The Avalon Chronicles

Game Master lynora

This is a high level rules light game set in a school for magical kids, kinda a mash-up of Soul Eater, Harry Potter, and X-Men. :)

Only part of the options.

2 in preticualar. There are 9 to be chosen.

And only half your geaslt.

Nomad is a type of psion, btw tybs.

Alright thanks for the heads up!
I'll have to give the warlock class a lookthrough.
I'll check over tybalts page/posts to get a feel for him :) I do want to be my own unique snowflake ;)
I'll get a character statted up here, I just wanted to see how the general idea would be taken.
I'm ok with plenty of porters, I don't think they will be quite the same as the idea I have but we will see.

Shadow Lodge

Another option is shadow dancer, or monk, or psionic uncarnate, orsome combination of all of these, but we already have Tybs...
Maybe a force (energy type) focus character, I don't think we have one yet, I could give some build help
Or some kind of bomb specialist,

We do. Can't tell you who.

Suggest you have a personality -- cause, frankly, stats don't mean much here.

Without a personality, you're just a sheet for rolls, Gobo. :)

Good luck.

Ha ya he will have a personality for sure! I've already got a chunk of his background planned up here in me head! It will be quite a lot different than tybs but he might hit it off with tybs. Reading tybs background he is easy going and friendly. (Glass is half full and ready for a refill? HA! Glass is down in one gulp and always ready for a refill :D) my guy can (should be able to) detect teleportation at will so he should meet up with tybs naturally enough.

@Lord foul ll. I figure I'll stick with my idea thanks :) I'm not all that keen on building an elementalist/keniticist.

Wish character was female. . . . Have too many male friends. . . If the detect is constant he is gonna wanna find a way to turn it off. . . . Tybs teleports more than he walks. . . .
And just the background on his page doesn't give a real accurate representation of him. He has changed and developed a lot in the last couple months. (Four days)
Nice and friendly was just a starting point.
Also another couple heads ups
1we already have like four super friendly minotaurs so that could maybe do with a change. (Still up to you. Tryin to help keep him/her original. :). )
2 if you're looking for combat this isn't your place. Its mostly role play here. ;)
Hope that helps. ^_^

We do have a minotaur who was raised on sunshine and flowers... (elves)

Only one? Dennis's mom is a dryad. Although he's technically not a student anymore. :)

Anyways, just a reminder that all new characters have to be officially approved before appearing in play. There's usually some back and forth on background first to make sure things fit into the setting.

och. 4 minotaurs already? och. Well this one was going to be a bit more sullen then friendly per se, but Ill have to think about that... I did have the idea of a troll that read his own entrails but... Ya figured that one best left alone...
I realize that this place is not combat orientated, but thats just an integral way for me to construct characters. First the idea, next the basic mechanics, then the flavour/backstory behind the mechanics and then I get down to crunch. I imagine ill skip the last part for this particular setting ;)

As for turning off the detection, it more just allows him to know the general direction of teleporting, but that wont matter much anyways, I just re-looked it up and its duration is concentration...

Edit: I mean I did figure out a way to headbutt somebody in the future... I could literally charge into the future and headbutt them at the same time :D
He could also take a dozen people half a day into the future for some surprise antics... How to actually role play that would be a chalenge...

Most of the not completely uberpowerful stuff on the d and d wiki is usable too. If you want a teleport maybe I could suggest and anthropomorphic Blink Dog. I think the stuff they have is kept in that process. Then you could do all the class stuff on its own. I'll look that up. ^_^

Anthropomorph blink dog! Ha! I love it! Ill have to look it up as well XD

TECHNICALLY speaking it does not, anthropomorph animal only targets animals and the blink dog is a magical beast, but that should be easily hand waved away for this XD
Let me see what I can come up with (and I gotta figure out what the visual of that would look like... the mental image is a big part of it)

Best part, its a quickened DD!

I did. it works. Self dimension door at will and blink constant. Then you can have whatever you want for the class levels and we can be more different. ^_^

I just found an avatar of a poodle.
I just gotta make a blink dog poodle.....
Something... Sooo... Wrong... Must.... Killl.... Yappy..... THING!!!

Have and edolon that carries you around in a purse. XD

Playing as a poodle with a bag lady eidolon.... Not... Helping...
Destructive urge rising... Must re-assert manlyhood....

Name him Anubis, and he uses a kopesh.

BLINK DOG PC, EPIC!!

Ya I think so as well! Ima try and figure out what I can do with him, and no... I am NOT going as a poodle.... I just couldnt stand it....

yay a new friend for Sun and Sara !!!!

You think its gonna have permanent anthro or no? Both have good rp. :)
Glad you all like the idea. ^_^

Shadow Lodge

Use the stats for a blink dog. Say it's humanoid. Done.

Nice and simple. :)

Well our stats are made up anyways so. . . . Also he gets two free languages. Common and sylvan. :D

Shadow Lodge

And now for his class, do you have any ideas or do you want us to throw some at you, I'd be fine with throwing a few.

make him a bodyguard type character... Fighter 6-16/cleric(anubis or somesuch)6-16
with prestige classes to sprinkle

uses spear/khopesh

I had a thought on the humanoid vs dog decision.
¿Por que los dos?
Lycan+blink dog= human dog and hybrid. ^_^

So yeah, after hearing about this thing on and off for a year or two finally decided to give it a look-see.

Going for a teacher character, since it was recommended for players with less reliable free time. Will have a more detailed post up later when I'm on my lunch break.

Likewise on interest and teacher character. =) Still working out a concept.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I'm kind of tempted to return to a rules-light scenario myself. Anyone besides Lynora here from the ancient OTD days? I see DB3, whassup bud?

If either of you are looking for inspiration, we could use an official archery or first aid teacher. Both have kinda been glossed over since I've been here. :)

Shadow Lodge

Or perhapse a magical engineering, divination or psycology professer

Knew there were more teacher concepts that I had forgotten about in need of people to fill them...though we can certainly continue to gloss over them if we need to. :)

Edit: This is the list I was brainstorming elsewhere.

Need teachers for light blades, heavy blades, unarmed combat, possibly room for another music and/or dance teacher, could definitely use a divine magic teacher. Have about every other kind of magic including nature, but clerics get hosed a bit. Don't have a specific art teacher so that's open.

You're definitely welcome here. :)

KC used to post in this game, but he's kinda wandered off now. I think it's just me and DB3 left from the old OTD days now.

Picking a field of study/teaching could certainly help me pick my character's second class. Right now I only know one side of her gestalt is Binder. There's a variety of options that could fit on the other, theoretically. Would just need to narrow them down. Full backstory might help with suggestions.

You'd mentioned dueling in the other thread. I was going for bard|fighter, so I could pick up either dueling or one of the more knowledge-based openings.

Careful with the Binder... we already have one and we don't like to step on each other's toes.

Could teach art music or dance as well. Those all do exist. :)

Edited my post upthread to include the post from Fawtl where I was trying to think of all the teacher posts that could be filled.

Yeah, Ly mentioned it in the other thread. We nearly had two coming it at once until Scint offered to change concepts.

Who's the other? If his/her concept is too close to Karish's I might as well scrap that idea right now and come up with something different.

maybe astronomy / Astrology?

There's an idea... maybe Dark Tapestry Oracle for the other side, to fit?

I think a teacher would suit my hectic posting schedule as well. Lynora, you said you needed a fencing teacher? I could run with the concept

If Patrick's got fencing, I'll retool into divination, I suppose.

Scintillae wrote:

I actually need two blades teachers if that helps. One for light blades and one for heavy blades (think two-handed swords, axes, polearms, etc)

Going from bard, I'd have to dibs light blades then.

Blessed Board Gods, welcome! ^_^

Oh good someone who actually knows how to use a light blade. Looks like I'll be shifting to subing for archery, now. Don't worry they have all ready read Chapters 1-6 of "Pointy Things and How to Use Them".

all new teachers?

any new students?

need some band member applicants...

Dark Archive

I use light blades, six daggers made of force in fact, though teaching such things is beneath me when I can spread my art instead.

Hey guys:

Since it seems like everyone is going with teachers, I just want to clear something up on this: Teachers - since they are unbound in their power level (comparitively), can trivialize many of the problems/situations the students face.

I think it's been pretty clear that, up until now, the students are the "heroes" of this story, whereas the teachers are oversight. Much like Harry Potter. The teachers only step in when s#*& gets real, as it were. Obviously teachers are still characters with their own motivations/etc, but my main point is this: teachers are not here to be the heroes. They are simply too badass for that. Most teacher interactions are social events - which is fine of course, most of the game is like that already.

I just wanted to warn the new people of the "dangers" of being a teacher.
