Male Human Rogue 1/Fighter 1

As I approached the building, did I see if the roof had a stairwell or skylight? Also, what kind of surface is the wall, i.e. for a Climb check, if I were so inclined? Thanks!

'Well, we are the deputies, so guards aren't a problem. I can probably kick the door open.'

Male Human Rogue 1/Fighter 1

"Whoa, big guy, why lose the element of surprise?", Creed says in a whisper. "Well for their safety, as deputies, can't one of you ask the onlookers to leave the scene? I don't want them screaming "Guard, Guards, someone is breaking into the Glassworks", alerting any perpetrators inside."

Male Dwarf Cleric of Torag 2

Rogar steps out into the streets and says to the onlookers, "Please everyone get back, official business here!"

Assuming that the people recognize me as a deputy.

Old Guy GM:
Diplomacy Check: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17

Yelena sighs, "Or we could just take the simple route and peek through a window."

Covered this, windows shuttered and barred.

Rogar Hammergun wrote:

** spoiler omitted **

The Glassworks is building #20 on the Sandpoint map.

The people out on the street stop to look at Rogar. A group walking north up Glass Street from the docks stops to whisper amongst themselves.

"Official business?"
"Must be serious..."
"Wonder w'as up..."

A second group on Sand Street halts for a second, steps to the side, then begins to edge forward to get a better look. Within a minute or two, several people lean out from their windows along Glass and Sand streets, hoping to learn what the buzz is about.

One man, shovel in hand, steps up to Khalad.
'Don' worry lad. Ol' Bergin has yer back! I'm with yas!' He says with a grimace as he stands behind you.

Must have missed that one about the windows! :)

Yelena smiles at the older gentleman's efforts, "Mr. Bergin, we appreciate your enthusiasm. While your courage is formidable, your shovel, however, may be prove ineffective against what we may face inside. Could you help us in another way? Could you go find the Mayor and let her know that something is fishy in the Glassworks? It would really help us out and do something that we cannot do right now."

Turning back to the group, "If all of the windows and doors are barred, then we need to gain entrance. While normally I would be willing to follow protocol and wait for authorization, we have reason to believe Ameiko has been kidnapped. Time is of the essence. Khalad, I want that front door open."

Male Human Rogue 1/Fighter 1

As Rogar addresses the people and starts to chat with them, Creed takes advantage of the distraction, removes a lockpick from his belt pouch, and goes to work on the door.

Disable Device: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22

Oops, just realized I did not purchase thieves' tools for Creed, so he gets -2 to the roll (will buy them first thing), so it's really a 20. Hopefully that's enough!

Khalad stands behind Creed, grinning widely. If Sebastian doesn't open the door, Khalad is going to break it in.

1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

If he fails, he rages and tries again.

1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7

EDIT: What the Hell!?

After failing miserably twice, Khalad takes his axe to the door. Now livid with rage.

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21 vs. AC 3 (inanimate Medium object)
1d12 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22

Gimble stands silently behind Sebastian and Khalad, ready to unleash spells upon any miscreants behind the door.

Torillan follows the others, drawing his sword. He winces as Khalad unleashes on the door.

'M'am! Yes M'am! says Bergin, snapping to attention and dropping his shovel. As he bends down to pick it up, his trousers fall a bit, forcing him to reach behind his waist and pull them up. This of course causes him to drop the shovel again. Finally, he gets himself together, snaps off a crude salute (loosening the shovel again, which Yelena manages to catch before it hits her), and runs off to find Mayor Deverin.

Yelena has a very nice shovel to add to her sheet if she wishes.

Fortunately for the door, and for Khalad's pride, the lock clicks, and the door swings open.

No rage used, or manhood crushed

The room inside is dark, but you can see a little from the ambient evening light. This is obviously a reception area , where prospective buyers might await a representative to discuss business. The room has a desk in the center, with two chairs on the side facing you, and a single chair on the "business" side. There are several displays of glassworks about the room, some in cases, some on pedestals. A door behind the desk leads deeper into the Glassworks.

The roar of the furnace is obvious from this room, although it must be loud indeed to be heard through the door. The most alarming thing you notice is the breaking of glass, followed by a high-pitched cackle that has become all too familiar...

Goblins!

'For Honor!'

Khalad runs to the door behind the desk and opens it, brandishing his axe.

I'm no good with doors, but lets see if I can't break some goblins!

Gimble retrieves a piece of cured leather from his spell component pouch. ”Curu-rynii,” he intones as he makes a mystical gesture. Just for an instant, the air around his body wavers, like heat shimmers on a summer’s day. Cast mage armor – Gimble now has AC 17 for the next hour.

After casting his spells, Gimble follows the others into the depths of the Glassworks.

'Damn fool!' mutters Torillan under his breath, running after Khalad. 'Khalad, wait!' he says in a low voice as he catches up with the boy. 'Lets wait for the others to surprise them...'

Male Human Rogue 1/Fighter 1

Impressed with his lockpicking skill, Creed puts the improvised pick back in his belt pouch. He mutters under his breath, as he nocks an arrow in his bow and moves to door, "This Khalad is as silent as rolling thunder!"

Male Dwarf Cleric of Torag 2

If Khalad rushes in then Rogar will follow behind, although a little more cautiously. If Khalad pauses to listen to Torillan then I will wait and see what Toriallan has in mind.

"Remember, gentlemen! This is a legitimate business, not an abandoned dungeon!"

Yelena cracks her knuckles and follows behind, shovel in hand.

Shovel added to sheet.

lol. The treasure just keeps rollin' in.

Khalad Orlon wrote:

Khalad runs to the door behind the desk and opens it, brandishing his axe.

Khalad yanks open the door to reveal...

...a hallway. The noise of the furnaces is even louder in the hall, and the glow of their fires can be seen limning a set of double doors directly across from where he stands.

The volume of the goblin-cackling seems to increase here, a chaotic gaggle of laughs, snorts, yelling, and singing. Worse still, the smell of burnt flesh is heavy in the air of the hallway.

Male Human Rogue 1/Fighter 1

Creed whispers and looks at Khalad while he speaks, "Let me check it out, if you don't mind." He approaches the door, using the light of the furnaces and then tries to open it and slip in quietly.

Don't know if you need 1-2 stealth checks so I'll do 2

1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23

Just wait until I have it enchanted. :)

Yelena peers ahead and whispers caution, "Let Mr. Creed move ahead. If there are goblins in the next room, we can surprise them and end the battle decisively. Just give us a thumbs up or down."

Khalad sighes, then grips his axe and gets ready to charge as soon as Creed's thumb so much as twitches.

He whispers back to his companions, 'What's a bigger, more decisive surprise than my axe in your face?'

Rogar readies his warhammer as he whispers to Khalad 'I'm with you lad!!'

Rogar Hammergun wrote:

'Trust a dwarf to talk sense!'

Torillan, caught up in the "tenseness" of the moment, quietly hefts his shield and tightens his grip on his sword. While itching for a brawl, he can't help but marvel at the rashness of Khalad and his youth...

Sebastian opens the door silently to peer inside. As it opens, the roar of the furnace hits you full on. The glass-making area is large, approximately 30' wide and 100' long.

Looking down the length of it, you can see the room is something straight out of some hellish Chelaxian stage production. The only light in the room is from the furnaces to your left, and the scene they paint is gruesome. Several bodies lie on the floor in various states of dismemberment, while goblins pour molten glass over them. Broken glass covers the floor, making footing treacherous at best. firelight reflects off of the glass pieces around the room, creating a bizarre effect that makes it difficult to focus on an object.

Caught on the edge of the firelight, about midway across the room, a large slag-pile of glass covers something that was once sitting in a chair.

You have surprise. That gives you one action each. I will need initiative checks. Encounter map to follow shortly.

Gimble's Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19

Surprise Round: Gimble retrieves a bit of fleece from his component pouch. "Gwiilb-iimarii," he intones while making a mystical gesture. Within the furnace area, the flames from the furnaces seem to coalesce into a huge, vaguely draconic shape which looms threateningly above the scurrying goblins, swiping at the puny creatures with its flaming claws.

Gimble casts Silent Image to further distract and sow chaos among the goblins: Will Save DC 17 to disbelieve if interacted with. The illusion is a visual figment that cannot extend beyond six 10-ft cubes. Duration = Concentration plus 1 round (the spell is extended by 1 round after concentration ends due to the Illusion school power of Extended Illusion).

Male Dwarf Cleric of Torag 2

Initiative:1d20 ⇒ 15

Surprise round: Brandishing his symbol to Torag, Rogar blesses the party.

Initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Surprise Round: Khalad uses his surprise round to move into the room with the goblins. I'll specify when I get the map.

Male Human Rogue 1/Fighter 1

Initiative: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28

1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25

Yelena casts daze on the second goblin she sees (Will DC 15), knowing that the first goblin will probably be eviscerated by her companions.

Encounter Map here. Just need Tor's initiative roll. You will be entering through the doors at the south end, Row AC, Column 16 or 17.

Note: Gimble will be casting his spell from outside the doorway and behind at least two of the other party members (probably from Row AE).

I target goblin X16. How big is the opening of that furnace? I'm thinking bullrush from Khalad.

Male Human Rogue 1/Fighter 1

Sweet map!

Surprise round: Creed will shoot the flatfooted goblin in Z16. Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26; Damage: 1d8 + 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (7) + (3) + 2 = 12

Initiative:

1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

Ok, sorry all. PC issues, kept me out of it 'til this morning.

Surprise Round so far...

Sebastian steps into the doorway and fires an arrow, the shaft embedding itself deep in the goblin's abdomen. Looking down quizzically, he slumps to the floor, never knowing how he suddenly grew an arrow from his gut.

The next goblin in Y18 looks over at his dead compatriot, then up at the doors, just time to catch Yelena's daze. His jaw hangs slack, and his arms hang limp at his sides.

The rest of the goblins take a step back and draw their dogslicers as the image of a dragon swipes at them.

Note: The 3 goblins in the back with the red borders are carrying long tongs with ceramic jars of molten glass.

Note 2: Though not on the map, you all will enter from squares AD 16 and 17.

Note 3: Still need actions from the rest. Initiative:

Creed 28: shot arrow
Yelena 25: cast daze
Gimble 19: cast silent image
Rogar 15: ?
Torillan: ?
Khalad: ?

Khalad is moving to the nearest available goblin, be that X15 or X16.

In the surprise round Rogar blessed the party, using the Bless spell. Internet giving me issues this morning, map isn't showing up, so Rogar will move to the closest goblin and swing away.

Actions:
Attack:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
This includes the plus 1 for bless and the plus 1 for goblinoid.
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Action for Surprise round:

Torillan will advance to square Z18 to engage the goblin in Y18

Glassworks Round One:

Encounter Map Here

Creed 28: bless
Yelena 25: bless
Gimble 19: bless
Rogar 15: bless, moved up to AA16
Goblins 14
Torillan 10: bless, engaged with goblin
Khalad 3: bless, engaged with 2 goblns

Sorry Rogar, I missed that bless. Khalad, the square you are in is covered in glass shards. I need a Acrobatics DC 10 (or Dex DC 15)roll to stay on your feet.

The goblins recover quickly from their fright. One in the back begins to yell 'It's them longshanks! Get 'em!' The rest move and duck the image's claws in an attempt to get away from it.

Male Human Rogue 1/Fighter 1

Creed moves with the speed of a panther to AA17 and then shoots the gobin directly in front of him at U17 before the goblin can react (still flatfooted).

"Feel my arrows of death, foul goblins!", says Creed smiling, as he aims carefully and lets loose a black-feathered arrow.

Attack within point blank range and bless: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27; Damage: 1d8 + 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + (3) + 2 = 9

Yelena continues casting with cold, indifferent focus. She casts daze on the goblin in square V18 (Will DC 15), then moves to square AA19.

Round 1:

Attack goblin in square Y18
Attack roll: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
Damage roll: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

Male Dwarf Cleric of Torag 2

Actions:
With a fierce smile on his face, Rogar heads to the next goblin. 'I like smashin' goblins!!'

Rogar moves to Y15 and attacks the goblin at X15

Attack with Warhammer:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 251d8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Critical Threat roll:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
If that hits damage with critcal would be 8!

Acrobatics
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18

Grinning widely, with glass crushing underfoot, Khalad brings his axe down on goblin X16.

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
1d12 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17

Seeing that his companions have matters well in hand, Gimble ceases concentrating on his illusion and moves further into the room (to square AA18). The wary gnome looks carefully around the room, looking for any hidden assailants.

Perception Check: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
