That said, her base form would be this, just aid a pair of gold dragon wings

I believe his CR costs are part of the eldritch template, which adjust the CR differently depending on what powers you choose.

This. Basically you round up, so its still 1 class level.

Gonna hold on doing too much more till we get some GM responses.

Hoping he hasn't been scared away.

Silver Crusade

Well. He's probably looking at 100+ new posts and going. "By jove... What have I done"

What's everyone's AC look like? Mine's sitting at 55 right now (with buffs, but they're all hour/level or at-will so they're going to be up all the time) which seems a bit ludicrous. Considering dropping Gifted Blade (and the +9 armor from Inertial Armor that comes with it), and settling at a more reasonable 46 if that's closer to the range everyone's at.

im trying to build someone who is durable, and im looking at a 37-43 (not final) so i think i might be screwed.

and ill be lucky to have *A* save at 25, pre-buffs.

Who's your dude again? The Huge acid dragon thing?

Those size penalties to AC and Dex kinda hurt.

Tenro, you're a Battle Templar: the first maneuver you use in each battle lets you cast a free spell, even if it misses. And if you target yourself, you get +4 Profane to AC for the next 1 minute. Use this with, say, Barkskin, and your AC shoots up to monumental levels for a whole battle with just a move action.

Spiritualist lets you add Wis to all saves for 1 minute, but it's a standard action; but Stalwart + Sixth Sense means you could potentially survive pretty well with lower saves.

I'm right now looking at the Fallen of Community.

Before her fall she governed altruism, cooperation, community and friendship. After the fall she takes it all a step further as she still governs cooperation and community but also sacrifice and loss of individuality(except for her). She'd idealise society as something like a massive insect colony with her as it's queen and as the ruler of the collective Hive Mind.

I'm looking at Mesmerist(Cult Leader) and Vitalist (Life Leech) but haven't figured out the 3rd class yet. Also have no idea for templates as I know I don't want to make her a Worm that Walks.

Oh thanks for the advice and reassurance thunderbeard. I havent played a Warder before so any advice helps, hahaha.

I have a baseline familiarity with the system, as i play a Stalker/Umbral Blade in my IRL game.

You'll definitely want that Feat that lets you force people into your Collective.

You also probably want to hop into the Thrallherd PrC.

I'd consider going with some sort of martial class since you have two casters. Perhaps the Pack Leader Ranger?

Also, I've been thinking. Since almost everything I can do with Sensei is pretty much redundant with what everyone else seems to have (Bardic Performance seems kind of pointless with how buff everyone already is and all the dedicated buffers being proposed on top, and the Ki SLAs seem less good when everyone's already brimming with them), anyone have good suggestions for a third class on top of Stalker and Soulknife? Or Prestige Class to move into on that side? I really only need one level in Monk (and even that's negotiable, since Psychic Warrior or Sacred Fist and such could give me the AC boost as well).

I don't really want to go full on "selfish" character, but Monk isn't providing me with much besides AC, especially since Swift actions are ALREADY at a premium (though a round of buffing with Judgement/Advice/Destruction Aura seems solid).

Shaman, Bloodrager, or Warpriest could all be fun.

Shaman is a cool class, but I don't think any of the Spirits fit Jadgael very well (even Battle is kind of eh). Plus I hate Familiars.

Warpriest is my current front-runner alongside Meditant Psychic Warrior, though both are sort of more "selfish" classes meant for self-buffing.

Bloodrager doesn't do much for me. I attack/damage with Wisdom, and I'm not sure I can use most of my main tricks while Raging.

Speaker of the past is arguably a better archetype for Shaman, and will get rid of the familiar. Battle spirit is great (who could say no to free bane that stacks with bane?)

I like Warpriest, but it does have a lot of self-buffs I suppose.

@Rynjin I was already looking at that feat and the Life Leech archetype actually gives it as a bonus feat.

Thrallherd looks great but also means I have to take at least 1 level of Dread or Psion to qualify as for some reason the Vitalist's Collective does not count as a way to link minds for that PrC.

I also have to figure out where to put the PrC as I don't want to lose Vitalist progression because of the Collective but it does add manifester levels. Using the third slot would leave my fortitude save severely lagging.

As for the martial end, I was actually thinking I might go something Teamwork feat related there, like Vanguard Slayer or somehow twisting Inquistor in there.

You could qualify with just a Feat (Expanded Knowledge to poach one of those powers from another list).

Note what the GM said about Summinors, Gm did not want to deal with a mass of sub PCs in battles, so having a small army following you around my be fall into that camp.

You don't necessarily need a small army following you around into battle. Just like Rednal's character (Sariel, I believe?) who is a Cult Leader, presumably Cuan's character (one based around Community, not war) would have his Thrallherd as more like a village of peons connected mentally and controlled by him. His own "hive".

What Rynjin said yes. I'd normally have one "sub PC" at max, maybe 2 if we are defending our own homes from attack. The rest would be workers and guards who stayed back and if it comes to an attack on my home I'd gladly relinquish direct control of those to the GM.

My character has levels in Thrallherd. I plan on having my Thrall accompany me on adventures, and the Believers will be background accessories. We haven't heard additional details regarding the campaign setting, so depending on what kind of organization-building we are doing, my Believers may be chattel slaves at a palace, or mortal agents on various prime material worlds working towards establishing my cult.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Balthamel and the Believers is a good band name.

I've got three ways of commanding undead/actual people (graveknight's undead mastery, at-will Animate Dead, and War's Dominate Person greatsword, so I'll have plenty of minions for slaughter in my great wars.

Of course, Fallen Herald knows about all these shenanigans, so I'm not trying to pull anything on him.
Should be fun commanding my legions of undead, especially with my desecrate aura.

Rynjin wrote:

Fiendish cult by day, jazz ensemble by night. :)

Well, my AC currently sits at 58...though with the monks robe, that will be 59, and if I re-work my template distribution to get 2 more levels in one class, I'll end up with 65 AC. Since Int+Cha+Wis will all be 2 higher, probably 68.

The problem is that most of that is "automatic", I could only drop Dex, or get rid of Unearthly Grace. But I consider that a "work-in-progress". I expect those picked will get a little while to do final adjustments, I would make sure that my AC is in-line with everybody elses in my group.

Saves are 25/20/24, but that does not include a Bonus from a Cloak of Resistance...once again, fine adjustments afterwards, I can leave them or push them up to 30/25/29.

Also, I end up with (Vile) Leadership from Suzerain, but I see that more as a "tactical group"-leadership, explaining the boni he grants to allies nearby.

What exactly are you planning on doing with 68 AC? It just means people will attack you by other means... though it might also meant that you're devoting a lot of gold and levels to defenses that could be spent on more useful things.

I'll actually skip Thrallherd as the main ability of the PrC completely messes up the Cult Master archetype's abilities gained from 7th level onward.

It also makes my search for something to fill the 3rd slot quite a bit easier as I can get full progression on fort saves there as well. Now to find something suitable with at least 3/4 BAB, good Fort save and if it's a caster it's Wis or Cha based. Oh, and it must fit the Community idea, leading a hivemind. Think a bit like Zerg Broodmother for those who played Starcraft.

Er, no spent nothing on it. It's listed up in the profile.

4 Dex as base, 7 natural+4 profane from templates, +1 dodge from dodge feat, wis+monk bonus from monk(which i need for flurry), which means no armor and lends itself to kensai(which gets uncanny defense), and I picked up Unearthly Grace for the bonus to saves and the flavor, which as a side effect puts cha to AC.
The only conscious decision for AC is Spirit Shield as revelation for Shaman, and thats mostly because it will give rays a 50% miss chance...

It really is mostly accidentaly.

Rynjin wrote:

Nah that's me. I'm at 45 AC, but yeah having 10 reflex is subpar, haha.

I dropped mind-control immunity so I could have more interesting powers, and now I have like 8-12 fiendish points free. Wish I knew which page everyone was listing all the things they bought and the prices.

Cloak of Resistances ain't cheap, and Uncanny Dodge is less useful than you think for a ghost (since incorporeal makes you immune to sneak attacks)

Thats why I say I'm holding off on the Cloak of Resistance if it feels my Saves are fine.

Uncanny Dodge is a side effect from Alacritous, not something I was actively aiming for.
Also, I'm neither a Ghost nor incorporeal, in fact, right now I don't even have a way to become incorporeal.

I looked up the Dual Mind because it's super relevant to my character (two heads, formed from two angels), but it turns out that I already have an identical ability from elsewhere, haha. If only they could stack to be roll 4 times and take the better.

Edit:
Also that's a lot of things. I asked about like 6 things, and ended up taking 5 of them

Alright, I guess I've been misreading some things. Never mind.

Given that he's mentioned the PFSRD, I would expect that links would be more convenient than references to ... um ... those things with paper in them that they used to use back in olden times.

I sent the GM links no worries.

Geez, I just calculated my character's full attack action.
10 total attacks with a reach weapon, natural attacks, and one free weapon from a template. Maybe my domain before falling was being a living blender.

I'm guessing you have Multiattack?
Just remember you can't use a weapon and a natural weapon in the same "hand" in a dull attack. (claw holding longsword, choose either).

Yep, I've taken that into account. I have 4 claws, but two of them are busy holding my hammer.
I also get a free scimitar attack because of my diamond template - it just says it grows from my body and can't be disarmed or sundered, but never says whether is actually has to be wielded. I 'll probably lose another one of my claws, bringing the attacks down to 9, and I'm fine with that.

*Rubs chin* I should probably look at getting some castable AC bonuses... I'm definitely a bit lower than everyone else, but I think I can get around that.

Awesome!

@Rednal- none of the normal spells, besides Haste, will help my AC. My armor bonus is higher than 4, as is my shield bonus. I have a deflection bonus, so no shield of faith. Got natural, and natural enhancement, so no Barkskin. Guess that leaves more for offensive spells!

I think I have practically everything but an actual armor bonus - and since my Mythic choice is probably gonna be dual-path'd Champion/Hierophant, I can't take up Enduring Armor. XD Given that, some castable things, or Bracers of Armor, seem like a non-terrible investment of my resources.

'Course, I'm not trying to get my AC into the stratosphere or anything - just have it fairly in line with everyone else (goal: 40ish) while Sariel is busy doing what she does. XD

Edit: Though I should probably review the Mythic Class Abilities for the Oracle. Hmm...

I'd definitely be going Guardian. Maybe a small dual path dip just to get the DR bypassing attacks of Champion.

Edit
I still want to find some way to be more useful with utility. I have all the spellcasting of Cleric and Inquisitor, but I'm still worried I won't be able to contribute enough out of combat.

Azrielan will either be full Champion, or Champion/Archmage.
Some of those Archmage abilities are pretty nice. Get me another specialized school's powers? Alright!
I wanted Foresight anyway.

All I'm hoping is that we don't scare the GM off.

There have been too many ambitious games that died because the work was too much for the GM.

That said I'm getting the last minute detail done on Arkothus while await the response and I'm going to start another character.

Reason being is I am planning on sticking with Ultron Dragon I know some people who'd love to play but are probably intimidated by the creation rules. So I'm making a creature of pure flame I'm tentatively calling The Herald of Pain. A former angel who took to the whole punishing sinners thing too far.

Once he's done he's up for offer to whoever wants him.

Tamlakos wrote:

This is a non-problem.

@Arkothus It's true, it's a danger. Perhaps just choosing based on concept earlier in recruitment, and then leaving the mechanics for after the tables are chosen. Then he doesn't need to get swamped with 20+ people messaging him to ask questions about specific characters that might not even get in.

So try to limit the amount of questions you ask people, for the sake of the DM's survival, haha. The lists people are making with links to characters are really helpful and time saving I'm sure.

Maybe we could start storing questions in a google doc instead of all across the thread? That way, people can just add them to one location and the DM isn't forced to read through every page. He can just do it when its convenient and he wants to see people's ideas.

You and your Google Docs xD

I happen to like the google doc idea.

They're just so useful

Questions for the DM

We can also put frequently asked questions there, so people can check the list before they ask again. Feel free to edit.
