This is pretty random, but if anyone is planning on playing Pathfinder Online, I'm in with a really good group over at Pax Gaming. Most of them have early enrollment, and so do I. If your interested, let me know. =)

We got any artists in this group? I would love to see an interpretation of the Fierce Ones Vs. The Morays.
I'm able, but so damned busy/lazy/full of excuses....
I'll see what I can do about posting some drawings of the more epic moments when I get the chance. :)

The FOs are right on track at 8th level now.... I anticipate them reaching 9th level by the time they've finished with The Silver Tower....
Hopefully, no one is getting bored with the sameness of the ST--that's the only drawback to big "dungeon crawls" (or in this case, office building crawl)--they can start to get tedious, so let me know if you guys want a change of scenery or pace, etc....
Of course, this is a huge sandbox, so you know you can put the tower aside any time you want to do something else.
There are, of course, greater horrors awaiting you on the upper levels of The ST....

Michael Johnson 66 |

I'm actually enjoying the dungeon crawl. Having always been in "epic world spanning adventures" I've never cleaned out a dungeon before.
Cool! Dungeon crawls have always been my favorite kind of adventures--so much adventure and challenge packed in close proximity. It was the first and most popular type of adventuring back when the game had the word dungeons in its name, after all! :-)

This is looking rather far ahead, as there are still 10 levels of The ST to explore, but assuming The FOs are victorious and clear out The ST, I've got a few other things brewing....
The Great Old One known as Ithaqua has begun his invasion of Cthulhu's claimed territory in North America by spawning his new breed of Sasquatch werewolves (sasqwolves, or weresquatches) in the Cascade Mountains region of the American NW, a violent and bloodthirsty breed that has begun to infect the native Sasquatch population at such a rate that there might soon be only weresquatches stalking the countryside....
Lavinia Whateley draws ever closer to her goal of finding the Book of Thoth and the Ankh of Ra, and using them to open a portal into this world through which the terrible alien god known as Yog Sothoth might enter and claim Earth as its own, a second apocalypse that would make humanity miss the good old days of the lesser Great Old Ones' reign of terror....
The Great Old One known as Shub Niggurath has consolidated her utter dominion over Australia, and has been spawning horrible monstrous aberrations called Dark Young of Shub Niggurath, turning that great continent into a Hell on Earth for the scattered bands of survivors holding out there....

So it is likely I'm late to the party with this tidbit, but after finally reading through Reign of Winter, I saw there is a set of stat blocks for WWI era firearms and such. Might be helpful for mixing the modern aesthetic and the desire to stay true to RAW in case you hadn't noticed it, MJ.

Cool, I'll check em out.... Never too late to add more options, IMO....

Im having fun no doubt.. Work just super-picked up.. But I apologize, considering it is my responsibilty to contribute EERYDAY with good ol' Derrik/Arthurness. And So I do so now.
Welcome back! No apology needed, bud.... You have been a tireless contributor so far, increased workload is an understandable reason to miss a couple days.
Besides, as you know, if I feel a PC is holding things up, I'll just make a DM puppet and post my best guess at the player's likely actions, etc.

I intend to keep my former pace.. FOR THE GLORY OF THIS STORY.. SO SAYS RULADIN!

I'm designing a table top PF campaign to run at the LGS that is inspired by the success of this PbP game set in modern Earth. This new campaign reimagines Norse mythology as a space opera sci-fi fantasy, a la Star Wars....
All races are available to play, but as in this PbP, several races represent bio-engineered humans. The other nonhuman races are aliens from a world other than Midgard (Earth)....
Magic is more psionic than supernatural, a la the Force from Star Wars....
The campaign is set after a great cosmic battle known as Ragnarok that leaves Midgard in a state of unending "Fimbulwinter", sort of like a nuclear winter, so Midgardians (humans, halflings, and other genetically altered "humans") have begun to seek a new home world....
The PCs would be members of an expedition sent to explore and colonize a newly-discovered Midgard-like world, so it will be a sandbox consisting of a continent in the planet's temperate zone, inhabited by savage beasts and primitive humanoid cultures....
Laser weapons will simply be the existing advanced firearms except that they deal fire damage instead of piercing and bludgeoning....
The Norse deities (actually just really powerful aliens, a la Marvel Comics' "gods") will largely have perished in Ragnarok, but a few will still be around to grant divine spellcasters their power....
Many evil races and monsters will be native to the dark planet Niflheim, or from the rugged and mountainous Jotunheim, or from volcanic Muspelheim, including the evil giant races which represent Midgard's chief foes....
Once the PCs are of sufficient level, they will start to find bases already established by the evil giants and dark elves on the new world....
Starship rules and ship combat will be adapted from the rules for vehicles and naval combat which already exist in Ultimate Combat and (I think) Game Mastery Guide....
I know the fluff is not everyone's cup of tea ("Hey! You got sci-fi in my fantasy! Yuck!"), but I've obviously been thinking about how the PF RAW can be used to simulate settings and genres other than straight swords-n-sorcery fantasy, and am having alot of fun playing with this idea....

Michael Johnson 66 |

Once we've finished this PbP, and after I've finished running this space opera campaign, I'll probably be ready to return to a good old gritty swords-n-sorcery campaign in my fave old setting--The World of Greyhawk (Gygax's home campaign for those who aren't familiar--where such classic adventures as the old 1st Ed Slavelords mods, the infamous Temple of Elemental Evil, and the various giant strongholds from the G-series mods are located)! Robert E Howard's world that he set his Conan stories in would be another possibility for a classic s-n-s campaign....
Wherever it takes place fictionally, I'll definitely run it as a PbP, and you all will have first option to join, as you all have proven to be excellent RPers and faithful contributors to what has been, and continues to be, the best campaign I've ever participated in, as DM or player. :-)

A sci-fi PF game sounds awesome, I love the ideas you have going there. Speaking of the Marvel universe ideas for gods, I would also suggest possibly checking out Jack Kirby's (and later Neil Gaiman's) The Eternals. It might have some useful ideas to borrow.

Read it a few years ago. i think my neighbor has my copy of a graphic novel that collects the first however-many-issues of The Eternals....

Michael Johnson 66 |

The Ancient Aliens concept in general has greatly influenced my designs for the sci-fi campaign.... On the "new" world the PCs will be exploring, they will find ruins and wrecked ships from an ancient civilization long extinct (illithids!), as well as the outposts of current rival civilizations--drow and giants.... The drow will have three functioning fighter-class starships in a cave-hangar, and the frost giants will have a snow globe-like bio dome where the temp is more arctic inside, and the foundations of a shipyard where they will have a heavy freighter docked and several other ships in the early stages of construction....
In honor of the fantasy origins of the races and even setting names (Asgard, Midgard, etc, the ships and other tech will have a fantastic style, more Spelljammer than Star Wars.... Medieval armor and weapons will still be the norm, but dragon-shaped laser rifles with rune-covered barrels, and ships that look like giant dragonflies or metal hawks will be added....

Michael Johnson 66 |

I guess the blend of sci-fi and fantasy I'm going for is really Saturday morning cartoons meets comic books--Thundaar the Barbarian, Masters of the Universe, and Thundercats mixed with Marvel Comics science....
Oh yeah! Now I want to make villains like Skeletor (death knight or lich), Mum-Ra (lich), and some Thundaar-style android sorcerer BBEG, and have them all gang up with some Skrull-like space doppelgängers!

To turn this discussion board back to the campaign it was meant to discuss (thanks for indulging me), I promise that Chesterfield and Mahatma won't ALWAYS be this chatty lol.... At least, I won't always go into detail about it.... I figured a dose now and then would help explain why The Daemon-Lord wasn't too concerned when they took off and didn't return lol!
