d8: 1d8 ⇒ 7 very nice HP. +2 also from Con.
4th lvl: +1 to INT for 17 total. Nothing changes.
Hexcrafter gets a Hex. Will have to research the options.
Two new Magus spells. Pagebound Epiphany and Pyrotechnics.
Skill points and FC bonus point will be in same post as Hex choice.

Hold the phone. Is Bestow Curse a 2nd-lvl spell for a Hexmage?

Gristav wrote:

It's only 2nd-level for the medium, who doesn't get 2nd-level spells until 7th-level.

HeroLab has it as a 4th-level spell, following the wizard progression; they get it at 7th level as well.

Looks like the witch gets the earliest access, as a 3rd-level spell at 5th level.

Unless the Hexcrafter gets the earliest access, as a 2nd-level spell at 4th level. :) But I do read, your 'no'. Guessing at a rule that Hexcrafter's access to a Curse-descriptor spell is never to be earlier than...? Nope, still not understanding. But accepting.

I don't think it will be worth a 3rd-level slot for combat use, even delivered with a strike.

OTOH, Feast of Ashes appears to be safely 2nd level. Is my reading correct, that a failed save would immediately inflict 1d6 non-lethal and fatigue the target? Or would it only start the 3-day clock?

Does Puzzle Box, cast in the second fashion, on an object, and therefore permanent, allow a regular user of the object, by the language in the first paragraph's 5th, 6th, and 7th sentences, to 'negate the effects' of the spell only for that user, in perpetuity? So tomorrow, pick it up, you're fine, and the day after, a stranger would still be puzzled? If the move-action puzzle-solve is not permanent, how often might it be needed?

Tempting to Puzzle Box the ashen stave, belt purses, door latches, diaries, ledgers, spellbooks...

Oh wait, Puzzle Box, is it 5th-level access? I mean, is it available now?

Violent Accident? Mark of Blood?

Gristav wrote:

You don't have to wait three days, but by my reading, if the subject fails the Fort save, they still get a chance at the Con check to avoid the nonlethal damage. I.e., they'd have to fail two rolls to take damage and become fatigued immediately.

Puzzle box is a 3rd-level spell for a wizard or a witch (and thus a magus). Violent accident and mark of blood are both 2nd level.

Thanks you. Updated.

Snake should be done. I can't do anything with Lucky anymore. Herolabs has kicked out 'Mongoose' because apparently the mongoose is now in another book that I don't have purchased. It was fine initially but no longer. Man what a bunch of punks. Ah well.

Heck, "Looking for Work" is also no longer allowed. And it's a SD trait! But, whatever. I include it anyway.

Hex is Water Lung

Spells will be Violent Accident and Instant Weapon

6 skill points (2+3INT+1FC)
+2 in UMD
+3 in Spellcraft
1 in Linguistics

Had rolled a 7 for HP, will be 9 with CON for 36 HP.

I think that's all the choices/rolls.

Edit: Darn, forgot Spellcraft. Edited to shift skills into Spellcraft, had thought to buy Crafts: Calligraphy, Bows, and Ships. But SC needed for battle.

Gristav, between the rank in Linguistics and adding +1 to Int, you get three more languages.

Snake, I believe you should have four hexes now.

I only see 17 of your 20 skill points spent; you should have three left.

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

I do. It's Tongues. I just didn't put Hex by it.

Per skill points: There's a solid reason for that. My dog at my homework.

The +1 to Int got him to 17, doesn't change the bonus from 16 at start... are we playing the same rules? I won't complain, but I cannot claim to understand.

Aquan, to go with the Water Lung, all part of the same dream I'll likely never get written up.

Dwarven, Gris'd been cribbing it for years, but now memories of Larur all have L speaking in it... and Gristav finds he understands.

Thassilon or Azlant?

Phillip, where are you adding your ability score increase?

*shrug* Skill increases are retroactive, for ease in building higher-level characters.

Went with Thassilonian. And I figured out what was up with the languages. The INT change is not a factor, 16 is the same as 17. But still three more, yes: Common and Elven from Half-elf, Cosmopolitan feat brought Tien and Varisian. Then, that feat forgotten, but 16 INT considered, added Sylvan. And now a point of Linguistics adds one, but there was two languages of slack space... for three.

So Aquan, Dwarven, Thassilonian? Justification for Aquan is very weak.

So, now that we're getting to an exciting part (another exciting part... I mean it's all exciting but... anyway) I'm on holidays for the next 2 weeks. I'll have my trusty computer and will check in, but will be erratic.

ZetaGilgamesh, I sent you a PM. Don't know if you missed the notification.

So, are we splitting the party? *rubs GM hands with glee* Who's going upstairs? Who's going downstairs? Is anyone taking Saul?

How high had the water got? Is the carpet in fact sodden? A wash of the kitchen might have drained away from the great room. We've a lot of space below, not pleasant to have it flooded, but it might have helped spare the rest.

The carpet on the casino floor, assuming you open the doors to check it, is in fact damp and squelchy, as the sudden inflow from the river outpaced the spill down the staircase, but the dampness in the main area of the Goblin is mainly limited to floor and baseboards, as the basement stairs provided a drain. Looks like the water in the kitchen itself, between the river and the stairs, climbed maybe knee- to thigh-high for the Medium characters before going down the stairwell or back to the river.

It's Halloween week, which means that we have begun the unstoppable landslide through the holidays to the new year. For the duration, I will be less likely to post on the weekends, and I may be a bit slower during the week as well, though I will give notice if I'm going to miss any time entirely.

I believe you guys were planning on getting Braddon's strength restored at some point. Do you want to go down without doing that first?

Braddon has no fear, though the party may be concerned their front liner won't be hitting hard (or accurately).

In game, we were just going to check a body so it makes sense to go on. If there's an encounter we can pull back and get healing (if we survive).

Tactically, however, -3 TH and Dam may make a big dent in our efforts. Or maybe not, considering my luck :-)

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

Yeah I'm thinking we should get that taken care of. We have the absolute WORST time hitting as it is we surely don't need to help that cause out in any way.

Not sure who we go to to fix you up but whoever can, that's where we need to head.

This is a test

It's been Arnando, but if he's there to be found, he's going to be tapped out probably with helping folk. We might be able to mortgage our "Through the door, line on the left, one heal each" for a bunch of people, as a balance for the high-power restore needed for Braddon? That's a lot of ifs, none of it mine or Gristav's to say.

Doesn't NEED to be Arnando, but the only other I know of is Shorafa. Neither I nor (the 'exotic') Gris want to know what SHE'd want in trade.

Oh, I like this for his new eye color:

https://lancerus.fandom.com/wiki/Half-Elf

I suppose that could be Gristav.

So Gristav's going to climb down by himself? Is that the plan?

M 1/2E Magus 4 :2223a1: BAB3 CMB/D:5/17 AC/T/Ff:16/12/14 Init2 Perc1?3(F:9) HP36/36 FRW6,5,3(F:6) UMD11 Scft10 Alch/K:Arc/K:Lcl/Appr7 Ride/Climb/Swim/Dance:6 Dipl/Intim/Acrobatics5 Sense Motive3(F:6)

It's Gristav's plan. He's not known for wisdom. But he thinks he'll test the steps, whisk the worst with prestidigtation, and if all is well enough, the rest can join in time for Saul to slam the trapdoor and sit on it laughing.

I believe the rope is Braddon's. Dave, does Gristav have permission to borrow your rope as he descends?

Of course. Braddon will even tie it to something if required. :-)

It's Gristav's intent that Saul not be excused the trip. He's made it before, and is our nearest to a native guide.

RAW looks like 1 scroll per day max regardless of anything else. If so, Tendal would like to do 1 color spray scroll. Looks to take about 30 minutes to actually work on it after dividing out the time.

No problem. He can easily do that while the others are out.

He's not carrying it, so it's no loss.

FYI - I will be travelling for our Christenmas journey to Sydney (hopefully dodging bushfires on the way) then onwards to the Philippines thereafter. I will be on sketchy net connection through till about 12 January, so while an attempt at posting will be made - naught can be guaranteed.

So over this time I hope you all eat well, make merry and enjoy the time :)
