Pelipe wrote:I wonder if he is a compassionate man?"I wonder how a debate on this question would play out amongst the characters if Ahto wasn't in the room, and they were relatively certain he would never know their opinions.
What would The Vixen and Wonky say to the newcomers?
It depends on how good a sport he is about the lederhosen drawing.
Serious answer: she would say he is. VV only saw one or two executions, and she was in a dark place herself when she assisted. Even then, how he handled the wayward Abadarian showed compassion. She may have learned there is a difference between vengeance and justice. (Maybe?)

Hey y'all, PaizoCon is this week, and I'm running a bunch of games starting this Friday. I'll try to keep posting throughout the convention, but I'll be even much slower than normal. Never fear, I will return once the convention has ended.
Thanks,
Dink

@DM Vayalan: Hope you don't mind me saying that Katrine had some leather scraps in her kit. I figure leatherworkers are like sewing enthusiasts, you never throw away leftover materials if they might be big enough to make something! My mom has a dresser and half a closet full of fabric and bits of trim.

Sounds good! That definitely makes sense.

Sorry y’all. I’ve been struck down by Con Crud (strange, given that it was virtual). I’ll hopefully attend to our game later today.
The Vermilion Vixen |
I almost forgot to post a reaction to the main plot. I had to react to Pelipe though. VV is too broken and overprotective to ignore certain things.
On a lighter note, in my head, “Uringen” sounds almost like “Ertigun” except for the middle consonant. If you’ve seen Carole & Tuesday, you know who Ertigun is. If you haven’t seen it and have Netflix, I highly recommend Carole & Tuesday. It’s a cute anime from the world of Cowboy Bebop, but focused on the music scene on Mars. It’s nonviolent and mostly kid-friendly despite the TV-MA rating (for language and smoking).

Ironically, this may be the first time I can legitimately use my +25 disguise bonus. Yet, both the Addy and VV avatars are the same PF character (Shelyn).
To the new players, the Shelyn face used for Addy was meant to be temporary—her look when she had a white wedding gown, and hair colored for Crystalhue.
—oh! Chronic illness? So sorry to hear this, Katrine!

Yeah, several of them in fact. I got stuck with a few Drawbacks at character generation. :P So if I don't post for a couple days, that's probably why. Don't worry though! I'll be fine (for a given value of fine) with a little time.

Folks, I think we are off the rails and way into the weeds.
We are going to Uringen. Not Mivon.
Could someone please remind me where the plot is? I think we are becoming endlessly and needlessly sidetracked here.
The Vermilion Vixen |
I think the plan is just to pass through, but since Pelipe entered the game shorty after her guards were killed by bandits, I think it makes sense for the character to write home.
I’m one of those people who just drives whatever way friends or the GPS says. (And wow I paid dearly on those 1998-2000 Canada trips, as I found out on my 2016-2018 trips. Like driving from point A to point C along the sides of an equilateral triangle, but my then-Canadian-friend thought the fastest way was past point B.) So I’m just assuming Mivon is a sensible direction for travel. I mean, yeah there are wilderness routes, but boggard hunters and other wild creatures seem to make random encounters a possibility that’s roughly as likely as meeting an assassin or politician’s aide on the street.
"Crack-jawed" Ahto Ulrych |
Mivon is on the way to Uringen. Unless something weird happens, we should just pass through without stopping and be on the way to Glowerhaven and the Strouds (which is also on the way to Uringen).
Wonky Prong, Jr |
Wonky specifically asked to go to Uringen.
There, Vixen - there’s your fellow PC asking to go to Uringen.
Wonky (and I) am not willing to spend time in Mivon.

My apologies. I intended Mivon to simply be a chance for the party to resupply and make any purchases you might need before continuing onward.

My understanding (which could be wrong) is that we are going to Uringen, but Mivon is one of many places we pass through to get there. I think the party is in agreement with Wonky: we don’t want anyone to notice/acknowledge our presence, hence the helmets on Ahto and VV.
IC, Vixen and Pelipe are (theoretically) not slowing the party at all by riding ahead to the post office.
OoC, if you just want to speed up the narrative, I’d be fine with a GM post saying letters were sent, sweets were bought, and the party arrives at [place] by [time] of [day].

Maybe VV can restock rations while Pelipe picks out sweets and dog treats.
Pelipe Lightdriver |
I agree with VV. The whole point of Pelipe going off was to -not- delay the party. After so many days in the wild, I don't think it's unreasonable to restock all supplies and or even stay the night in a nice bed and have a hot bath. Pelipe didn't argue this point and only wanted to let her parents know she was alive, all at the reasonable request of catching up and not slowing the party by moving straight through town. No one should even know they were there. All in all, Pelipe's business would only take maybe 15 minutes and they would be riding to catch up on the outskirts. Then off to Glowerhaven and the Strouds :)
Wonky Prong, Jr |
I'm sorry; I didn't recognise that Pelipe hailed from Mivon.
Still, Wonky is going to suggest that we move on from Mivon as rapidly as can be managed.
Pelipe Lightdriver |
She isn't from Mivon. She's sending a letter from Mivon to home.
The Vermilion Vixen |
The Vixen could easily relate to the need to write home to tell parents she’s still alive. I know I did that shortly after joining the party. Like Pelipe, within days (I think).
Hence, she was backing up what she saw as necessary while at the same time, voted against delaying the trip. (Also due to a parental concern: Wonky’s investigation into a potential cure for her father.)

I drew the Vixen today, though not how she appears in this game.
The thinking (unrelated to PF) that I haven’t tried to draw yet is that VV would be wrapped in red (vermilion red) fabrics. They would be her source of power, they would take bullets for her, they would be grappling hooks and tentacles that choke out foes. (To subdue, ideally, not kill.) But mostly I was just trying to keep up a more cartoony look lately. I drew my Starfinder character earlier this week.
Pelipe Lightdriver |
I enjoy it!
The Vermilion Vixen |
Come to think of it, I can actually use some of the powers in my head thanks to some new vigilante talents and some simple items.
Next level, prepare for the Vixen to be uniquely magical! (I have a 20-level plan in place, but the new Vigilante Talent is super cool! I will immediately ditch the plan because it’s that good. It gets even better if we play to lv.12+.

Great art, as always!
Unfortunately, I now kind of want to find a way to give your Starfinder character a cameo.

Whether you’re kidding or not, here’s the character. She’s a Solarian, but the catch is that every character gets a superpower. Hers is to shrink to subatomic size. The drawing is before she had her super powers—her day job is she’s a super model.
If you read the game, we just got to the 100th page! Page 23 is the beginning of the third episode, which is a fun read.
If you read Nissa’s profile, Addy/VV is briefly mentioned in the backstory. (Addison Lane is a fashionista from Harvard, MA. Nissa doesn’t know Addy is the Vermilion Vixen.)

Well, *if* VV has a kick that can bust a witch-burning stake, I just rolled it. There was a point to that, but I should wait for GM confirmation regarding what happened before I post more.
The Vermilion Vixen |
I set up my first recruitment thread since twenty-somethingteen! Feel free to peek!
The Vermilion Vixen |
I’ll wait for a GM post confirming VV can make the arrest.
I’ll post that action, and gladly have her available to help Pelipe catch the blighted gnome. Blighted or not, bearing false witness… not cool!
The Vermilion Vixen |
@Katrine,
Have you told us in-game that you hag mother disguised as your father’s wife?
I know I read that, but I read your profile before you joined the game, so I can’t remember if this is also IC knowledge, or just OoC.

With that perception check, VV might get Lost in the Woods.

Hmmm...for linking the Weezer cover rather than the film version by Jonathan Groff, the Vixen may have to take 2d6 radiant damage. lol.

Weird Al did a video for Weezer’s Africa cover. This was 2018; he was 60.

It’s apparently not my first time in forev 2021.
I was just using a search to see if my SF character recorded a conversation, and when I found the post, I scrolled up a bit. Note the name of my (Nissa’s) bluff check!

To redeem myself, I sang a Jonathan Groff song at my wife’s office party karaoke. I was the finale, singing You’ll Be Back.

Oh, this reminds me—Love Is An Open Door was *attempted* by two brave souls. No I was not one of them. Hamilton was my only risk. My other picks were nerd-rock: Devo’s Beautiful World and Talking Heads’ Psycho Killer.

I regret that, when characterizing the Stroud Sisters, the idea to draw inspiration from the Sanderson Sisters from Hocus Pocus came to mind a little too late. While I ended up making Elspeth analogous to Sarah Jessica Parker's character, I regret not adding more Bette Midler and Kathy Najimy details to the other two.
