Xara Ozolins |

Xara does her usual, staying close to the group, but frequently flying up high for a bird's eye view of the surroundings.

GM Wolf |

As the group moves out Perrin calls after the group, "Did you not want some of my potions, or to buy any in the least?"
Once that is handled the group heads out and for the next three days it goes on slowly. Scrounging up vittles as you can along the way. Nothing of much importance or even to see besides the plains and the simple vegetation and animals along the way.
On the fourth day, you see a strange sight. One where there are webs in a cluster up ahead.

Koldur of the Axe |

Perception VS DC 20 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
"I would like a potion to make myself tougher or faster if you ahve any such for sale and if I have enough gold on me to purchase it from you."
Koldur asks the alchemist.
Potion of barkskin or haste?
Koldur spots the web but not its contents.
"Webs ahead. Anyone else has a better view?"

Xara Ozolins |

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
"Corpses amongst the webs," Xara calls out as she and Reafan land next to the party. "Some bones, others fresher. I'd guess maybe some over-sized spiders live here. We should be careful, maybe set the webs alight to flush them out, if it wouldn't start a forest fire."

Koldur of the Axe |

I'm assuming Potion of Barkskin +2 for 300gp. Half is 150gp right?

Oscar Cray the III |

anything evil in 60' radius?
if needed those we van can create water in order to control the direction of the fire if needed. But if those webs extend very long ... well i don't really know. I am all up for killing these giant spiders if it means protecting travellers from getting eaten.

Razaniel |

"Perhaps we should approcah and further scout the area to assess exactly how far these extend" - Razaniel suggests, unmounting and peering towards the distance.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
"I can't really make out much detail from this distance" - he adds - "What say you?"

Xara Ozolins |

Xara flies up to get an idea of how expansive the area of webs is.

GM Wolf |

That works Kodur, also please make an in game post with the OOC or make the OOC in game, like asking Perrin.
No evil auras Oscar.
The webs are close to the ground. You are in plains and only low shrubs are the vegetation in the area. It is a large area perhaps 200 feet by 200 feet. The webs are sporadic in the area.

Koldur of the Axe |

Just before seeing webs, Koldur will purchase the Potion from Perrin.
"I'll happily make that purchase Sirrah. Here is the payment for it. Should there be other potions available when I next drop by. I'll be more than happy to buy it off you, purse permitting of course. I'll see that this will be put to good use."
Back to the webs.
"Perhaps we should wait for Xara to scout and then report back. There's no telling how many spider we're speaking of, besides it might be good to clear out the webs and make this road safe again. Perrin's hunter might have fallen afoul of these critters."

Xara Ozolins |

Xara returns and reports on the expanse of the webbing.

Koldur of the Axe |

Koldur is abit shocked at the expanse of the webbing.
"What manner of spider or spiders are we talking about here? That's alot of webs!"

Koldur of the Axe |

Koldur grins and swings his axes, the sound of it slicing the air as if challenging the spiders already.
"I'm more than dwarf enough for any silly spider."

![]() |

Sable dismounts and brings his shimmering blade to bare. "Shall we go see if they want an elf for dinner? Also since these spiders cannot be seen it is likely that they are tunnelers, watch your feet."
He moves forward hoping the others come with him.

Koldur of the Axe |

With a short hop, for his bum is aching from riding so long. A dwarf and an elf heads towards the web. His axes out in his hands.

Xara Ozolins |

Xara leaves Reafan to guard the horses and follows the men on foot.

GM Wolf |

Xara Ozolins |

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
"Watch yourselves," Xara shouts, pointing. "They have tunnels and are coming from below, not the webs above. Koldur, let me make you stronger."
Xara pulls out her wand of enlarge person. She uses the start a full round action action to begin using it on Koldur, unless "act before combat commences" means she can do it all before we enter rounds.

Koldur of the Axe |

Perception 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Koldur stops at Xara's words.
"I don't see anything out of place....must be the hours spent on horseback...." He grumbles out the last.

GM Wolf |

Xara is able to enlarge Koldur before starting combat as she hurries forward to get to him.
Xara and Oscar what are your surprise round actions?
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4 Sable
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23 Koldur
1d20 ⇒ 3 Oscar

1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28 Spider
Surprise Round
Spider then Heroes
The spider rushes from its hole quicker than its size would show. It bites at Sable. It slips as two of its legs fall into the ground, likely holes. Provoking attacks of opportunity from Koldur and Sable. It recovers still in their faces.
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
Epically failing, 1d20 ⇒ 20
*Edited rolls, keeping with what they were. Natural 1 for the spider's attack.
Round 1
The spider retreats to its hole, not provoking AoOs.

Perception check: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
"Well friend, how about ravenback?" He chuckles and keeps his blade ready in front of him for spiders he does not see coming.

Xara Ozolins |

Xara will throw an acid splash at the thing in the surprise round.
Touch attack: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 - 4 = 12
Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 3

Great Sword: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 92d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 3) + 6 = 11
Everyone gather around. Let's protect each others

![]() |

Round 1
"Each other's backsides and frontsides and sides! Then we will be prepared for the spider once is springs out again." Sable says in response to Oscar, not mocking, just having a bit of fun with word play. He readies his sword to attack the spider should it spring out at him again.

Xara Ozolins |

Round 1. Xara uses her wand to make Oscar large.

Koldur of the Axe |

Koldur sighs.
"Ware your own sides. Fighting next to an axe wielder yields unpleasant results sometimes." Bringing up his own axes, stance defensive.

Round 1
Readied action to strike the spider as it charges at us.
Elven Courtblade: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24 damage: 2d8 + 7 ⇒ (3, 8) + 7 = 18

GM Wolf |

When the spider charges out of its hole, the paladin and elf both whack at it with their blades. Blood spurts everywhere from their strikes as a leg is taken off.
bite: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8 damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9 plus poison
The spider bites at Koldur missing again, then it retreats back to its hole.
Round 2... GO!

![]() |

Round 2
Readied action to strike the spider as it charges at us. Yet again! ;)
Elven Courtblade: 1d20 + 8 - 1 ⇒ (11) + 8 - 1 = 18 damage: 2d8 + 7 + 3 ⇒ (3, 4) + 7 + 3 = 17 with Power Attack
"It may charge us again, we will see. First it trips, then it loses a leg, next time it will likely loose its life." Sable says to keep himself ready as well as the others.

Xara Ozolins |

Xara readies a move action, to go stand between the spider and it's hole. The triggering action is the spider's actual attack, so she can move to cut off its retreat.

Koldur of the Axe |

"Ha! See? More than dwarf enough!!"
Koldur mocks the spide as he readies his own attack to strike the spider
Ready Attack to strike on Spider Charge 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 181d10 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14

Razaniel |

Razaniels peers around, his bow strung, and senses fully alert for any creature that may burrow from the underground.
Readied Shot: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11

GM Wolf |

As you all stand ready for the spider to spring forth once more it does not. Each of you are tense ready to act as you move closer to the trapdoor of the spider. The spider still does nothing as the group gets to the target.
who is willing to lift the trapdoor or take a different action, the readied actions to attack the springing spider still hold unless you state something else.

Xara Ozolins |

Xara casts message directs it at the spider, and does her best impression of a bird call.
Bluff: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24

GM Wolf |

I can't believe I am doing this, excellent use of the spell Xara.
The spider pops out looking for an easy catch of a bird, instead is sliced into chunks by the group of readied weapons. *Splat!!!* The spiders carcass slides down its hole again, very much dead.
There are a few interesting things down in the hole. But only with a climb check DC 15, of 40 feet.
