The Avalon Chronicles

Game Master lynora

This is a high level rules light game set in a school for magical kids, kinda a mash-up of Soul Eater, Harry Potter, and X-Men. :)

Planning, or rules for that matter, are not my forte ;)

Just this last sunday, I slapped together a half-dragon mystic theurge as the final boss of a somewhat strange dungeon (the wizard's experiments had shattered planar boundries in a very bad way, the party ended up fighting Aeons and Inevitables to get to him.

And then I realized that they were sent there by an evil dragon to recover a spellbook... boom. Suddenly the final boss became the evil dragon's son. Bwahaha. Now the party wants double pay - one for assassinating, one for recovery.

Making things up or changing plans at the last second is pretty much the summation of 80% of my Kingmaker game.

Improv GMing. The reason I love the cortex system.

All right, Ly, here's what I've got.

Spoiler:
Clara Tremblay is a fiction.

She'd tell you the facts, but she can't quite sort it out. Side effect of changing jobs like socks and names to match. After a time, even you start to believe the tales you spin. But it's a necessity. Work an unsavory job, learn some unsavory secrets, and people want you dead and quiet.

The tale changes with every telling, but the consistent bits speak of Lemnos, bodyguarding, and a fair bit of illegal trade. She's spoken of family connections without dropping names. Whatever the truth, she's seen her share of the world and knows how to adapt to a new place. She's a fair hand with a sword and has no problem using alternatives to fair play.

Taking a job as an instructor seems a nice, safe way to earn a living, and maybe she'll get a student or two that isn't completely hopeless.

Clara, if that's a multiple choice background, you juat picked E) All of the above....I like it. :)

Anyhow, you're cleared to enter the game and Sadie (the fencing team captain who's been forced to sub for the missing teacher) will be very happy to relinquish her new responsibilities. :)

Hey lyn, I've got a tech character idea
Class level tinkerer 11/generator 5/invincible iron man 16

for backstory I'm thinking his dad was a tinker 20 artificer 5 alchemist 5 iron man 20 with the projenetor line of succession, the alpha was known as "ultron"... I'm just going to leave that part at that
Anyway seeing his father's "mistakes" he vows to never make a machine better than himself, and to that end he puts his best inventions toward himself, but he nonetheless can't resist building, innovating and improving his designs
When he made the swarm, most of it was absorbed into his body, where a heretofore unknown genetic quirk from his father's side, (think hulk backstory) and the presence of a few sealed, inert samples from the machine plague, which were broken when the swarm ate the majority of his lab the resulting combination allowed him to survive and caused unforseen consequences.

I'm having the player who plays tybalt play the alpha and have him pilot the 2nd suit, and not have the third,
Tybalt (we are thinking of either Hermes or Atlas for his designation) will be mostly stealth based, give him a few levels of ninja, *shrug*

I will have a few lightning based powers, and be made of "Uru"(basically mithral with 20 hardness, immunity to electricity damage bestowing resist electricity ~5 and the "conductive" spelltouched feat)

The generator class can be found http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=211379
Iron man here http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=258113
Tinker here http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/3rd-party-classes/interjection-games/tinker

Great... Another tinker....
(With a planned spell touched feat, i might add.)
I just started with that idea, and I even posted it.

this is really different. Most of tinker is just getting the hive and the automaton.

Shadow Lodge

I know mine is quite different
You dibbed tinkerer/artificer, you said in person that two tinkerers wouldn't be a problem, im only that high of a tinkerer because that's when I get the swarm.
The character I'm going for is ideologically different to what you were going for as well, quality over quantity
I'm not even planning on using the mooks just the swarm
And the alpha,
What's wrong with spelltouched

He was gonna use that for a different character. That one specifically.

Shadow Lodge

Ok? Grim also has that feat,
It's a decent feat,

Shadow Lodge

I too have thought up a type of tech character. Weird.

I said two tinkers would probably be a problem. Also, why do you like making characters from other things so much here?

Tinker is an incredible and well thought out class. Iv'e made an interesting build an character around it, and the character progression of a tinker is amazing, allowing for a great personality and design. I shouldn't have told you about it.
"Quality over quantity" was EXATLY what i was doing. Listen for once, Dave.

There's plenty of room for more than one tech character. That said, Lord Foul, after reading the description of your idea and reading the classes, I'd recommend dropping tinker and going with straight iron man/generator. That this change solves the conflict between you and icehawk is a nice added benefit. :)

Shadow Lodge

The generator? Like the one url in Belyu's profile? I like that one, but certainly an off-planet character. Aananda's nanites wouldn't be that... unstable, let's say.'

Another tech type for Mel?

I hope we can all get along....

Shadow Lodge

Awwe, the only reason I wanted tinkerer is for the swarm and for the alpha, is there any way I can get those two parts and I'll drop the rest. The alpha and the swarm are both important to the design. Not absolutely vital but important

Shadow Lodge

Ok me and Icehawk have talked a bit in person, Tybs has spoken to me over the phone, and I'm going strait generator/ironman.
Might even start at a lower level, I'll think about it
Backstory edit: it was not his swarm that fused with him, but his father's the rest of the backstory doesn't need much change
The second character to pilot the stelth suit (code named the steal shadow)
He will be a cohort, thinking stats as a gear guardian with a couple of the mods from the tinkerer class, the mechanical ninja and kamikaze (i dont plan to use the second one, but the character would ensure he had a "failsafe") mods for example

He will start with only two suits, at level 16 he is allowed 4, I am not going to use the fourth, 3 total suits will be made, to include the one asereth_star-runner's character is going to be using (and he might have levels of ironman himself,)
The third will be his "hulkbuster" bigger size slower clunkier flight, no unibeam weaker repulsers, much more explosives, he has yet to build said suit, it will be done in character, and will probably be changed more or less as influenced by his room mate and various other events.

Great, I'm glad to see you guys worked that out. Do me a favor and make sure to include links to your classes in your character profile when you make it for easy reference. And other than that, you're all good. :)

Shadow Lodge

Cool, im thinking of starting him at lvl 11 or 12 one more thing
The generator ability "tech enhancement" gives a +4 (by 16th level, +3 at 12) enchantment bonus to my weapons, and the iron man (also +4 by 16 +3 at 12) armor enchantment also applys to my weapons (not the weapons I pick up, just weapons that are part of me or the armor) can i please have that many pluses of special abilities?
In exchange for this and a few extra mod points, I plan to nerf the repulsor blades (they do damage equal to my repulsers which is 8d6 (6d6 at 12), +str +enchantment bonus, Crits and applys for feats as a longsword, oh and I have two of them and they can do damage as a longsword or they can do electricity or cold damage) and instead have it do damage as a large long sword,
Before I get the details up I'm going to need to either get on an actual computer or meet up with Icehawk and tybalt, preferably both
I'm figuring on him coming around, hearing about the factory as opposed to the school, and once he is at the school, have him learn more about magic and how to integrate magic and technology better.
One thing I haven't decided is race

Catfolk!
:P

Shadow Lodge

No, just wouldn't fit.

OREAD

Shadow Lodge

Android?

Shadow Lodge

Oread maybe, android no, I want him fleshy, if I wanted him to be mechanical I'd go warforged.
But thanks for the suggestions.

Hello, I am MonkeyGod's brother, and am really interested in applying to the school :D. I'm thinking about playing a psion of diminutive stature. I would love to talk to you more about the concept, but can not do so here, as some of it is "classified". I'll PM with the details, if approved. cool. (coolcoolcool)

Hello and welcome. :)

I'm sure MG has explained how things work here. As soon as you PM me your concept I'll look it over and suggest any changes that need to be made and we'll keep that up until it's ready to enter the game.

why does everyone suddenly like "diminutive stature?"

Free AC.

Shadow Lodge

Cool concept? My halfling paladin is well remembered by one of my gaming groups.

Its definitely a cool concept, and my bro seems rather excited with it.

I think part of the reason he went "little person", and provided he stick with that, is due to sheer amusement factor. I'll admit I giggled a bit when he told me why he wanted to be small.

Shadow Lodge

Like my Halfling Monk of the Empty Hand, who I planned to pick up things like unconscious people and attacking with them?

that reminds me of my old farmboy fighter. He had exotic weapon person. Instead of pinning an opponet he would pick them up and just them as a club. He was dumb as a box of rocks through. Noteable item he had was his black gopher armor. He also had a hireling, a barmaid that kept track of his gold. For some reason he never had a lot of gold.

Ok-
Quick question.
Normally, a alpha cannot hold magic items for extended periods of time.
For my artificer/tinker may i Integrate my artificer tech (which is technically magical) into my alpha so he can use it? (As if he was an artificer, so a normal number of times per day.)

Lynora, I PMd you the concept and a bit of backstory, hope you like it

Shadow Lodge

I've decided on a race, I'm going half forged, human, and I'm giving him the stonecunning ratial trait

Is it bad that my first thought here went to Teen Titans? Yeah, it probably is, but hey, Cyborg is cool....and we did already have beastboy even if he didn't last long. ;P

Hey Lyn, did you get and respond to my brother's PM yet?

Monkeygod wrote:

Heh. Yep, just sent the reply like ten seconds ago. With apologies for delay due to side effects from new medication. :)

Its cool, he already knows you have a con score of about 6. LOL

Monkeygod wrote:

Hah. You are giving me far too much credit...my con score is 3...cause that's the minimum I can have and still be moderately functional. :P

Sweet, I always liked Cyborg. :)

And yeah, that was a rough time for Ephebe, but it all worked out in the end in an excellent example of using the unexpected to add to the drama and build a better story. But at the time I was totally scrambling to try and figure out what to do.

great another one for melody...

Dark Archive

Ok I have made an alias for the tech character, not done yet, obviously. I'm concidering the name Arthur Gilgamesh Barren, any thoughts?
He has a degree of psionic potential, but hasn't realized it yet deals mostly with machines, next level he gets the "extremeis" ability alowing him to communicate with machines with his mind
I also plan to roll on the Athenian wild tallent table found here http://paizo.com/threads/rzs2pk8f?Dark-Sun-for-Pathfinder
I've found that while posting on my iPod is fine making an alias to the degree I prefer to do is frustrating
