Gimble wrote:"We need to get Ameiko out of here," Gimble says to Rogar and Torillan. "Can you channel any more of Torag's blessings? he asks the dwarf priest."I've got one more lad!" Rogar says grabbing his holy symbol, he prays to Torag.
Channel Positive Energy:1d6
Finally!
Ameiko groans and manages a weak smile as Torillan starts to lift her up.
"I knew you'd come." She manages to whisper, "It's Tsuto, he's gone crazy...he murdered father...and...and..." Her tears are interrupted by the pain as she winces and stiffens. After a moment she regains her composure and a fierce look comes over her.
"Give me a dagger and leave me here. You have to stop him...any way you can. He is no longer my brother." She grimaces. "Come back and get me when he's dead."

Perception 1d20
Old Guy DM, I had a thought. I think rolling for Initiative and Perception checks are really slowing down the posting. What if you rolled them for us and posted the info in a spoiler box? I think it would really speed things along.
I can certainly do that if the majority are in agreement. Gamers like to roll their dice...even virtual ones, so I didn't want to step on that. But lets try it for this next bit and see how it goes, then we can decide.

I'm down with it, it does improve the speed of a PBP.
Rogar Hammergun |
"Give me a dagger and leave me here. You have to stop him...any way you can. He is no longer my brother." She grimaces. "Come back and get me when he's dead."
Rogar looks to Torillan and Gimble, his eyes saying what do you think?
I'm down with the GM rolling too. Chances are with my rolls lately it may work out better!
Torillan Ellandilas |

I'm OK with it, too. May help centralize things a bit. Lets do a trial run?

Torillan pauses for a moment, looks at both Rogar and Gimble in turn, then sighs. He quickly scans the corridor, looking for a suitable hiding place for her. Once found, he gently lays her down, her back against the wall.
"Alright. Take this", he says as he draws a dagger from his belt. "I've don't doubt that you know how to use this, but don't go looking for trouble. Stay here, and I promise that we'll be back". He smiles grimly.
Standing up, and taking his shield, Torillan looks at Rogar and Gimble.
"Lets go, lads. We need to find the others".
Gimble Boddynock |
I'm all for Old Guy GM rolling initiatives and perception checks - I'm in other PbP's where the DM's do this, and it does speed things along.
Gimble shares a concerned look with Torillan and Rogar, and then turns to Ameiko. "Are you sure you don't want at least one of us to stay here with you, or help you get to Father Zantus?" he asks her.
Seeing the determined look on Ameiko's face, he relents. "Alright, we'll go. But we'll be back as quickly as we can," he adds before turning to hurry after his companions.

Some technical difficulties, but onward we go!
For Gimble, Torillan, and Rogar
Okay, will get you 3 in init order after the first round for the others. State what your intent is.
For Khalad, Sebastian, and Yelena
Suddenly, a wicked looking creature lunges out of the darkness and strikes at Khalad, narrowly missing his face with its claw! A second of the vile things follows, this time gouging Yelena across the shoulder, leaving a bloody trail. Instantly, Yelena emits a low growl from deep within, causing Khalad and Sebastian to turn and eye her with concern. Her face is contorted with rage, and a froth begins to build on her lip as she trembles.
Old Guy GM |
GM, don't know what we're supposed to do with that information. Was that a surpise round? Is it our turn? We rolling initiative? You rolling it? What?
Thats because I've had a frustrating time posting anything to this site for the last week. Takes me 3 or 4 tries to preview, post, etc. I get "Cannot display the webpage" messages, but I don't have any connection problems. Can't seem to make it better either. So I'll live with it. Just got fed up yesterday. Sorry.
Old Guy GM |
So here we go...again. And again, my apologies to everyone.
That was the surprise round. Getting eveything set here.
Round 1
Sebastian 19: Ready
Sinspawn 17: Very angry and very nasty
Yelena 14: ????
Khalad 11: Ready
Yelena
Sebastian Creed |
GM, wasn't trying to be derisive, just confused, hope you didn't take it like that!
Anyway, Creed will take a 5' step back and shoot the nearest spawn (with Rapid-shot at -4 penalty, as he does not have Precise shot).
Attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Khalad Orlon |
@GM: Actually that's been happening to me alot too, download Lazarus so at least you won't lose the post when it messes up. I thought it was just me, that's kind of worrying.
Change my attack to the nearest enemy instead. The one directly south of Khalad. If possible!
Old Guy GM |
Round 1 Summation
Sebastian slides backwards, his bow singing a deadly tune. One arrow crashes against the stone wall, ricocheting into the darkness. The second embeds itself in the creature with a meaty thud.
Khalad's axe carves a wicked gash across the wounded creature's chest, blood and flesh spattering the wall behind him. The creature opens its hideous maw for a scream of rage, but only a frothing pink foam comes out as it slumps to the floor.
The other rakes Khalad with both claws, drawing blood from the barbarian's mighty arms. 6 pts
Khalad
Round 2
Sebastian 19: Ready
Sinspawn 17: Very angry and very nasty
Yelena 14: ????
Khalad 11: Wounded
Rogar 10: Ready
Gimble 9: Ready

I learned a lesson from some of the old hands here...ctrl C is your friend! Its just frustrating when you have to submit three or four times.
Sebastian Creed |
Creed, realizing he has no angle to fire, will move to Y5, drawing his bastard sword and dropping his bow, incurring an AoO as he moves from X3 to Y4 (Famous last words...I know!). If he makes it there safely, then he will strike with sword with a flank and sneak attack.
GM, let me know what happens with AoO so I can proceed with my action.

Gimble Boddynock |
Gimble eyes Yelena with concern as he moves toward the battle (10 ft move to Y-1).
Seeing the foul creature that his companions are battling, the gnome wizard makes a mystical gesture while shouting, "Ardourad-nen!" A small orb of sizzling green liquid explodes from his hand and flies toward the creature.
Attack Roll: 1d20 - 4 + 4 ⇒ (4) - 4 + 4 = 4 (includes -4 penalty for firing into melee)
Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 3
