Oscar Cray the III |

Well for Koldur and i it is rather simple. Koldur is here in order to Protect a rather Nice fellow by the name of Sable who was originally hunting a criminal organization. As for myself i am Oscar Cray the III, Scourge of Evil in the Name of Abbadar. he simply says in a rather normal tone And yourself ? he ask

GM Wolf |

She eyes Oscar with a bit of criticism, then relief. "Well that makes my job easier, I have been hunting down a witch that burnt down his own family's wagon with them still inside. You might call me a hunter of evil, at least the evil that one does even if it does not make one evil. I believe the halfling is the one that I am hunting but he seems to not be evil." She says while eyeing the halfling and Koldur.
The halfling appears to be a bit jumpy as he jostles his half drunk ale at Koldur's quick movement, he quietly says, "I probably should not, that is drink more... Is it colder in here? Why are they staring over here? I.. I... don't feel soo good." The halfling gives the mug to Koldur quickly and runs for the privy.
Sable and his new acquaintance look up at the halfling as he runs by.

Koldur of the Axe |

Dumbfounded, Koldur looks into his tankard and examines the contents. Sniffing it and then glancing to see where his new companion ran off too, the dwarf upon seeing the eyes of his companions and catching them, shrugs.
"Perfectly good Dwarven ale here, me thinks. Maybe not aged long enough?"
Feeling the air, the burly not yet drunk dwarf feels the warmth of the fort.
"Cold?" in puzzlement.

Oscar Cray the III |

Well having being blessed with the ability to know is one is evil in the eyes of the Gods i don't have to concern myself about it. for the rest there is the imperfect justice of man with the burden of proof and things like that he says as he turns around

Reknar |

"New beginnings" - Reknar pondered to himself, as if he heard Lucian's voice in his head - "Making a difference" - it sounded again, the remnants of a conversation held not so long ago, just before he left Absolom.
The weight in his backpack was a poignant reminder of his old companion - he had stuffed it with books - "One can never know too much my friend" - it was surprising how he ever managed to maintain his joviality and optimism after all that they had been through together, but the man seemed to look ever forward, and some of it had definitely rubbed on Reknar, though not that much...
As he crossed paths with the dwarven sentinels at the fort, more than one look was drawn his way - the huge man seeming veritably an implement of warfare - two well used, enormous hafted polearms across his backpack in easy reach; multiple weapons dotting his simple, travelling attire - a mace to one side, a dagger and a sling to the other, all complemented by a well made longbow.
In spite of all the gear carried, he walked casually, sporting only a light chain armor to protect his torso - his massive frame seemingly having no difficulties in carrying the great load, as his horse plodded along behind him, unencumbered.
His dark hair was somewhat disheveled due to the days on the road, and his skin quite tanned by the sun - none of it dims the glow in his dark, black eyes as he hears the sounds of what seems to be a gathering up ahead - a tavern or inn maybe. If it was a dwarven one, that would at least guarantee the quality of the ale, if not the welcome.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
The man chuckled to himself and pushed the doors open, moving inside. With a look around the room, he is now not certain if this is a celebration of some sort, and if he will be actually allowed to sit, drink and eat, so he approaches one of the patrons - a scarred dwarf (Koldur :D) - "Apologies for intruding on the conversation master dwarf - it seems I may have stumbled upon a celebration of sorts while looking for a place to rest my horse and myself while having a drink" - he speaks calmly, lips cracked by the sun of the road - "Name's Reknar, and wanted only to ask if you know if they are taking in travelers for the night, or if I should go looking somewhere else"

GM Wolf |

None detect as evil.
Reknar heard the sounds of celebration but could not find it in the stables or the main building within the walls. Soon he followed what he heard and found stairs leading down... Soon he come to the underground basement which was unadorned. Still following the sounds he found more stairs which led him to the double doors he pushed open.
The dwarfs continue their merry making with jests and jostles amongst themselves.

Koldur of the Axe |

Eyeing the newcomer and his load, the dwarf casts a practiced eye on him. Noting the positions of the weapons, the well worn hafts and his stance, this old dwarf grins.
"None at all, This here be a celebration and all are welcome. However lodgings would have to be put forward to the proper owners." gesturing towards the proper owner that this newcomer should look too.
"Nevertheless come join us for a spot of ale, you look like one for a hearty tale. My companions and I would be most interested while I wait for another interesting little man." Koldur grins as his hands snakes around and somehow manages to snag another tankard full of frothing ale.

Reknar |

"Not that much of a tale I guess, but I'll take you up on the ale" - the man retrieves the polearms to lean them against a nearby wall, in easy reach - "Throat's dry as a week old dead rabbit - been on the road for too long" - he adds with a chuckle - "Why the celebration?" - pulling up a chair and turning to the others at the table - "May I?"

Oscar Cray the III |

Well either the halfling is using magic to disguise the taint of evil, or it is just a small taint of it as i do not sense anything from him he calmly replied o the woman.
None the less if you follow him he might lead you to the one you seek. And if i am still around you can have my help should there be Evil to be cleansed he says drinking his wine

GM Wolf |

Koldur just recovered some more ales from the keg next to the door. The halfling still has not come back. Sable, the elf, and a female is in the back right corner of the room. Oscar and a woman in a purple robe are set apart from the merry making at a side table. The dozen or so dwarves continue their merry making with songs and drinking at the center table.
"Nonetheless Oscar, I am sure he is the one I seek, would you assist in detaining him with me?" She asks Oscar in a flat tone.

Koldur of the Axe |

"Hmmm I wonder where he is..." Koldur mutters to himself.
Passing one tankard full of frothy ale to the newcomer.
"Ah don't believe Ah got your name. Ah'm Koldur of the Axe, hailing from the Iron Peaks. Care to introduce yerself then?"

Reknar |

"Name's Reknar...
:P
"Reknar is my name - good to meet you Koldur. I am from good old Varisia, but been traveling for a while now" - the man answers, accepting the tankard, and taking a couple long drinks - "That definitely hit the spot" - he smiles, nodding approvingly at the dwarf - "Thank you"
He turns his chair slightly to take in the rest of the room - "So... Why the celebration?"

GM Wolf |

Ardent looks a bit crestfallen, "Well come with me then." She says as she gets up. She pulls out a pair of mantacles that don't have a lock on them yet. Holding them in one hand and her staff in the other she goes to the door. Before she gets to the door it opens up and the halfling looks her up and down quickly before bolting past her and Oscar.

Oscar Cray the III |

You Stop right there he shouts at the hafling moving after him drawing his weapon
Surrender and no harm will come to you as long as you answer question ! STOP RUNNING ! he says knowing full well that with his heavy armor he has no chance in catching up

Koldur of the Axe |

"Wh-?" koldur sputters as he drops his tankard, and then with surprising speed, dashes to attempt to hold the halfling, and then put him behind him.
"Oscar what's going on?" he bellows. "Explain me little friend" he follows up even as his large hands reaches out.
CMB, grapple Ardent 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23

Koldur of the Axe |

I blame meds. Halfling name is Hundor and yes I intended to grapple Ardent.
lol.
Ask Koldur why, I don't know him very well it seems.
Please don't kill me if I FUBAR this up.
"Stop him? What about her?" Still trying to fend off the woman from the halfling.
"Hundor? What troubles ye me friend. We can talk it out methinks." as Koldur once more tries to reach out to the halfling with words.

GM Wolf |

Ardent goes after the halfling but becomes accosted by Koldur, with some urgency in her voice she screeches out, "Let me go dwarf I need to stop the halfling before he kills again!"
The halfling does not seem affected by your words. No intimidation or diplomacy checks. He continues to the doors and opens one, he seems scared.
14 Halfling *
12 Sable
11 Koldur
11 Oscar
8 Dwarves... *
4 Ardent
4 Reknar
Halfling now at the doors to exit with one of them open, 20 feet from Koldur. Koldur holds Ardent, as Oscar is besides Koldur and Ardent. Sable is in the back of the room with the other female, 60 feet from the exit doors. Reknar is somewhere in between Koldur and the exit doors. The dwarves continue their merry making unaware of the drama unfolding. Some of them might see the scene but notice it is not their business so ignore it.

Koldur of the Axe |

Yep I FUBARed. I knew I forgot something. On my turn, Use these as my diplomacy checks. 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
"Hundor, Please. Calm down and let us talk this out." again the dwarf pleads even as he tries to fend of an angry woman.
"What proof ye have lassie? I see no murderer here. And by whose right do ye come by?" Koldur grumbles out as he feels his beard pulled.

Round 1
Sable gets up and rushes to his allies sides. He looks at both of them, no weapon drawn, ready to act if needed.

GM Wolf |

The halfling stops at the door, looking like he is ready to bolt but does not do it yet. He quickly says with a quake in his voice, "I don't want to be chained up again for a crime I never committed!"
Ardent the woman in the purple robe held by Koldur stops her movement, she scowls at Koldur then at Oscar. In an indignant voice she says, "I am an officer of the courts in Restov, burdened with the task to bring Wellby Rubybottle back to serve his sentence or if needed to carry out the charge of witchcraft and murder with my own blade. The temple of Iomedae sanctions the courts actions and decisions. If you would let me I can retrieve the documents."

Oscar Cray the III |

Round 1
Oscar will continue moving toward the haflin in order to restain him using as little non leathal violence as possible
You should surrender, and if you are innocent truly at heart then magical means to get to the truth can be used for all to know that you are innocent and then washed of these accusations
it is Oscar's goal to try to convince him to surrender if he is really innocent. and should he flee try to restrain him
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19

Reknar |

Reknar watches with a mix of amusement and surprise as the situation unfolds. Koldur had just offered him a drink, and in his book that was more than enough for now, so he stood up - "Need help fetching that halfling?" - he asked the dwarf amidst the confusion.

Koldur of the Axe |

"Donna Hurt 'im!" Koldur replies even as he releases the woman.
"And ye keep yer blade in yer sheath till we get dis cleared up."
14 Halfling

Ardent quickly says, "Do I have my blade out?" Now free from Koldur she rushes after the halfling.
The halfling has a speed of 20 feet and Ardent has a speed of 30 feet. There are very few plces to run.
staff attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18 damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Will save for Hundar: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
She catches up to him in Round 3 and swings. Same as anyone with a speed of 30 feet. With a quick clip from her staff the halfling continues to run.

Round 2/3
Sable just knows one route in and out of this place and it is the way that Ardent and the halfling are traveling he quickly moves after them. Seeing that Oscar and Koldur will not be able to catch up anytime soon he takes the initiative. "Stand down lady and I will bring him in." He seriously says to Ardent as he draws his massive elven blade.

GM Wolf |

Round 4
Ardent quickly says, "Yes I am sure your melee will be more effective than mine and the staff seems to not be working." She slows down to let Sable and Reknar to pass her. She puts away the manacles.
The halfling squeals and keeps moving as fast as his little legs will carry him. He moves his hands and speaks some strange dialect, abyssal, and a fog bank appears before him. He moves into it. He is now in the basement.

Round 4
He quickly moves up to the halfling and swings hoping to catch him with the flat of his blade.
Elven Courtblade: 1d20 + 8 - 4 ⇒ (19) + 8 - 4 = 23 damage: 2d8 + 7 ⇒ (8, 6) + 7 = 21
Elven Courtblade: 1d20 + 8 - 4 ⇒ (1) + 8 - 4 = 5 damage: 2d8 + 7 ⇒ (8, 1) + 7 = 16

"Lock him up as you will, then bring him downstairs. I will let Koldur handle this one but if you give me problems you can be like the halfling too." He says with serious threat, he is one for freedom but this is not his business. His sword tip wavers from the ground but does not directly threaten the lady.

GM Wolf |

She looks up at Sable with almost outrage but then sees the wisdom of his words. She puts the manacles on the halfling, locks them with a simple lock and allows Sable to carry him down stairs.
Soon enough the group are downstairs sitting around a table with Ardent and the passed out halfling locked up.

Reknar |

Round 4
He quickly moves up to the halfling and swings hoping to catch him with the flat of his blade.
[dice=Elven Courtblade]1d20+8-4 [dice=damage]2d8+7
[dice=Elven Courtblade]1d20+8-4 [dice=damage]2d8+7
"Nice swing" - the man nods approvingly - "I am Reknar by the way"
-------
Back at the table:
"So why all the fuss about the halfling?" - he questions, sitting down heavily, and motioning for another beer round to the table - "Next one's on me"

Koldur of the Axe |

Slow as he is at times, Koldur salutes Sable for his reliable bladework.
"As exellent as always me friend."
Turning to the unconsious halfling on the table his brow furrows and then he faces Ardent.
"Before we be walking the little one, what crime has he commited and when. At least we have an understanding before we question him and get his side of the story. He mentioned being imprisoned for something he ain't done."

![]() |

"Thanks, Sable is my name." He says in response to Reknar.
-----
"I do what I can!" He says with a wink to his old dwarven friend.

Oscar Cray the III |

Oscar will LoH: 1d6 ⇒ 4 on the hafling so that his hurt is lessened
Being sentence for murder and witchcraft for just standing by seems a bit strong to me. Of not giving assistance to those in need he is probably guilty off. But the "reason" you gave for sentencing him is he leave the sentence unfinished
Would you mind giving us some time to do some investigation before carrying out anything he gently ask

GM Wolf |

"As I have said the faith of Iomedae sanctions Restov's courts actions and decisions. I did not condemn him, I am merely following out my orders and edicts. You know what I know now, I am the messenger to collect and bring him back or to carry out the sentence if resistance is met with. As long as the halfling is secured, I can wait." Ardent says.

Koldur of the Axe |

"Sentenced for just being there? I dunnoe what heads your justice there but it seems flimsy at best." retorts Koldur flabbergasted at such a reason.
"Seems to me if a brawl breaks out, then them barkeeps all be getting jailed for serving Ale!" Taking a heavy seat and then beckoning to companions both old and new.
"What say ye all before we wake the little one?" he asks, presenting his question to all.
"Any way to prove his innocence while we get his side of the story?"

![]() |

"I don't know about this whole business, I will wait to hear the halflings story before I decide anything. The quick act of the blade is too quick for a murderer, but then again I am more in the thought of the persons actions to show who they are, he might be turning a new leaf in his life and just needs some support to fully change his ways. None the less still I wait for the story." Sable reasons as he sits down with the group and waves over the gal in the corner then recognizing she has gone back to meditating and sips on a fresh ale.

Koldur of the Axe |

"Wait....Ye said. Not there for the acts commited and You said there was evidence. Have ye seen it?" asks Koldur feeling the story to be more bizzare than his usual.

Oscar Cray the III |

Oscar will turn toward the little man
So now that you have heard everything, is there anything you wanted to say in your defense? Did you know you were convicted for a crime by a court ? What is your side of the story? And please don't try to lie if you want our help in this he says nicely to him

Koldur of the Axe |

Crossing his brawny arms, Koldur huffs and then sits back and awaits the answer.

Koldur of the Axe |

I think he meant healing 4 points isn't enough.
