I have Christmas with one side of the family on Christmas Eve, with another on Christmas Day, and am finally seeing Jumanji the morning of the 26th, so I might not get a chance to post again until after that. Enjoyable holidays to everyone, in the meantime!

Eight, actually. That was Starday, 3 Arodus, and now it's Sunday the 11th. Of course, a couple of those days passed fairly quickly when you were traveling back and forth to Roderic's Cove.
It occurs to me we may want to regroup the party, and not indulge Gris' whimsies.

My county in Texas is going into lockdown tomorrow. Every county in Texas makes its own call and ours decided to shut it down. I'm a driver for UPS and there ain't no shutting us down.
I lost the job because I do too many things and some of it looks like it can be literally phoned in from Colombia, and the rest you have to pay attention to understand. So new CEO with no time to pay attention looks at my 55-yr old, 40-years in the business salary, compares it to the Colombian company's rate, and thinks the math is simple.
Man I am sorry to hear that, bud. That is such a freaking joke. That's so typical of companies. Doesn't matter how WELL you do your job it just boils down to pay rate. "Oh you've been here how long? And you make how much? Well sorry, we're going to have to let you go. We've just decided to go in a different direction. Thanks for all you've done and have a great day!"

A similar thing happened to my dad toward the end of his career. The company ended up having to hire him back as an independent consultant for a few years to train the younger guy who got his job because he couldn't figure out how to do everything my dad had done, which was a big boost for my dad's ego at the time.
God grief that is horrible Gristav. I am so sorry. I hope the company realizes its error and brings you back on in some capacity as soon as possible.
I am still kicking. Detroit is in the middle of a crazy upswing in cases. Its not as visible as NYC where my buddy is dealing with epic horror, but we are busy.

I also add my sympathies, Gristav, for what good they'll do. You're a smart man though, so I think you'll be okay... even in America.
I'm stupidly lucky. Like Javell, I'm in the mail business. They're getting all non essential staff to stay home, but as I'm international complaints, that counts as frontline. So I'll still be around for a while.

Echoing the sentiments of stay safe all. We've been in effective lockdown a while now (as we had a cold come through the household early last week) and are kind of just hanging out for the government to press the big red button and shut it all down for a while.

On my front, one of the guys contracting part of my position called an hour ago about _another_ customer's server he was building, how come it can't X? He described what he saw, and although I've _never_ walked that path, I pointed to two places where trouble might come from...
Half hour later, he texts back, right on both points.
And he didn't have to call Colombia.
Which helps my morale, and I needed that, because looking at 13 years in one place and trying to fit it on a resume is an emotional ride, at least for me.

That is the short-term plan. But can't live there, Mrs is stroke survivor, so I need to breadwin insurance the consultant gig won't provide.

Still doing ok. Detroit is a bit of a mess, as I imagine most of the major metropolitan areas are or will be. The system that I work for started out well resourced, so while we are burning through PPE at a furious clip, we started ahead, so there was some time to flex. That being said, I have bought my own gear and have a N100 mask on the way to myself soon. I don't want to get myself or my family sick.
