Alexis bursts through the door and sends shards of wood into the room. Once she steps in, she is hit with the wave of stench from the inhabitants of the room.

A brazier of glowing coals sits in the center of this room, ist acrid smoke mixing with the ever-present troglodyte stench. A few knives, pokers, and other metal implements lie atop a rusty iron box nearby.

You see another troglodyte standing in front of a wooden door on the other side of the room. When he sees you entering the room he gets ready to attack you.

My name is Balenar Forsend, I'm a Pathfinder from Absalom. Could you please unlock the manacles? he whispers with a dry throat. I came here to search the fortress for rare things for the Society but the troglodytes cought me. Did it happen that you've found my stuff? It's a shortbow, a rapier, a buckler, my studded leather armour and of course my wayfinder. The troglodytes took it away. Did the Pathfinder Society send you to rescue me? I really can't believe you killed the troglodytes in this fortress. Did you also kill the boss? A big one, the smaller troglodytes call him Tasskar, with a crocodile familiar.

Willow extracts her waterskin from her pack and offers the man a drink. "We found your things in the next room, and of course the Society wanted to find out what had happened to you. We'll get you out of here," she reassures him. A frown passes over her face as she considers his last words.

"We haven't run into anything that sounds like this Tasskar yet. It you feel you can manage the stairs, it should be safe below if you want to wait for us, unless you can handle the climb from the first level as well." She considers his bruises with a compassionate eye. "Let's see if we can get you out of those, at least." Taking the key to the room from Saleem, she tries it in the manacles' lock and grins as the key turns and the chains fall open.

Thank you he says after taking some gulps from the water skin. I'm afraid I can't come with you, I have to make sure Tasskar is not sacrificing humans to his dark god any more. I think he's on the upper level. If you want to help me I'd be more than happy. If not I'm going alone. If I'm not returning maybe a bard will sing a song about me one time. He gets out of his prison into the other room, takes his weapons and armour and steps into the staircase.

Willow grabs the man’s arm as he babbles his reckless plans and fits on his armour. She speaks firmly and with pointed emphasis, “I said we hadn’t run into Tasskar yet. We haven’t finished exploring, and if you think anyone’s in imminent danger we’ll hurry through any empty rooms for now, but no one is going haring off on their own to get themselves killed. We don’t have a healer, and one of us has already had a javelin glance off his ribs. You should stay with us.”

She looks to the others for a decision. “Shall we quickly check the other side of this floor, or just head upstairs?”

Balenar looks around. He can see that Saleem is injured. Please excuse me being hotheaded. I was imprisoned for a long time now and I saw my end coming closer every day. My situation was hopeless.

He casts cure light wounds on Saleem.

Fluff:
A former servant of the cruel Jade Regent, Kaede joined the Pathfinder Society to atone for atrocities committed under his command. She works for the Andoran faction as a way of furthering this atonement. Perhaps when no man looks down on another, she will finally feel as if she can rest.

She lives in Absalom.

I decided to go "dustjacket biography" for this one. Since this is just a module, I figure I don't need Kaede to be too detailed upfront. I'll discover her character through play.

If, of course, that's okay with the GM.
