On her way to the cafeteria walks a somewhat familiar firebird snacking on a platter much too large for a single person.... wasn't that the platter he brought to her?

He doesn't seem to have noticed her quite yet.

Asha panics and quickly backs into a corner, doing a sort of ninja-style climb up the wall and wedging herself against the ceiling. She was so not prepared to deal with this guy again. Not just yet. Talking to Fei had helped, but still...

"You know," Ginni said calmly, continuing to eat her breakfast, "you could really use some kind of signal, I mean besides the eye color, to make sure people know who they're talking to. Also, names. Well...he kinda teaches me about....ahh...Life I guess.

you see I was raised in a remote monastery, not much contact with others. except for the elder masters, they would meet regularly with the other bending communities. You see we are all air benders.

after a pause, well actually I am an air and water bender, but I will also learn fire like a firebird.

"Well, I can't help you with that one. I am one of the strange firebirds that have no talent for it at all. The black shame and disappointment of it, at least as far as my parents were concerned." Cindra's voice holds none of the bitterness once might expect. In fact, she seems fairly amused by it.
Lang listens then has a smile of a great idea. Well I don't have any talent for it either, well at least not yet. maybe we can learn it together. he suggests, with a bit of excitement to have someone to learn with.

"At least you have a power, Cindra," Phaedra said with a grimace. "It may not be one they like, but it's something. The wait and see, you'll have your powers soon pep talk gets sadder every year. It's mostly just pitying looks now." She pulled her salamander off of her plate before it attacked the food Cindra gave her too. "Solus would be more help with learning fire bending that Cindra would. He's pretty good at it. He's Cindra's older brother."

Andromeda quickly changed her clothes, opting for her cargo pants of magical pockets, a pink crop top, and a jeans jacket that used to belong to Jiminy. Also with magical pockets. These ones big enough to fit her Casters. She unpinned her bun, letting her hair settle into its usual messy ponytail. A glance in the mirror and she sighed. It wasn't like she'd intended to dress so boyish. it just sort of seemed to happen. It was either tutus or this. No in between. Definitely time for some shopping. She tucked a small bag of gems into one of her many pockets and headed back to the hallway outside the cafeteria looking for Jasper. She felt kind of excited about actually breaking the rules to go and have some fun.

Cindra shakes her head sadly, "As much as I would love to suddenly develop a knack for it, my family has, um, quite thoroughly tried to develop the skill in me. I am one of the minority of firebirds that have talents that lie in other directions."

She puts her palms together and, drawing them apart, is suddenly holding a delicate glass orb that grows as she draws it larger. At about 4" in diameter, it suddenly fills with a bright, pure light. Cindra jumps in surprise, dropping the orb which shatters on the edge of the table. The entire tabletop is infused with the light, and the broken bits of glass begin to evaporate. Cindra's voice is shaken and confused, "Well. It has never done that before."

1) Sorry, he is on his way there, and spotted her. I should have made that more clear, but I posted at 3:30 in the morning, when I was heading to bed, but wanted to get that post up

2) He isn't talking to you, so I'm not sure what your 'either way Lucas hasn't noticed her, or indicated he has' is supposed to mean.

Not intentionally. He's just very introverted. He has to be pushed to socialize at all, let alone with people outside his family. After he arrived at Avalon, he discovered the library, and hasn't really interacted with anyone since. :P

The firebird encampment was very crowded, and there was a lot of restless murmuring. Sorchan and Fieri basically shoved their way to the center of the proceedings where Aithne and Aine were locked in a cage, but there was no sense of consensus or of who was in charge. It was basically one big argument. The only thing that was unusual was the presence of so many of the Elders, their hoods hiding their faces and making them seem mysterious.

Nala turns around, curious to see who was talking. "Who are you? And please tell me that means that you're here to help with the infirmary. Because contrary to popular belief, I do actually need to sleep sometimes," she said with an eye roll.

"Doctor Mordecai Zeppler, at your service madam," the voice says with only a slightly-flourished bow as her gaze finally finds the unflappable halfling below her normal eye level. "And my team has actually been here for several hours already helping out. I understand that the containment field upgrades they installed while you were catching a catnap are helping out nicely with your planar patient," he continues with a conspiratorial wink as he stands back up and nods towards Phaezeriel's room.

"Now that I've had the pleasure of meeting you in person, it looks to me that you have a clear case of Workaholic Syndrome - late Stage 3 by my calculations. I'm part of a group that meets on alternating Thursdays to deal with our common problem (gods know I have my moments) - I can get you an invite if you'd like. The strudel is to die for." ;)

"Seriously though - you need to recuse yourself from duty for a couple of days and just sleep - you're riding the line and you don't need to be. If you'd prefer a familiar face, you could always call in that guy, Fei, who doesn't need to sleep - he's the one who actually reached out to me to send in the cavalry, so to speak."

"So...any other questions for me before you go on medical leave for the weekend?" :D

"I am very happy to meet you. Before we lost so much of our staff during the attacks, I was in charge of pediatrics, strictly ages 12 and under, with occasional consults in the main area for certain difficult cases. I was not expecting to end up as senior management. But we had to keep the place running, and I do have the background for it, in an awful sort of way. Phaezeriel is much better at it though. He has the temperament for dealing with people. So it's definitely been a blow having him out of commission even for a short time. You and your team are definitely a welcome addition, of however long you can stay. Thank you."

"And the next things I'm going to say are pretty much going to confirm your opinion that I'm working myself to death," she said with a shrug, "but nevertheless, there are a couple of patients that if they come in for any reason, you need to call me no matter what. The more important in terms of potential disasters of the two is Jessa Mar'Neill. She's the victim of some nasty experimentation, and I've been working with her to get things under control. She has a secondary personality that can turn her into a sort of living biological weapon. Well, it could. I think that we're past that part of things, but since all of her treatments are experimental, I'd rather not play games with any of it. That's why you need to call me if she comes in. So I can make sure there are no gaps in the records and none of her treatments contradict what's already been done. The second patient you might be able to deal with without me if you had to, but Dara Jhiwoon has serious trust issues. He's seven and he tends to turtle inside whatever metal he can find, which makes it very hard to do an exam. I've earned his trust over time, so if he comes in and you can't coax him out, call me. Oh, and if Adon Derro comes in again, call Miss Jones, not me. He has something inside his head that is in direct opposition to my nature as a winter fey. It took them four hours to de-ice the exam room after his last appointment. Sorry I don't have all of that in the system yet. There hasn't really been time to update the paperwork."
"Oh, and watch out for Cheryl. She's a good nurse, but she's a hugger."

Ardiente laughs at all of Chara's outrageous suggestions, but adds them in without question. "You have a wonderful imagination little lady! You could be quite the storyteller one day" He says with a big grin.

At the mention of Ginny, he takes a second look at the now full-on succubus at the table.
"Ginny? Wow, you look badass!" he says before taking a seat, with a nod in Ace's direction.
"Yeah, I know. 'Mithros the jerk'. I'll be living that one down for a while, I suppose." he look at Jessa, again smiling a bit.
"A friend of Ginny's and I have the worst past, and it's one hundred percent my fault. I treated her...well I guess you could say I did my best to remind her that she was an outcast, and teased her mercilessly. A lot of crap has gone on that kind of wakes you up to how petty and stupid that kind of behavior is, especially when you're supposed to be among the ones your people look to for guidance..."
He grimaces a bit...and looks sheepishly at Jessa.
"Probably not the best way to open a conversation with a gal, is it?"

Jessa smiles at Mithros, her eyes fading from purple to blue, "Of course I am okay. Why wouldn't I be?"

She looks between Ace and Ginni and Mithros, listening, "I think it is not a terrible thing to admit one's mistakes. Perhaps it shows that you can do so and perhaps learn from them."

Has a look of relief on his face. "I'm glad you feel that way."

"So Ginny said your name twice...was that in reference to the other...you? You on good terms with her now?"

"Hiya Mithros, yes, my girlfriend is a badass, and yes, I too have heard the stories of 'Mithros, the super duper Jerkasaurs.' However, if Rae is willing to forgive you, that's good enough for me, assuming it's also good enough for Ginni"

::"Should we be worried about Jessa? You're kinda an expert here, so whatever you say goes"::

"Yeah, thanks for the compliment. I'm still getting used to the new form myself," she said with a smile. "And I'm all for new starts and second chances and learning from past mistakes."

"And the names was because her eyes keep changing color. That seems to be the sign of the personality switch, and I was trying to be respectful of the fact that there are two of her present. No sense antagonizing either side by not acknowledging their existence."

Ace:
::Well, without actually getting in her head, there's only so much I can guess, but I would say that a little worry is warranted. But she also said that Nala was working with her, and she's very nearly as good at the mental stuff as Miss Jones, probably on par with Phaezeriel, but they have different focuses and methods. So that's at least a little bit reassuring. She's not out here without supervision or anything.::

Silinrul fakes being crushed "Ooof! Easy there Asha, I'm delicate" He jokes, chuckling as he hugs her back. "I don't really have any place else to go, thanks to my fancy bug wings. Which, you're squishing. Plus, my sister is here, and we just reunited. Also, I met and became friends with this waterbender Morrivan last night, and she wants to create some sort of sports club, and I promised to help her." This is the most Asha has ever heard Sil speak at once, but he clearly had a lot to say.

He glances towards Lucas "He seems nice enough, but I've learned not to judge a book by it's cover. Why are you trying to avoid him?"

"Heh, Jerkasaurs. My legend grows!" he says with a laugh.
"Thanks, Ginni. After we rescued Rae from her grandparents yesterday, I'd say she could use all the support she can get. There's going to be some kind of trial, but I hope her father throws the book at them."
He turns to Jessa "Some of the elders of my people saw other firebirds as their things to manipulate as they see fit, and bound them into mindless servitude with an arcane ritual to have a force of unquestioning soldiers. They almost did the same thing to their own granddaughter. We have a long way to go, it seems, letting go of the past. I hope we can step up and be part of Agartha's solution to the Empire as a people united, rather than trying to hold on to past 'glory'."

"I wouldn't say 'on good terms with'. We have an understanding, and she only tries to take over sometimes, now. But she tries a lot when I am trying to sleep, and I spend a lot of the nights getting teleported to the detention room. Its very tiring." She smiles a little apologetically to Ginni, "Sorry if I gave the wrong impression, the violet eyes are hers, but they show up before she tries to take over. It just means she is paying attention to what it going on around us. The change if she takes the wheel, as it were, is rather obvious."

She expression turns serious and she looks around at the three of them intently for a few moments as the violet swirls back out of her eyes leaving them a brilliant blue. After a short silence, her voice is serious, "Thank you. All of you. Thank you for not treating me like a pariah. I may be under treatment and my condition may be controlled for now, but if she... Anyway, thank you."

Jessa laughs softly, "Heh .. Jerkasaurus. Better watch out, Mithros, that might become your nickname..."

Her face drops again as she learns of the dysfunction in the firebird community, "That is how the Empire views every living thing. They turned me into a living weapon after years of experimentation. I am learning some control over it, but there are aspects to it that I will never be able to control. Are the other firebirds, the victims, are they okay?"

"Yeah, that's how it goes with nicknames around here, but you can call me whatever you like, Jessa."

His face saddens a bit and a touch of frustration enters his voice.
"Sadly, no. We haven't found a 100% effective way to reverse the enchantment, and a lot of these soldiers mindlessly fought to the death. I am hopeful though. This place has some of the most gifted and talented magical minds on the planet, so I'm sure we'll figure it out eventually."

"Don't sell yourself short - you've done a helluva job keeping things running here, and that is no small feat. Props for that," Zeppler says with all sincerity, clearly impressed with her work.

"Anywhoo...I'll only be groundside for a little while myself, but these guys should be here with you for the foreseeable future. I've also got a team that's taken over the clinic in Kuros (which is where I should be for most of my 'vacay' here), so nobody has to spread themselves out too thin anymore the next time the crap hits the fan. I've already verified that we've got hardened, encrypted communications working between the two sites, so if you need anything we're just a click away." :)
