I'm down. This is good fun and I like the threat of death. Rad was losing confidence pretty quickly. Plus Spellslingers are kindve a big fat nerf to the wizard. It's like playing Hellgate Longdon on Hard Mode.

Derrik Stonesmith |

Cmon big Money 1d10 ⇒ 9
Paladin level Achieved Alignment shifted... Super good guy joined the party.. maybe.
Hrm Derrik has to talk to the group first. Lets hope some nice RP can happen between us.
Im still deciding between Sacred Shield and regular... because sacred shield can REALLY diminish damage..

Derrik Stonesmith |

Derrik doesnt know this. But yeah I have a couple of ideas on what to do... firstly though what would be the proper skill to repair things profession Blacksmith? Would that help for the pontoon or would I need engineering?
Also.. man.. That is a tough decision on the Land team... as that creature is HORRIBLY evil.

Craft (blacksmith) would work, or Knowledge (engineering). The motor is unharmed, just some damage to the frame at the aft, a DC 10 check sufficient to hammer it into shape.

Michael Johnson 66 |

This will be odd, as if/when that happens Because of Derrik being not engineered. But I guess there are some things that can be said for.. saving lives.
Derrik would likely be welcomed as a fellow survivor and combatant against the forces of evil, and rewarded for his aid in resuscitating Prue and Lakra by the chief NPCs at Pandora's.

Its funny you say.. Hammer ( As he has one )

Unless Lakra starts posting again soon, I'll assume he's dropping out and have him remain in PB, continuing his janitorial duties.
If Peanut wants to keep playing Prue, she will keep adventuring with Team Lido, of course. Otherwise, she'll be assigned to a different team for the next expedition or remain at PB to assist in R&D.

As an example for buying gear, you might decide you want a masterwork weapon (300 + weapons normal cost), a masterwork armor (150 + norm cost), and spend the rest (~500 gp) on potions. Post something like: the chief leaders at Pandora's Box reward me with a new mwk version of my battered revolver, a cutting-edge Kevlar vest (mwk chain shirt), and 3 specially-formulated regenerative serums (pots of cute light wounds)....

What would you guys like to see happen in this campaign? It's a sandbox, so I have lots of things set up and planned, but I feel it's good policy as DM to find out what your players like in an RPG and give it to them in your own style.
For instance, if you like the idea of globe trotting around to exotic locations in the new and deadly Post-Apocthulhu Earth, let me know and I'll plan some adventures in distant places--they have an air strip and a few jets in the hangar at PB.
My general plan is to have u gain a few levels exploring Lido Key before sending you further afield in search of various powerful artifacts to empower you against Cthulhu and his monstrous minions. More specifically, Prof Solomon will eventually learn of the following artifacts' actual existence and supposed locations:
Excalibur, sword of King Arthur (+5 holy bane vs evil outsiders vorpal longsword), believed to be in the possession of a supernatural native outsider called the Lady of the Lake in Loch Ness;
The Holy Grail (chalice that can cast heal 3/day on a creature that drinks any liquid from the chalice), believed to lie in a tomb in the ruins of Jerusalem;
Mjolnir, hammer of Thor (+5 thundering shock throwing returning bane vs giants and evil outsiders earth breaker), believed to lie at the bottom of the North Sea and to be guarded by the ghost of a dread linnorm called Jormungandr;
The Staff of Merlin (+5 dancing defending quarter staff, acts as all types of greater metamagic rods), believed to lie in an extra dimensional prison accessed via a secret cavern under Stonehenge;
The Shroud of Turin (funeral shroud casts resurrection 3/day on a dead creature's remains), believed to be guarded by powerful demons bound by Cthulhu in the ruins of the Smithsonian Museum;
The Ankh of Ra (haven't decided what it will do yet besides f$*~ up aberrations and evil outsiders), believed to be hidden in a secret vault within the Great Pyramid.
Maybe two or three more if I can think of a few more awesome real-world artifacts to throw in there, would like for each PC to get to carry one and use it in the eventual grand climactic battle against Cthulhu himself in the ruins of R'lyeh!

I'm having a good time as you are running it already. There's tough choices, multiple daily encounters, mobs and bbeg's, plus not everything is murder or be murdered.
I'll probably keep pushing a lot of knowledge checks at you and buying and eventually making a lot of consumable items.
Some exploring would greatly interest Rad, given his traits and focus on knowledge history and geography. Also, I sent you a PM with a question regarding the Spellslinger.
=)

Cool, glad u r having fun, I'm enjoying your portrayal of Radsworth, he's a fun character! I'll check on your question and get back to u ASAP....

Michael Johnson 66 |

I would love to see some exotic adventures searching for artifacts. I may be a little bit biased as I love high powered campaigns with OP PC's
Heheh, then u r in for a treat, my friend, as that will be the bulk of this campaign! I think u will probably gain 6 or 7 levels cleaning up Lido Key before the first artifact adventure, though....

There's a lot of really cool reclaimable items to pepper in the world.
Just a few?
Ark of the Covenant, the Ark also contained Aaron's rod, a jar of manna and the first Torah scroll as written by Moses depending on which holy book you read. There's a few places it could be. Who knows?
The Crown of Thorns, supposedly the crown that Jesus wore was never destroyed and was preserved in a thick embalming fluid.
The Holy Lance, also called the Lance of Longinus or the Spear of Destiny. Several places claim to have the lance tip, or parts of it.
Then there's the Dead Sea Scrolls, The Ica Stones, Stonehenge, and earths weird ley lines, to name a few more.

Take the real world, assume that much of the lore and myth was true or based in fact and magic works, and you already have a pretty awesome campaign world. Have Cthulhu bring a monster apocalypse in the modern age with bioengineered super soldiers and supernatural heroes, and you have what I humbly propose might be among the most awesome campaign settings ever played in....

Michael Johnson 66 |

I say take us where the story goes. I like everything about it so far. What I really like is being able to access current and past real culture in an RPG. Pretty cool.
Sweet, glad you like it so far! Grimm is a lot of fun, keep up the good work! :)

Derrik Stonesmith |

Hrm.. If only there was an Axe.. Like Basilikos or something I would be much more swayed. Though Excalibur is a pretty pally sword.. Mmmm. So far I have to say I'm enjoying what your doing already and would implore you continue on this Tirade of mind-screwery. Now.. lets see how Derrik handles a much different challenge.. Jewels.

I was wondering how you would work magic into the campaign. Now I know!

You go ethereal for a few rounds. Presumably, our plan should be to engage the creature, and when it uses its own natural ability to shift ethereal to escape or set a trap, we use the oil and go after it so we can engage it before it can retreat and re-strike.
