Unfortunately, 9th is a pretty boring level for Oracles (though I did get 4 new spells. =)).
11th is the next real interesting one, get a new Revelation (so many good options in Dark Tapestry too...probably gonna get the one that grants See In Darkness), and progressions to my old ones (my wings turn into Overland Flight for hours/level, and I get Beast Shape 3 from the Many Forms thing).
Though that's right! I do get 5th level spells and Telekinesis next level. I've never actually used that spell (or any 5th level spell, 9th is the highest I've played a caster to), looks fun.

So with a bit of help from a friend, I have some a pair of people I could have reincarnated from, mythical and historical.
-Socrates, hallucinated a "daemon" that he talked to.
-Orestes, killed his mother and was driven mad by the Furies.
There aren't very many insane mythological figures, at least in the modern sense of the word. -.-

Radsworth |

Heh.
Orestes is better than playing Oedipus.
9th was okay for me I guess. New spell levels and Spell Penetration. I also grabbed Telekinesis. It should be good for us now that I'm going to be tossing pits around.

Darius "Mr. Clean" Blake |

Nice even spread. :D I take it the thing is still up?

Michael Johnson 66 |

Obviously, this time of year is hectic for everyone to some degree....
I myself will probably take a break from posting til after the New Year....
Hope all is well with everyone, enjoy the holidays (or buckle down and weather them as best you can as the case may be lol)....
I will return with vigor to continue this epic tale with whomever is still on board after the New Year!

Darius "Mr. Clean" Blake |

*Raises hand. Then the other. Then a foot, but almost pulls a groin muscle.*

Rynjin |

Coolio.
How many people do we still have? Pete's been MIA for a while, both on here and in the chat for our Monday RotRL game, so I think we can count him out.
Clean's here, Yingzen's here, I'm here...anybody heard from Daisy, Mikey Jay, or Radsworth?

Michael Johnson 66 |

I'm running Daisy and Mikey Jay, and I'm afraid Radsworth has left the building lol
Sorry about the loss of momentum, I've been crazy busy with RL stuff, and have just begun drawing this campaign in graphic novel form....
This is gonna make a sick, epic graphic novel, but creating it is a monumental task lol....
I will post here occasionally as time permits, because, of course, every story needs an ending....
But the pace of the campaign will probably slow down considerably for awhile, I think....
Thank you to everyone who has contributed.... I'll post links to the first few pages when I get a chance! :)

Derrik Stonesmith |

I apologize for my absence it was an unjust thing of me to do.. I will say you played Derrik quite well at this time.. I will once again throw my hat into the ring if you would have me.. Over here simply getting INTERNET was hard as I have finally moved back on my own. I cannot express my apologies enough.
I want you to have a good ending with Epic demented proportions Micheal and I want to be involved in it... What BETTER WAY TO INSPIRE YOU LIKE A LIVING CAMPAIGN?

Prof. Naomi Levinson |

All of the apologies for my absence the past while. If you have need of an arcane caster and can forgive my disappearance due to some RL junk, then I humbly tip my hat to thee and offer my services once more until the conclusion of this adventure.

Michael Johnson 66 |

Excellent! Nice to see you back, Levinson and Derrik! I'll get off my arse and start posting again soon....
All of you should friend me if you are on Facebook--
Mike Johnson in Bradenton, Fl-- so you can see the 38+ pages I've drawn up so far of the graphic novel based on this mad tale lol
Btw, if u do, plz also send a message saying who u r in game so I know lol....

Michael Johnson 66 |

Levinson, you will notice if you read everything that's happened in your absence, that I had to use a cheesey act-of-evil-god to explain your PC's disappearance....
The idea was that with the traitorous Mephos' info about the group, Cthulhu was able to cast a special mythic summoning spell that teleported you, Kepler, and a few other PCs of players who had to drop out (Koran and the fey-aasimar bard, who it turns out were played by the same sneaky player lol) to a monster-and-deathtrap-filled maze in R'lyeh, where it was presumed that you fought the good fight to the last breath off scene....
I purposely left your fates vague out of some mystical GM's foresight that you might return to the fold.... And voila! Here you are! :)
So.... Levinson was able to use her own innate power over summoning magic to partially escape Cthulhu's trap--instead of arriving in the maze in R'lyeh, Levinson was instinctively and reflexively able to slip with Kepler into the Ethereal Plane instead, and she will soon discover a way back to the Prime Material Plane and Earth, where she can rejoin the Fierce Ones!

Prof. Naomi Levinson |

I could always take a level dip in Diabolist and write up something about being saved via a pact with Mephistopheles.
EDIT: Oh bummer, turns out you need to have summoned the creature via a planar summoning spell as a special condition. So unless we can DM fiat that and just pay the price of a wand for Planar binding to keep it kosher, I will be sticking to my vanilla summoning

Michael Johnson 66 |

So, it appears we have active players playing:
Derrik/Arthur
Yingzen
Levinson
Mr Clean/Blake
Marcus
Daisy
Mikey Jay
Haven't heard from Radsworth yet, but my fingers are still crossed....
The above will all be posted together in the same locale when the assault begins.

I was just thinking, with Derrik's at will use of Detect Evil and his massive aura of good plus my familiar's constant Detect Good and his big ole aura as an evil outsider... There might be some fun to be had there.
So I was thinking through this unique turn of events for my character and the following may become a little long-winded, so apologies in advance.
I feared I may have written myself into a corner because why in the (literal) hells would a near-deity care that much about a mortal? He digs contracts to get souls of course, the Nine Hells would presumably be quite unhappy with Chaotic outsiders like Cthulhu, and the Old Ones wrecking up their soul supply. But beyond that why give any special consideration to her? Particularly why would he want to take her to Cania and use it as a chance for her to be better suited to stop Cthulhu and Co.
Then an idea hit me, and if this is too grand/complicated/silly, keep whatever you like and throw away the rest or all. And for the love of Gygax, I swear I hate Mary Sueing, and I hope you see I am not trying to anything of the sort. I just wanted to figure out a hypothetical justification. Another note, my idea of Mephistopheles comes fairly heavily from Christopher Marlowe's Doctor Faustus and a big bit from the 3.5 book Fiendish Codex II. Obviously as GM, I give you utter control to change him as you wish.
So, playing off of the wonderful reincarnation backstories, I looked into Circe who was in most myths either a deity, just below a deity, or a mortal whose power was fairy deity-like. Would it have been plausible then that both being power-hungry near-deities bent on using manipulation and charisma for their means the two encountered each other before. Maybe Circe, when she was Circe, was able to swindle the diabolic swindler or any number of things. But in the end she picked Odysseus over him (fitting a lot of stories saying she had his kids) and now lifetimes upon lifetimes later, Mephistopheles finally has a chance to get her back (partnership, romantically, something else, whatever) and is using this as his chance. Circe has finally reincarnated to someone who is capable of reclaiming the level of magical might she once had and has finally reincarnated as someone who is in a place to need to make a deal with him. Maybe that's why he "helped" her? He doesn't want another soul to be trapped in eternity in ice, he wants someone in the castle with him. As an equal, certainly not because he is egotistical. But as someone who is as close as he would ever see to a partner of sorts.
Anyway, there is my rambling idea to fix a possibly plothole. Feel free to use any/some/none of it if it suits the story for you. We could always just leave it as a mystery because he is an immortal outsider whose motivation eludes the Fierce Ones.
