And Mel, I want to see your "revenge"
what do you mean "revenge"?
if you mean against the assassin then you will just have to wait because it might never occur since it will cause some problems with a certain Champion. but then again it might occur.
If you are referring to Kai, Mel has no "revenge" plans at all...
Was referring to me.
and you're bringing in a champion to deal with little old me? LOL!
And Mr. "I'll Help" will be just this side of worthless against me...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't 'financial aid' just a fancy (and somewhat fallacious) term for student loans? Seems a odd requirement. All you have to do here to get a student loan is present proof of registration (usually just a print off from the website or similar). Of course, I don't really know how it works down there - do you guys get loans directly from the school? Up here you either have to go to a bank or the government.
It's complicated. Financial aid is a blanket term that covers grants, scholarships, and loans. You have to apply with the government (FAFSA), then register for classes, then apply through the school based on your credit hours and income which determines how much of what you qualify for. Except there are also some independent scholarships which you might apply for separately. Anyhoo, the government doesn't like giving people money so they make it as hard as possible to get it, and they want to make sure that the money is being used for what it's supposed to be hence the first-day attendance policy. Again though the hoops to jump through may vary by location. I've only ever attended college in Michigan.
Ed, I've already said it before, but I think you're some kind of saint for actually paying for your kids' school. My parents pretty much told me it was my problem so I better work hard to get scholarships.....someday I may actually pay off all the loans I've taken out/will take out to pay for school, but I may in fact be in my nineties by then. >.<

TVA (where my dad works) gave me 1k one time scholarship (I don't actually have this money yet)
and the government is giving me a few thousand a year indefinitely so long as I can keep up a 3.0 and take at least 10 (I think it was 10, may have been 12) credit hours
the school is giving me 10k a year for 2 years (which is then cut in half every year after that) so long as I can keep up a 3.7 and take at least 12 credit hours
my mom is putting roughly every other paycheck she gets into that same account, (from what I overheard)
I used to think "I have 5k, I can buy whatever I want" reality:.... I'm glad I like ramen...
even with that.... I'm going to need a job... and I'm going to need to keep up a 3.7...
at least if I don't want to be drowning in debt...
I don't want to be drowning in debt...
ok, hopefully that's out of my system now

I know that. I wish I had the means to do more for others also. and BTW my kids are going to state schools/ community colleges. -- my charatable side would love to wire money to you to help, but my practical side (AKA wife) won't let me
I don't even want to go into what my oldest son did after his first year. I finally put it in the past and let it go....

lol. No way, I'm all good. Sure I'll be paying into eternity on the stupid loans, but at least the interest rate is low. :)
I just have noticed that a lot of the people who don't have to pay their own way really fail to appreciate the value of their education and/or how awesome their parents are to help them with it.

Yeah, I really don't want to drown in debt either Foul, so I totally get that. Pretty much fulltime work fulltime school for me, though my grades are nice and high now, so hopefully I can get some scholarship money. Twould be nice. :)
Annoying though, that despite the fact that my province is the richest province in the country (Alberta is basically the Texas of Canada), the government keeps cutting education spending, meaning that my tuition, which costed 2500$ a semester for four classes last year now costs 3200$ for four classes >_<.

Geez...I'm going from spending over 3000 a term for the past couple years to next term *gulp* when I go back to the four year state school as opposed to community college having to pay about 10k tuition a term....actually that's what it used to be. I think it went up. :S

I just got a lot of help from the government for my classes. Since my dad is a disabled vet. So if your parent is a vet you may look in to that.

Ardiente |

[joking tone] If Ardy is looking for a sparring partner Lang is trained...but I can understand why he wouldn't spar with him...you know the embarrasment of loosing to a 12 year old kid..[end joking tone]
Joking aside... I think this would be a very boring duel. Both Lang and Ardiente are very defensively oriented. With their high ACs, pretty much only Nat 20s hit on either side, and both characters have Crane style, so they can deflect once a round.
Bascially, it would come down to bending, and they're even there two (at least, until Lang learns Earth and Fire) ;D
Seriously, slowest duel ever.

true... but he still would like to /think/ he could easily win...

Nope.
I've been waiting since last wendsady.
If you're bored you could start us back up.

Tybalt Baneko |

I'll start a basic school rules from what I know to take some of the weight of that off you, Lyn.
Gimme a bit and I'll have something up. :)

Tybalt Baneko |

School Rules
- No Bullying.
- No attacking other students.
- No fights. Arranged duels are acceptable.
- No unsupervised summoning rituals.
- Do not do intentional damage to the school that you don't plan to fix.
- If you have to think if something may or may not be against the rules, it probably is. Play it safe.
- All student and staff will conduct themselves in a proffesional manner. Disruptive behavior will not be tolerated.
- Students and staff should remain proffesional and romantical ambitions between the two are discouraged.
- Major infractions to the rules will incurr a detention, the content of which to be determined by staff.
-----------
- Sim rules.
1 No recreating staff or students.
2 Lethal force must be authorized and observed.
3 Don't do anything you don't want recorded. All Sims are monitored for your safety.
4 You need to leave at some point. Extended use of the Sims is not recommended and can shorten your life expectancy.
--------------
- Have fun!

Tybalt Baneko |

That can be editted of course, added to, moved around, etc.

You and your laws, so cute, so very adorable...
:cackles:
It will be quite enjoyable to see these brought into play ICly, given their vague and clearly left open to gross interpretation.
Heh.
NOTE: Meant as humor.

Don't look at me. Lyn makes the finished product. This is just the chunk of marble for her to work with.
However vague it is when she's done is what you get to abuse. :P

"Ace" |

Question:
Raise Animal Companion says it functions like Raise Dead, does that mean the animal's spirit needs to agree to come back, or is it possible they automatically agree, since after they've passed, they are no longer a special, often smarter being?
Also, the spell doesn't say it only affects your own special animal, so I can in fact cast it on Kitty's animal's companions, correct?

Tybalt Baneko |

I can't think of a reason why it wouldn't work or why the squirellies wouldn't wanna come back. I just wanna know where y'all are gonna get 6-10 thousand gp in diamonds for squirrels.
O_o
(Not that I'm against it at all, just kind weird when you think about it. But, they are companions and this is a kinda important mental health thing for Kitty.)
:)

lynora |

The squirrels weren't actually animal companions...they were awakened animals. Kitty didn't even understand what she did there and misinterpreted that particular magical burst. Haruka was her only current animal companion (there had been a moose too, but it wasn't practical to keep at school....) and she'd been around for like a day. So may or may not come back.

Sara and Bee |

If I was to take Boon Companion, would that boost one of my lower level companion's level by up to four?
Say I was level four and I had four level one companions. I take Boon Companion and now I have one level four companion and three level one companions.
Am I doing this right?
