If you do that, you'll want Boggle. It's a smarter goblin race.

I don't mean to throw a wrench in the works here Jess, but PE is the biggest time commitment from a teaching standpoint since not only does every student have the class but its also the most common person to referee SIM room duels since the class is held in the SIM rooms. And is mostly supervisory since lessons happen as sims. Melody and Tryko'Sam are there as helpers but that's mostly to take care of the maintenance. Are you sure given all that that this is what you want to play? I'd rather ask now than have you make plans and find out later it doesn't work for you.

In general I prefer to stick to stuff that's on the prd if possible. Using sources outside that generally means a lot of typing since I want to know what they're abilities can do so everything has to be detailed in their profile.
On the other hand, it's a teacher so that stuff is less relevant since you don't need to fully stat out a teacher character. It's assumed that they won't ever actually see combat. I'd still want you to summarize for me what they can be expected to be able to do if I can't just read it for myself.
Also try to stick with pathfinder if you can. Other systems don't always play nice with it and most stuff from other systems can be emulated by some class or class combo in pathfinder.

Shh, Foul. He wants to not further cheapen the warlock class. Let him. ;P

how many levels of each class should I take, I mean Tinker and Warlock are base classes, but Bombardier is a prestige class with lots of great abilities, though the Ground Zero ability is only useful like...once, then its all over
Figure out which of the two base classes does you more good and take max levels in that. Then tack the prestige class onto the other base class in whatever way adds up to max levels for that half of the gestalt.

Nope. Just class stuff. No spells. There's metal bod but that's pretty high level.
| Tybalt Baneko |
does it boost fire resist, as it stands I've got 20, but I don't think that's gonna save me from the equivalent of a small nuke going off in my face
Uh.... no. You're gonna need something with high level spells. Warlock doesn't have much that goes beyond 4-5 level spells.

At a 16th level warlock you could get iron body at will. Dr 15/adamanite half damage from fire
But that won't cover that. O_o
And that's as good as warlock gets.

I actually want to SURVIVE adding double my hit points to an explosion with my already boosted explosive damage
well in addition to the afoentioned feat and the 10 resist from hellfire warlock as one of your possible ability choices you can chose the abjuration school ability "resistance"
Resistance (Ex)You gain resistance 5 to an energy type of your choice, chosen when you prepare spells. This resistance can be changed each day. At 11th level, this resistance increases to 10. At 20th level, this resistance changes to immunity to the chosen energy type.
You could also get a ring of evasion

No it isn't see above

But that also requires a level 20 warlock. Which leaves very little for the other class.

Jess, before I forget, I want to ask, if PE doesn't work out due to time commitment bring too much, is there another class this guy could teach? Like flight training or ranged weapons or something? I would rather have a plan now so its not a big deal later.
As far as surviving his own blasts, it would probably make sense to have a magic item that would grant him a lot of energy resistance for that.
| lynora |
and making things go boom is what I'm building this character for, because if you can dodge a bomb, you can dodge anything.
Lol. Was that an intentional dodgeball reference? And Aananda approves of this idea...something about it being even better than rocks. ^.^

Alternatively he could have 17levels of warlock, 3 lvls of hellfire warlock
And you could have an at will 4 20ft bursts of 11d6+20 damage of any energy type you want that you could then boost by 6d6 at will at the cost of 1 temporary con damage
So sample damage 17d6 + 20 ⇒ (2, 5, 3, 1, 2, 3, 4, 2, 3, 2, 5, 2, 1, 1, 1, 3, 3) + 20 = 63
Better than fireball at will

sorry make that 5 40ft bursts
Also you can bost this further if you want with a sorscerer (Orc or primal elemental (fire i assume) bloodline or better yet cross blood the two of them)
Which would give you 17d6+20+34
17d6 + 54 ⇒ (3, 2, 5, 5, 6, 1, 2, 5, 1, 4, 3, 3, 2, 2, 5, 2, 3) + 54 = 108
That's 5 40ft bursts of over 100 damage
Further how would you like your bombs to heal you?
There is a +1 template "fire infused" that I think would work well for you

[Surfaces from a sea of housecleaning] (^-^)
Hmmm......Throwing a quick PM your way to muse over, Lynora.
[Gets swallowed whole by laundry] (;_;)
I feel for you, man. I'm still trying to figure out how three people generate a minimum of seven loads of laundry every week. :P
