find it.

I think this would be covered by the standard rebuild rules. You built assuming one thing, it has been clarified as not working, so you get a free rebuild out of it.

I would say this is the answer, as a misunderstanding was had.

So could somebody please explain to me how Faction Journal Card rewards changing from Season to Season works? Do my characters who have picked up bonuses in previous seasons lose them? Do I have to re-earn bonuses and Objectives from Season to Season?
Also, it's Season 8 now, right?

The rules are laid out in the Faction Journal Card free download.
A PC joining a faction can only acquire the most recent version of a faction’s
card; however, a PC who has checked at least one box on an earlier faction card may still continue to fulfill its goals and earn its
rewards even into the new season. The number of goals completed is measured by those fulfilled on that card only—goals completed
on a different Faction Journal Card do not contribute to those on the first card.

If a character moves on to a new Season's card, do they lose the bonuses from the old one?

All Gm's out there. Don't miss out on the free Expanded narrative Boon for the season. I know I nearly did. Additional replays for credit are always good.

bluedove |

Is that the boon being offered to GM's for the PbP Gameday?

GM Hmm |

So now all our stars can recharge, no matter where we are! I've already noticed the effect of people actually using stars to replay a game with me.
Yay!
Hmm

bluedove |

All society GMs can download and apply this year's Expanded Narrative Boon. You don't have to GM a convention to access it.
LOL! Go figure, I just traded for one of these recently. >.<

Trading for one is fine as you can have 1 from each season leading to tons of replay value.

![]() |

I think I know what the answers to my questions are, but I have to ask anyways.
This boon allows one replay per season per star after GM'ing the appropriate number of games, Correct?
And you can receive one boon per season. This boon is neither rechargable nor reusable, correct?
But multiple boons will allow for further replays?

![]() |

Having gm stars allows you one replay per star.
This boon allows you to recharge expended replays totalling up to you gm star rating.
You can use one expanded narrative per season.
So if i have 3 stars... and i burned one replay years ago... i can use expanded narrative to recharge one. If i use two more replays in season 8... i can continue using this same narrative to recharge 3 replays by next gencon. At which point i can acquire another expanded narrative to use season 9.

Do we have to GM a game this season in order to apply that to future seasons?
For example, I have not GMed a game since the new season started, and might not GM one until the next season. Will I be able to put a game from next season as my first game on that list?

Once you have the sheet it doesn't matter what season you GM from. Each game you GM gets marked in one of the slots up to your current GM stars. Though you can't mark past games you GM'd, just games after the date your received the chronicle.

Directly from the Additional Resources.
Equipment: all equipment on pages 22–23, all magic items on pages 26–27 (Note: handstraps of roofjumping applies to the Acrobatics skill); Feat: Sandwalker; Traits: all traits on pages 7–9 are allowed except Duskwalker Agent (Notes: Uwaga Highlander applies only to the Stealth skill and Eyes and Ears of the City applies only to the Perception skill; no campaign traits are allowed.)
So, yes, it appears to be legal. For future reference, if you have any concerns something might be PFS legal. Check the Additional Resources page located in my link above. You'll be able to find your answer there! Hopefully that helps.

Can someone please mark me as inactive for this? It's taking an awful lot of space on my campaign page.

You can hide it yourself!
Go to your Message Boards link.
Click the "My Campaigns" tab.
Find the Flaxseed threads.
Click this symbol on those threads ---> ∅
Voilà!
Hmm

![]() |

Do you mean the x next to the new markers? That doesn't prevent the thread from taking up half the screen, i otherwise can't find an ø button.

You actually need to do it on the general play by post campaigns page rather than your own campaigns tab. If you click that link and scroll down to the title for the Flaxseed Lodge gameplay thread, you'll see the little ø icon all the way to the right side of the screen. Click on that and it will disappear from your campaigns tab.

No, there's an O with a line through it (like a theta), to the right of the last post date/time. If you click that, the thread stops showing at all.

GM Hmm |

How about a way to remove an alias from your display? After a while those old aliases from failed attempts to get into a game get annoying. Or temporary aliases for when you play an iconic.
There is no way to remove them. Do what I do, and recycle them.
Just make sure that you use names that you can reuse!
Hmm

![]() |

That'll ignore the thread completely though. I'm not sure I never want to post here again nor being able to read. If the GM could just mark me as inactive it would be a lot better.

That is true, but marking the thread as hidden is something you can do to make the change you want. If you want to see the campaign again, you can always go back to the thread I linked above, click on "Show ø" next to the search box, then find the thread and unhide it.

Hey guys. So, a lot of you have probably noticed my absence in my games for the last month or so. I wanted to go ahead and apologize to all of my players that I was GM'ing for and all of my GM's that I just disappeared on.
My diabetes took a really vicious turn a while back, and I ended up in a really, really bad case of diabetic ketoacidosis, and have been in the hospital ICU for pretty much the majority of my absence. I was unconscious/in a fugue state pretty much the entire time. I've sent messages to all my games that are still active to let them know that I didn't intentionally abandon them or take off with no warning. I was fine in the morning and then that evening I was being carried out of my bathroom on a stretcher and put into an ambulance. I'm going to try to slowly get back into PFS, I have a lot to do, such as find a new job and place to live, but hopefully I can get back into GM'ing multiple games and having fun with everyone.
Again, I sincerely apologize for everything. I hate being that guy who just disappears when involved in a group project.
