I did take some liberty. In future, do let me know if you want a particular roll or not. I'm happy for you to make rolls in secret if you wish- though I've found at least one of your secrets before. :-)

Having a busy week, and I need to get a map set up for the next area. Bear with me for another 24 hours.

Apologies for being absent. I posted in my other game that I was having a busy week and wouldn't have time to put up a combat map, but I really thought I'd get around to narrating you guys up the stairs. Instead I put my laptop away Tuesday night and didn't touch it again until this morning. Will get the gameplay moving again this weekend.

Yes, what DO we have to trade?

Knowledge of who sent us here, hoping he'd kill us? Even if he doesn't fear us at all, still bad business to have seagulls using you as a rock to break oysters. Even small oysters.

Anything else?

Very much liking watching the fishing.

Oh, and if it comes down to it, Snake puts the hat back on, and says "Hey Bub."

Some recent openings are available in Roderic's Cove. :-)
There's a spare church around and we know what happened to a bunch of missing women.
Scarlet Lil has gone rogue and has found an investment opportunity.
There's a few less Halfling assassins in town.
We know who killed the dressmaker.

For a start... :-)

Ran a 4-1/2 hour RL session today; will update thread tomorrow.

Never mind; that was easy enough. My other game is about to roll initiative.

Advance notice that I'm going to be traveling August 22-30. If we're not in combat, I might manage some posts on the road, but I'm not trying to wrangle maps in a hotel room.

Some days, you can only hope you're getting the bad rolls out of the way, before the fight.

:)

Hey, all! I'm alive and back from vacation, but between the multiple extended site outages, unpacking/laundry, and holiday weekend schedule disruptions, I'm struggling for time and energy to jump back in the gameplay. I'm going to aim for Tuesday when I can get back in a routine after Labor Day to get the game going.

Yay :-)

So Genevieve Lucille was born on Wed. We finally made it back home today. Had been living with the in-laws as our house was torn up by the contractors on the same day.

sigh...life is buuuusy.

So, sorry for the slow/late posting.

NOTHING MORE IMPORTANT

Capslock was accidental, playing DDO, but going to let that ride.

Congratulations and heartfelt best wishes.

Many congratulations indeed.
And a beautiful name.

Congratulations! That's two girls now, right? How old is your oldest?

So what's the consensus? Do y'all want to continue to negotiate with Ziphras for the information or take your leave?

hp 7 / 38; AC 16; Init +2; 3 Str damage Male Half-elf Ranger 4

I'm for stay and you guys chat... :-P

I may also be somewhat responsible for focusing us on the incorrect information, for which I apologise.

Male Halfling Inquisitor of Calistria (Heretic archetype)

I'm not sure of Ziphras' disposition at present - Phil wouldn't have gone with the snide-ish 'Shorafa will know' if there was a chance of further divulgence - he would have led with a 'Accepted, please... continue.' or the like.

I'm amenable to rewinding to the point where communication got garbled. It's a lot quicker to clarify things at the table than in PbP. Say after Ziphras opens negotiations?

hp 7 / 38; AC 16; Init +2; 3 Str damage Male Half-elf Ranger 4

Braddon will try and rewind things. In his own special way :-)

She is quite positively 2.

...going on 13.

Gristav, are you still with us?

Just looking now, sorry.

I had been looking daily until last Friday or so, but although Gristav is wondering if we'll draw blades on Jenner (or vice versa? Luck with Snake can't hold out, no matter how long Luck hides out...), he's not _discussing_ that in the open.

Heartfelt apologies for the lost week. I've had a minor adjustment in my routine which has had an outsized effect on my posting schedule. Clearly, I need to figure out a workaround. In the meantime, I will absolutely update the gameplay thread within 24 hours.

hp 7 / 38; AC 16; Init +2; 3 Str damage Male Half-elf Ranger 4

No probs. Take care.

hp 7 / 38; AC 16; Init +2; 3 Str damage Male Half-elf Ranger 4

It's that time of year again when I go on holiday. So I may be a bit slack for the next two weeks. Bot where necessary.
Also Pathfinder: Kingmaker CRPG is chewing my spare time up. I'm loving it :-)

Enjoy your vacation, Dave!

Are we entering the cave? Are we fighting Jenner? Are we asking more questions?

Male Halfling Inquisitor of Calistria (Heretic archetype)

I think it's time for ill-advised spelunking.

Hp :26/26; AC 11(15) / 11 tch / 10(14) ff; Fashionable Merchant 4

Agreed, lets go! Unless we decide to knife the rat first.

hp 7 / 38; AC 16; Init +2; 3 Str damage Male Half-elf Ranger 4

Braddon is always happy to knife someone. However, I'll need some prompting this time.
Gamewise, this may be our best chance. But we don't have silver weapons and I dunno how the wiz's are for spells.
Storywise, I feel Braddon is unlikely to start the fight without a command or unless Jenner tries something, but being CN he could just go the baddie if no one else has a better reason.

Smart people may want to extract a confession or some such from Jenner though we probably have what we need.

Ultimately, do we report back to the bosses or do it ourselves? If the latter, how do we sell that to the bosses?

My vote is for spelunking. But Jenner isn't my subplot so I'd give most weight to Mark's vote.

Braddon won't be posting next, but will follow any command given. :-)

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Richard Pett has written a goblins novel! They're not technically Golarion goblins, but they have similar affinities for fire and random self-destructive violence. If you enjoy goblins, I highly recommend it!

On topic for the game, I'm not sure if Phil is interested in avenging Betta. That's for Mark to say, however.

Male Halfling Inquisitor of Calistria (Heretic archetype)

My honest answer is that I missed the connection... but the follow up is that Phil's happy to let it lie and not pursue.

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Hey, guys. Just caught up again. I'm still loving the story, and moreso the way it's being told.

This is my new favorite quote.

Braddon Hurst wrote:

Braddon takes a step forward.

"Look. I have to kill Lil. Real bad. She killed my Gramma. I don't care what the price is. I've got a spare sword. It's beautiful quality. Not as good as the one I wanna put through Lil but you can have it. Now."
Braddon slowly takes his Masterwork Short Sword and, hilt first, pushes it towards the nearest thug.
"I was gonna sell it to pay these guys back. I'm not sure how much I owe. They'll tell me. But you can have this. Just for talking. I'm sorry. I just hafta kill Lil. And maybe toss her head over the cliff where Gramma was found. Shorafa may not like it, but it's important."
Braddon takes a step back and waits nervously.

Hp :26/26; AC 11(15) / 11 tch / 10(14) ff; Fashionable Merchant 4

Well, needless to say, I am surprised.

But that being said, we know where Jenner is, and if there is a need to bring him to...justice...then we can find him later.

Gristav, does your butterfly have some sort of enhanced vision? Or am I misunderstanding your post?

M 1/2E Magus 4 :2223a1: BAB3 CMB/D:5/17 AC/T/Ff:16/12/14 Init2 Perc1?3(F:9) HP36/36 FRW6,5,3(F:6) UMD11 Scft10 Alch/K:Arc/K:Lcl/Appr7 Ride/Climb/Swim/Dance:6 Dipl/Intim/Acrobatics5 Sense Motive3(F:6)

Darkvision? This link says...

A quick search said so. I'm hoping even in the absence of any sensory link, Bolbo would keep Gristav from blundering off a cliff or similar. Gristav, for his part, might offer a firefly mote on his staff as a sort of lighthouse, if Bolbo needs it.

Okay, I was going off the statblock in your profile, but I do remember that Paizo printed an official butterfly statblock after we'd worked up an unofficial one.

While the butterfly can see in the dark, traveling unworked stone is too difficult to do in the dark without you all taking the penalties of the Blinded condition. You can have the butterfly as far ahead as you like, but remember that your empathic link only allows general emotions (including things it may interpret as dangerous), not specific sights and sounds.

I will probably continue with slow posting through the rest of the holiday week.

Also, hey, therealthom! Good to see you!

*making notes* electric eels ... poison ... octopi....

Braddon gives me the best ideas! ;D

Will advance gameplay tomorrow. Until the holiday season is over, weekend posts will almost certainly be the exception rather than the rule.

hp 7 / 38; AC 16; Init +2; 3 Str damage Male Half-elf Ranger 4

Ideas for other games, right? Right?
:-D

Absolutely! Marikel will never suspect poison octopuses and electric eels in the Longhouse!

hp 7 / 38; AC 16; Init +2; 3 Str damage Male Half-elf Ranger 4

LOL. Indeed, he never will.

As if he didn't hate Braddon enough already... and he's never even met him. :-)

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

Gonna keep the light ahead where Braddon can see.

Now if any of y'all think it should be elsewhere, just say so. Doesn't matter to me where we roll with it. But barring objections, will keep it to where Braddon can see.

Hp :26/26; AC 11(15) / 11 tch / 10(14) ff; Fashionable Merchant 4

I am alive. Kind of. I am in the ICU trying to figure out how to get a heart rate under control, and I had 2 patients pass away earlier today. Its been a busy as F kinda week.

Oh, so sorry, Zeta! Take care of yourself; you have two little girls who need you.

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

Man I could never be a doctor. Like never. Which is probably why I'm not. :P And that would be hard to deal with. Losing patients that is. I don't see how doctors do it.

Sorry once again for the delay. The holiday season is getting to me. I got a map ready over the weekend, but I haven't had time to put together a post for when Braddon peeks around the corner. I hope to get it up within 24 hours. Thanks for your patience.

Took me 25 hours. I'm out of practice in setting up combat posts; y'all avoided fighting most of the wererats. Then there's light sources and vision-blocking and (ugh) grappling rules. I'm never sure I'm getting those right.

Male Halfling Inquisitor of Calistria (Heretic archetype)

Tis a mess of inconsistency and morass of uncertain outcomes... but your efforts are appreciated :)

Gristav wrote:
That view-drawing tool (It's a tool, right? One hopes.) is awesome.

Isn't it, though? One of my favorite things about MapTool. You can also assign each avatar a type of vision (normal, low-light, darkvision, etc.), and it will interact with the light sources and shadows to show brightly-lit vs. dimly-lit vs. dark for each character. It makes line of sight and concealment very clear.

Braddon Hurst wrote:

Racial bonus to the free grapple check.

Braddon Hurst wrote:

No, but that also means the crab gets no cover from you.

Yes, it's hidden under your spoiler in the previous post. Here.
