He is not sure if the stability of the room is at risk, but does not tell the others knowing he wants these foul creatures dead.
As he crushes the incubation pods with blade and foot alike he asks of the others, "Should we ally ourselves with the kobolds or destroy them as well? I for one have never met a kobold that was not ready to kill me, eat a member of mine or be ready to plunge a dagger in my back once it was turned." he seems rather irritated about the memories.

Koldur of the Axe |

"I would like to end a kobold's life as well for they make unstable ground for foundations but We agreed to bring back their idol. Unlikely allies in strange places we should not ignore." Koldur cautions.

![]() |

"I understand both your points Koldur but understand that I will not be dealing with them and support whatever choice the three of you come to about the kobolds." he says in not the best of moods, spitting on another mite body as he continued to knock out the walls and destroy the bodies.

"I can work with that Oscar, I think I am fine, the potion I took was the last that I had but I believe it restored me completely." He responds to Oscar with.

Koldur of the Axe |

For a good measure, Koldur looks about for setting the whole place ablaze....
"We should just burn out this rat hole."

![]() |

"Agreed Koldur, but I would prefer if I were out of it before the flames were licking at my heels if not worse. This place is awfully wet." The elf says not wanting to put a damper on the dwarf's plan.

Xara Ozolins |

"Do you suppose the mite infestation led to the death of the great tree up above, or did the mites choose a dead tree as a site for their, whatever you call it, nest?"
Xara is quite eager and relieved to return to the surface. She heads over to tend to Raefan's injuries, seeing if there's healing to be had for her mount.

![]() |

"Who knows, some fey only protect nature as others just do what they want like humans. No offense Xara. What do you think Koldur, can we make it burn?" He says rather apathically, then apologizes to Xara with sincereity, finishing up with a few questioning words for Koldur.
K Engineering: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25 To figure out how to burn the place the best.
"We are going to need a lot more wood, do we spend the time collecting dead wood from the nearby trees or worry about it later? We could leave it for now and if the Mites do come back we can burn it then, also we could tell the kobolds about this place I am sure they might burn it for us." He schemes.

Koldur of the Axe |

Koldur considers the plan laid out by Sable.
"Sound enough, the kobolds might help us to do it but I get the feeling that it might be better if we do it instead." he considers before heading out to prepare enough firewood and oil if any.
"If the tree was alive, it might be protesting its usage as a site for such deeds, we're just putting it out of its misery." Koldur adds on as he passes Xara.

![]() |

"Sounds good, now that is decided, we will burn this place to the ground. I am glad we are decided." He says with some conviction following Koldur up to find more firewood.

GM Wolf |

By noon the next day the sycamore and the holes below it are ablaze and collapsing in on themselves.
The group rests and sleeps well that night. With plenty of individuals to keep watch there is no qualms about a threat coming at the group during the night. Nothing indeed happens for the night.
Koldur feels like his old 'new' self again, lacking the aches and pains. The oils and salves must be working. Sable on the other hand has new wounds now on the mend and is as achy as before a few complaints can be heard as he wakes up.

Xara Ozolins |

Are the evil kobolds still around, or did Oscar quietly dispatch them in the night?

Koldur of the Axe |

Koldur gratefully accepts the offer from Oscar and the night seems to do wonders for the aged dwarf.
Stretching out a few kinks in his old bones, Koldur first examines his equipment. A whetstone to test his axes sharpness though Moon's Edge needs no such maintenance as he discovers to his delight. His armor well oiled and still supple.
Keeping an eye on the rest of his companions to ensure himself of their relative own good health, he frowns slightly as he notices that Sable seems only slightly better.
Approaching him,
"You are well, my friend?"

![]() |

Smiling at the Dwarf, "My wounds are mended and my meditations have refreshed me from the excusions from the last night. Though I still ache from the fight with the vampire, I feel he took more than I expected. I will grow stronger again, in time."
Later as they watch their immense bonfire, "Shall we return the kobold's their idol and deal with them as needed then return to see what ravages the fire has done to the Mite's lair?"

Oscar Cray the III |

Yes that is what we said were were going to do Sable he says looking at the koblod

Koldur of the Axe |

Koldur winces...He'll take the fight with monsters or other tribes of mites anytime but the prospect of riding does not sit well with the aged dwarf as his aching behind can attest.

Xara Ozolins |

Relieved again to be in the air, Xara allows Reafan to take long, leisurely spirals as she scouts for trouble on the way back.

None of the kobolds waiting at the lair are evil.
No threats are seen on the path but many of the mite and kobold bodies can be seen along the way.
At the entrance to the kobold lair the chieftain and half a dozen other kobolds are with him.
"Welcame back tall folk, what news do you brong us, does the fire of the tree bade well for you and us?" The chieftain speaks in broken common the best he can.

Xara Ozolins |

Xara smiles at the kobold as Reafan alights on the ground.
In Draconic, she replies, "Thank you, sir. Yes, the distant fire is the remains of the mite nest burning to nothingness. We dispatched the mites, then penetrated their lair, cleared out all the young, and burned the infestation to the ground. Mites should no longer trouble you and your people."

Sable dismounts and nods his head in agreement with his allies, as he stretches not unlike the dwarf beside him from the hour ride.
"Here is your idol," The white haired elf says in a stern voice. He then pulls out the leather bag holding the idol and reveals it to the kobolds around him, not wanting to touch it himself he waits for one of the kobolds to come collect it.

GM Wolf |

Time out! Back up a bit... check out the spoilers, except the last one. Have some dialoge with each other and the new information, then we can get back to the kobold lair.
As the group begins to travel the kobold that is with them tells them, "My name is Mikmek, I was not with you before I was trapped by the mites and my kin rescued me. It is too bad none of them escaped the fight."
Later he continues as he asks about the statue, "Did you get the idol of Old Sharptooth?" He cheers that they have and lets slip, "Death to Tartuk!" Before clapping his hands over his snout.
On top of a nearby boulder higher above the lair the purple scaled kobold appears, yelling down to the rest of his kin, "Sootscale kobolds attack them at once for daring to defile Old Sharptooth with their soft, scaleless fingers!"
All the kobolds seem to jump to follow the orders of the purple kobold.

Sable nods, "I agree, should we make sure the shaman is not around when we give the idol to the chief?"

Xara Ozolins |

Xara flies above the clouds, blissfully ignorant of the conversation below.
Soaring, soaring, over the hills so green.
Ho! Beyond the distant rise, is that a water's sheen?

"Settle down there little one, if our Paladin senses they are evil they will no longer be needing to want, though the others we will parlay with." He says trying to settle the little beast.

Oscar Cray the III |

I was saying little one that is your shaman is really evil and i mean EVIL then he won't be around long enough to cause problems for the chief, who is ok by my standard, or any one else. he lets it sink in or any one one that have followed on the same path as him for that matters. But you Have nothing to fear from Me as you do not for the moment walk that dark path he says with a reassuring smile

Xara is good. I'm sure she does swing by at several points, but as Oscar seems to have things under control, she doesn't interfere.
