Ahto was up to approx 20/36, then cast a few healing spells. The first one would have maxed him to 36/36. The second and third, I'm not sure who those are for. Pelipe is down -10hp, and Katrine is -5. I can't be sure about the dogs.

I don't know if anyone else is earning a feat this level, but I get a bonus TEAMWORK feat. I don't know if anyone's interested in taking one.

I am toying with a few, and will happily take suggestions, but two that already look appealing are: Blood for the Empire, and Bonded Mind.

I have to take one, as it is the feat my class grants. Until at least one other person takes it, though, it's sort of useless.

In one of my other PbPs, the whole party took Shake it Off, which grants a nice bonus to saves. It has been a life-saver several times.

Bonded Mind basically allows telepathic conversation to all possessors of the feat within sight of each other. That can be really useful when coordinating an attack, or negotiating with a foreign dignitary.

I don't want to pressure anyone to take a Teamwork feat. It's a bonus feat for me, but not for you all. If any of you want to use a future feat slot to buy-in, that works. Just let me know which one you'd be most likely to go with so I can go ahead and pick it up now.

I just took another look at Inquisitor, since I've never had the chance to play one to 6th level. Ahto, aren't you a Sin Eater? The SRD says you get Speak With Dead instead of a teamwork feat at 6th level.

I like that scene as a capstone to the victory in combat and the subsequent level up - Ahto gets to judge Nithra’s soul via speak with dead. Very apropos.

Wonky would’ve been interested in Bonded Mind as a teamwork feat, but still woo-hoo! 6th level! Decisions, decisions…

GM, can I ask a query about Doo-dad?

Sprocket is my animal companion and levels up appropriately, but Doo-dad.....well, is there any benevolent level up for Doo-dad from his single hit dice to a 2 HD animal?

Lastly, Wonky is taking a second level in Hunter that gives her a bonus feat. I have two choices: Precise Shot (not requiring any prereqs) or Outflank. Outflank isn't very useful to Wonky as she doesn't engage in hand-to-hand if she can help it, but the bonus feat specifically says that Outflank (if chosen) gets applied to any animal companion(s) as well.

Outflank would be super useful for BOTH Sprocket and Doo-dad to have, and I could see them starting to hunt and attack as a pack together. In short, could Wonky take Outflank and have it affect both Sprocket and Doo-dad?

I know; I ask for a lot.

@Wonky: I am amenable to allowing Doo-dad to advance. I just need to figure out a fair mechanical way to make it happen. This also reminds me our past discussions of advancing Sprocket, potentially giving him the Fey Animal template.

I liked your suggestion about using the Research rules in Uringen to explore treatments for the Bleaching. I'm thinking that the reward (or at least unanticipated outcome) for the successful research will be Sprocket and Doo-dad gaining the Fey Animal or Fey Touched templates.

Of course, if Wonky were to have them both as animal companions, something needs to be exchanged...

I would be happy with Sprocket remaining as an Animal Companion and Doo-dad instead getting the Fey Animal template. Fey-Touched wouldn't be so useful, as most of the benefits of that don't kick in until HD 5 or greater (and Doo-dad is only HD 2, though I am grateful, GM).

I was actually thinking of using the Research rules to figure out the wooden magical thing powering the portal to the First World, but yes, the Bleaching would also be an excellent target for Research.

Regardless, that helps me choose between Outflank and Precise Shot for my bonus Hunter feat for Wonky. I will go with Precise Shot - it makes perfect sense for Wonky to try to avoid her allies with her stonebow shots.

I will apply a second HD to Doo-dad and await your thoughts on how to Research, both in the short term (the wooden thing) and the long term (Bleaching). Cheers!

You could always advance him on a slower track, such as some classes granting an animal companion with a -4 level penalty. That way he does get better, but nowhere near what Sprocket would get.

So without any of the other stuff identified, we have ~10k of loot here. Sell price I factored 5,208gp 9sp. I'm not sure how you all split your loot. Do you retain some for build points or Ahto being the leader, or we split it evenly among the NPCs traveling with us? In any case that's the total number so far if we sold everything.

I'd imagine the remaining items to be identified won't be worth much, unless the strange book is a spellbook (please o please) and the knife from the hole is magical.

The potion shouldn't be difficult to manage given its size, and if I remember correctly in 1e, all wondrous items (like those bracers) automatically re-size for the size of the creature using them.

The bolts wouldn't be useful, and the wands would be a challenge to use, but not too much of a challenge for someone small-sized....

Wonky would be interested in either of the two wands, and I'm willing to roll off with anyone for them.

VV has combat reflexes and shield of blades, meaning when I power attack I add AC (same as power attack penalty).

I'm fine with whoever can use the items we find keeping them. The only thing Katrine can use is the potion, but I think one of our melee fighters should get that. She has a lot of range on her composite longbow as well as the healstick.

Just as a heads up, my real life suddenly got complicated. My cat Missy May was just diagnosed with terminal cancer. She has approximately 1-3 months to live. So yeah, I'm a mess, she's been part of my life for 11 years and helped me through some very dark times. Sweetest and most affectionate cat I've ever known. Distraction helps right now, hence why I'm on the forums, but if I don't post for a day or two that's probably why.

This discussion about and research into the treant's heart and the fey energy it radiates reminds me of something I recall reading. Back in the day, I think they used special sun lamps to combat vitamin D deficiency in regions that didn't get much sunlight. I remember seeing a black-and-white photo accompanying an article, showing a bunch of kids standing in a circle around a big, round sun lamp as a treatment session.

Also, so it doesn't get forgotten, when returning to Spry's Heart to conduct research, remember that Nithra tossed a hunter's fey-bane dagger into the latrine. He thought it was amusing to have his prisoners frequently heaping more waste onto his defeated enemy's weapon.
