The Avalon Chronicles

Game Master lynora

This is a high level rules light game set in a school for magical kids, kinda a mash-up of Soul Eater, Harry Potter, and X-Men. :)

Do,: How good is it with pdfs? Can it run Skype and Chatango.com? I've got people I regularly talk to...

Lyere: I can't post much today, as I'm leaving for my Zombie Apocalypse Survival Team meeting/Rise of the Runelords game I'm GMing in less than 20 minutes(give or take a few for traffic), but I'll go back and look when I can.

Lyn: Funnily enough, Taron or Kam could possibly teach Music now that they are no longer students, though this puts them in danger of being found out by Belyu rather quickly...

Expedition group: I may have to time jump this ahead and skip to when you guys get back, because the template I had on the boss is in a pdf on my non-functioning tablet, and it needs that template to even stand a chance against you guys, as well as another one I made up based off a MtG card.

PDFs are slow. Very slow. :( Skype it has no cam and probably wouldn't be able to use the program. Same with chatango. Thus why I didn't use it for anything but here and the reason I bought 17 inches of fun.

Placing imaginary bets. Jayie's brother is going to win, hands down.

both regenerate, jaiye is protecting something more valuable...

Or in question form....

"Who would you fear more? A 250lb man who knows its wrong but wants to steal from you.
Or a 100lb woman who believes, wrongly but with all her heart that you stole her baby?"

M Extrodinaraly Contrary Meatbag Fourm pyromancer 1

That's not at all why i think jeyie's brother will win. Oh no. There is another reason. But i won't say. Shsh-shsh.
Hee hee.

Yeah, sorry he got caught up in stuff before then. Ah well :)

Also, a nitpick, but they're hyenas :)

In case you missed it Lyn: Ehos' last post was for Aananda.

Thanks. I had missed it. Replied now. :)

And no one thought to use the Sim room to even the playing fields? It's not cheating if you both do it. . . .

Lyn did you get my PM's earlier?

Shadow Lodge

please try Skype and Chatango for me, Dom? When I say I have people I talk to I mean close to everyday, and one who can only chat on Saturday and Sunday...

I generally answer PMs in on fell swoop, more often than not at night. Sometimes they do get lost, but really unless it's been a couple days you can just assume I haven't gotten to it yet. Too much time spent on PMs means that time is being taken away from the game.

Well for one they should be able to fly

Probably should be pretty good at it

M Extrodinaraly Contrary Meatbag Fourm pyromancer 1

I think flight training refers to flying planes and giant robots, foul.

I had Flight Training on Ardi for his bird form. Giant robots are pretty specialized.

A lot of students at the school can fly after all. There definitely could be a Piloting course though.

It was a joke ice, but even if it did referr to that it would still make a great deal of thematic sense to be able to fly under their own power or with the aid of some personal equipment

I just realized that all of my characters other than my teacher character fly, and with a minimum of good maneuverability

Can someone explain how this cinematic fight works?

Like, the J & S one...

J rolls out of reach, swinging at ankles. No indication of contact or not. Yet, clearly, end position is out of reach.

Then S accepts the hits, ignores due to DR, then claws.

Wouldn't they miss due to J's prior setup in post, or how does a PC advance or negate another's act(s)?

What are the basic rules if any? Seems ... Too open to abuse.

Lord Foul II wrote:

Around 7th level, it's assumed non-melee chars typically /will/ have flight. Tactically speaking, keeping things on the ground and off you is pure win.

Probably why we came up with bows and arrows, then guns, honestly.

Shadow Lodge

about ceramic fighting, from what I can tell the most important bit is both people involved trusting each other, and knowing what the other can/will do and ahead of time planning out a general outline of what should be expected to happen then making it look as awesome as possible

re flight: wasn't even counting spells, that has limited useage

Dami: I like to think of the cinematic fights kinda like doing an improv scene or similar. The idea is that both players will work together to make a nice battle scene without getting clogged up in dice-rolling. There are few basic rules I personally like to follow:

-No/Little Blocking: In improv, 'blocking' is basically saying no. It's considered bad form to deny someone else's creativity, especially repeatedly. Basically, if you do it more than once, you are damaging the scene.

-Tell a Story: The scene ought to have a purpose beyond a mere duel. It should serve to illustrate /something/ about the characters present.

-Know the characters: Have a basic idea of what both you and your opponent can do before you begin, so that arguments over capabilities don't arise.

-Forget about stats!: You know your character's abilities, but nitpicking and blocking creatvity for stats reasons means that you shouldn't be fighting cinematically. If you want to use stats, don't fight cinematically.

This is only true when you don't have a specialist of blocking....

This is proven when I dueled someone with a fork.... she made force shields to prevent lots of attacks from connecting...

M Extrodinaraly Contrary Meatbag Fourm pyromancer 1

I find cenematic fights very hard because they require you to cooperate with the other person, and try and create an outcome without using set facts or at least a general likelyhood- also, i find it hard to trust anyone, so like dami said "too open to abuse."

Powers that are too vague are impossible for non cinematic though

M Extrodinaraly Contrary Meatbag Fourm pyromancer 1

In non-cinematic, adon's antimagic works as mages disjunction on a touch, and high unlowerable sr.

Other then that, adon's powers, as the develop, will be statted out in full.

so, how should I make this teacher?

Shadow Lodge

Male. Vaguely humanoid Ninja 3/Bard 1/Ranger 2/Scholar 1

ok first, which class did you decide on illusion?

Is Mechanics open or not? I'm asking because I love the idea of the first lesson being how to identify and disarm an explosive sheep.

Male Icy Catfolk Image Warlock/Rogue 16

Mechanics is taken. Jim Rivets runs it.
That's great though. XD

New on the market for eat eaters, Sheep Bombs, explosively delicious

Jess Messel wrote:

Come up with a concept. Figure out what class you want to teach, what race, a little basic backstory. Don't bother with stats. Basically the idea is this guy is most likely somewhere in the low to mid twenties level-wise.

And yeah, mechanics is taken.

Female awww, but that would be telling unknown

Today has been...weird. Ah well.

Anyhow, I have a paper due tomorrow so I may not be able to post much if at all before I get that done.

It'd make a good PE teacher
But if you do
Make him like piccolo from DBZ abridged

He's a goblin, so green skin, check. He can wear a turban, so check, and he will be yelling DODGE a lot, so triple check, I can do PE, it won't be dangerous... ... ... often
