Man... really? Seven years. Wow. Seems like yesterday it just hit 5. Where does the time go.
Hand of the Apprentice requires Tendal to be within 30 feet of his target, which forced him to move up in front of Braddon and Gristav. I went ahead and moved him because a) he rolled well enough to hit, even through the soft cover, b) his information seems to justify a change in tactics, and c) the reefclaw can't get far enough to attack him this round and make him immediately regret the move. Time for the rest of you to defend your wizard.

You can sheathe staff, draw bow, and Arcane Pool (move, move, swift), without an action left to ready, or you can draw bow, Arcane Pool, and ready (move, swift, standard) and just drop your staff in your square (free). Which would you prefer?

Mark, is there another site I could use to host the maps that would make things visible for you?
Will act for Tendal Monday evening if he hasn't had a chance to check in by then.

I got a new computer!!! Now I just need to find time to use it. :(
At least I was able to post tonight.
Sorry for the slowdown. End of the school year/gearing up for the summer has been getting to me this week. I'll get the gameplay going again this weekend.
I will be out of town for a long weekend starting tomorrow. Combat updates will have to wait until I'm home again Monday evening (Tuesday in Australia). If Tendal hasn't acted by then, I'll act for him when I update.
Quote: Loading a sling is a move action that requires two hands and provokes attacks of opportunity. Snake, it would take all your actions for the round just to draw and load your sling, and you wouldn't be able to fire until next round. Do you still want to do that?

Sure. Might as well have a ranged weapon in my hand anyway. I sure ain't going melee with explosive crabs.

@GoldGoblin: That reefclaw critted the frog. It looks like you forgot to roll for confirmation. Just fyi. Unless I'm just totally misunderstanding something which is highly possible. *shrugs* :P
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17 1d4 ⇒ 2 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
You're right; I missed that. Make that a slightly larger scratch on the frog.
Gristav, picking up an item will provoke an AoO from Reefclaw 5. May I presume you're going Total Defense before picking up your staff?

Sorry, guys; busy 48 hours. Will update tomorrow.

Does Snake need to step back so Braddon and Gristav can step back? Or can he stay where he is? I'm guessing he's probably going to have to step back but I figured I'd ask because it'll make a difference on what to do.
This is per the color spray spell by the way.
It looks like, for Gristav to cast without risking losing the spell, either AO48 or AO49 will have to be clear for him to move into, yes. Whether that's by Snake or Braddon moving, or both.
Unless Gristav has something else in mind.
I have a 14 as the save on your spell, Gristav. I'm not sure I've ever seen a color spray against multiple targets where they've all made their save. Snake may have to rename his mongoose.

I have got to say, this has GOT to be the most pathetic battle I have ever been in.
We can't hit a bunch of stinking BUGS! They're just bugs, man! Bugs. That's it. And I'm starting to feel like this battle may never end. :P

I am kidding, let's play through. Perhaps, my fine fellows, we are merely banking our impatience and good luck, on account we will draw from in future.
Or maybe that's the pain meds talking. On Friday, I broke my arm. Just getting the mind back together now.
Ouch! Sorry to hear that, Gristav. How are you typing?

Well, sometimes with the right hand. Slowly.
Sometimes with both, the orthopedic doc said to get out of the cast the ER doc applied, and see what's what, but no lifting, and avoid pain. BTW, 'Radial Head Fracture', great band name, or what? And cool acronym: FWOOSH, "Fall, weight onto out-stretched hand". It's like every part of my arm broke a bit before passing the shock to the next part.
But mostly, while I can talk a blue streak, I can only actually _write_ slowly, hoping for artfulness. So if the paint takes a while to dry, it's part of the process.
Oh, and I'm being told it was Wednesday, not Friday. No sleep, and pain, and it's kind of blurred together.

What? Dude that blows. Did you get to see the ortho doc in the office?
Casts are great for reducing pain though. Ah well. I ain't your doc. Ortho's know their bones.

Good call on the cantrip. Sorry, I was going to post and then a child I had seen a year ago came into the EC with a fracture that required me to sedate him so ortho could reduce and cast. Ended up taking a ton of time.

I'm much better, thanks. Been back at work for a week, reducing my carrying and cable-running by fractions depending on mood, need, and wisdom. Still some pain, I've never been good at the 'numbers' game for pain, instead bullishly bullying through. This time hit my sleeping, though, so I took the meds.
I owe a post for Bolbo, sorry. OMW.
*bump* for Braddon. I know the boards have been difficult to navigate over the weekend, so he might not have seen the thread.

Back from holidays. Will try and update more consistently but in I am now a new role at work, which is where I do most of my updates.
It may be hard to believe, but work is where I find it easiest to remember all those fun things I'd rather be doing. :-)
Actually on topic, I spent my guidance last attack. Twice even, which shouldn't have happened as it goes away after a single roll. Apologies to all I have adversely affected. Hopefully I'm wrong. :-)

I caught the double-spending, applied it only to the first attack (the second missed with or without guidance), but then forgot to remove the guidance on Braddon from current effects. :(
Fortunately, the guidance would have been irrelevant on this round's attacks anyway: one miss, one hit with or without the +1. (And the Fort save as well.)

It's only a +1. How powerful can you expect a cantrip to be. :-)
I'll be attacking the injured one too, thanks.

*Raises hand* Ummmmm hello? Okay, I'm gonna quit now because, I don't know, I think my dad's advice on staying to help on the farm is looking pretty good right about now. Because, you know, this life of an adventure, well... it sucks. So, with that, see you later crab thingamajiggers and have a great time. I'll... I'll just be going now, m-kay? M-kay. Does it count as a TPK if y'all just decide to retire en masse from the adventuring life and go get 9-to-5 jobs? ;)
Because, I mean, honestly, these things are slow on land. You could easily just walk away from this fight.

Were we not investigating? Had we not seen _something_ in the pool? I'm sure I thought there was _some_ reason beside murderhobo bloodthirst, to fight these things.
Here:

So... 2nd Edition... what are peoples thoughts?
My knee-jerk review is that I like the changes, but need to draw it out a bit more in a PDF rather than just on Archives of Nethys.
My itchy DM feet are starting to get scratchy again too...
I am intrigued. I mean, I love me some 3.x, but 2e's got that new-system smell. I'm a bit worried about how well it's going to run in PbP, with triggers and reactions more a part of the flow of every round than you expected in 1e. Am I going to have to stop every time there's a trigger and say 'do you want to take your reaction now?' and wait on a response?
I think I'm going to run Hellknight Hill (the first chapter of Age of Ashes) on the boards just as a "learn-by-doing" exercise to see how it works in practice.
I think its definitely going to take a bit of trust and rhythm on the reaction side. Theater of the mind combat makes that even muddier unfortunately as well.
I share the Ooh shiny feels as well...

Locally, we'll probably ignore it, as we've got house rules and Supergenius swap-outs kind of baked into the history of the games at this point.
But I've been surprised before. Last time, was Pathfinder. :)

I need to get read up on 2e as well. I have a great idea for a goblin monk character, so if you are going to start up a playtest Joana I am totally interested.
Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness
I'll give it a shot. It looks fairly interesting. I just dread having to do character sheets by hand again. Herolabs sure made things sweet in that regard. But I surely ain't about to pay them for 2E.

I am very invested in PF1, but assume I'll get drawn in to 2nd Ed as everyone decides how good it is. Will likely play some 2E but may never GM. Still, give it a few years. :-)
Male Halfling Inquisitor of Calistria (Heretic archetype)
What currently has me intrigued and bemused is the potential that one of the better halfling rogue weapons... is an oversized serving fork.
Now they need one of these.
A big epic campaign I made back in AD&D was based on the party finding the tombs of the heroes who founded the kingdom centuries ago to retrieve their magic items to defend it. The halfling hero had a magic bag that you could pull vegetables out of, but if you threw them, they were carrots of piercing or exploding potatoes or what-have-you. If you were just hungry, it was a never-ending bag of stew supplies.
Come to think of it, Eulalie was in that campaign. She was the descendant of the halfling hero and leader of the kingdom's halfling community. I always like to have Eulalie as an NPC somewhere in my adventures; I guess she's my Easter egg.
