GM Baerlie |
Judging from the shelves lining the walls, this darkened room might once have been a storeroom, though its contents have long since succumbed to the passage of time. A crack in the northern wall has apparently let in some rainwater, which has collected in a large puddle on the floor.
Shin steps into the room, he can see several puddles near the outside wall on the opposite side. Between the puddles lies a shocker lizards. It eagerly approaches anyone entering the room, hoping for a handout, but in its excited state, it shocks anyone within range.
Saleem Magmum |
"What?" Saleem exclaims.
Saleem Magmum |
Saleem digs into his bag and throws out a day worth of ration.
Natsume Shin |
Quietly, Shin says"Lets hug the wall and move to the next door."
perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10Trying to notice any other surprises.
After glancing around, tries to keep away from the lizard and skirts the room to the door. Will wait for everyone to catch up.
Kaede Kashinaga |
Kaede moves to the door in Room 3 and presses her ear up against it.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Sorry, I'm on a tablet, so i can't move my token right now.
GM Baerlie |
I will do perception checks for you to save some time:
Perception Saleem: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (9) - 1 = 8
Perception Willow: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Perception Kaede: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Perception Alexis: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Perception Tûrak: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
Perception Shin: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
makes a total of 28
Saleem Magmum |
Saleem sighs in relief when the lizard takes his offering and doesn't disturb them anymore. He steps up and prepares for trouble though.
Tûrak Kavendarth |
'Can we go?'
Tasarë "Willow" Solaera |
Willow looks through the door, and out through the shattered wall over the view beyond. She glances at where the floor drops away and then up to the floors exposed above. Shaking her head, she says, "That doesn't look like a climb I'd like to risk. Even if we could get a rope up there, I'm not sure how secure the stones at the edge are. Back to the stairs, I think."
GM Baerlie |
Alexis did not post for several days now, I already wrote her a PM, I will move her token until she's back.
The door from the central stairway to this room is locked (DC 25 Disable Device to open, key is somewhere in the tower). The way up to the fourth floor is open.
Saleem Magmum |
"Another locked door?" Saleem exclaims with some disgust.
Alexis V'eron |
Sorry about those few days all. I should be back to regular posting now.
Alexis moves in with the rest of the group. Thinking of their efforts to climb into the tower she says, "I agree, climbing up may not be the best way. "
Alexis makes sure she is out of the way so Kaede can get to the door.
Tûrak Kavendarth |
Tûrak went back to the troglodytes's room and search in their bodies for some key.
Tûrak Kavendarth |
Can we hit the door to break it?
Kaede Kashinaga |
In response to Saleem's comment, Kaede teases, "But of course. Would you leave the doors unlocked in your impenetrable deathtrap?"
With that, she begins to work on the door. "Now then, I must concentrate, yes?"
Kaede will take 20, obv.
GM Baerlie |
Two stone altars, one black and one white, sit at either end of this large chamber, which takes up two wings of the tower on this level. The crumbling remains of wooden benches sag in front of each altar beneath rotting ceiling tapestries. Carved symbols and writings snake along the walls. The burnt corpses of two troglodytes lie on the floor in the center of the room.
Tasarë "Willow" Solaera |
Once Kaede unlocks the door and lets it quietly swing open, Willow peeks in around the doorframe. Know (relg.): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16 Taking in the wall carvings and the dead troglodytes, she pronounces, "It looks like a chapel to Nethys. I wonder what happened that those poor things were just left here - could they have triggered a trap? Proving the god's point about the destructive power of magic?"
She steps carefully into the room, bow at the ready.
Saleem Magmum |
"No, I'd rather they didn't even find the doors and I'd keep them invisible." is Saleem's rejoinder to Kaede even as he follows the rest with a slight smile.
"It looks more impressive to be seen walking into a tower with no visible doors."
GM Baerlie |
You can hear a strange noise in the dark parts of the room. Suddenly you see two burning skeletons rising from the stone floor next to the southern altar.

Round 1
Once the skeletons show themselves...
know(religion): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10 The extra knowledge roll is to see if anything would be revealed about the skeletons. Alexis is untrained so maximum effectiveness is DC10.
Alexis removes the scarf from around her neck and starts swinging it around in the air. Move action: draw weapon
Alexis begins to chant and readies a spell! Readied action: cast Disrupt undead (25', ranged touch attack) if one of the skeletons comes into range.
GM Baerlie |
Tûrak Kavendarth |
Tûrak will only move while fight defensively.
(fighting defensively –4 penalty on all attacks in a round to gain a +2 to AC until the start of your next turn)
Tasarë "Willow" Solaera |
Willow breaks across the room to clear the entrance, whipping off an arrow on the way. Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15 damage, possibly: 1d6 ⇒ 2 She looks around the corner of the archway into the other half of the room and gets ready for the skeletons to close.
Saleem Magmum |
"How droll....They like me are on fire too except I'm not all bones."
Saleem remarks as he fires off a dart of acid.
Acid Splash, ranged touch 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 121d3 ⇒ 3
GM Baerlie |
Saleem fires a dart of acid at one of the skeletons, he can see some rips melting. Alexis swings her scarf and waits for the skeletons to come closer. Tûrak moves in defensive position to protect himself from fire. Willow shoots an arrow at the Skeleton, but the arrow goes through it between the rips.

Free action...a quick shout.
Alexis shouts to her companions as she recalls something about the skeletons, "Be careful of getting near those skeletons! Their great heat can harm things that get too close. If you can use cold, it will hurt them more."
Tasarë "Willow" Solaera |
I think it might be a matter of choosing the right type of weapon, though like Alexis said, I'm not sure we want to get too close. Still, in Round 2 Willow will draw her morningstar and try to hold the skeletons off as necessary.
Good to know. I should redouble my efforts at my studies, once we get out of here, Willow thinks, hearing Alexis' warning.
Saleem Magmum |
"Ahh Cold. Something against what I usually have." laments Saleem.
Tûrak Kavendarth |
"What?!" Tûrak shouts, "Cold? Are you kidding me? Let's see if they can resist gunpowder!", while holding his hat with his free hand.
GM Baerlie |
Aren't skeletons immune or nearly immune to physical attacks? I ask because I'm wondering if I should attack them or fight defensively like Túrak.
The Skeletons have a damage reduction value of 5 except for bludgeoning weapons against physical attacks. If your damage is high enough you still deal damage.
Tûrak Kavendarth |
Pistol is B AND P so no DR for me, right?
Saleem Magmum |
Yes no DR for you. Your bullets deal both types of damage.
