Sable comes charging in to take out the one that Koldur started. As his blade slices off a arm and the corpse falls to the ground, he yells, "That be my kill dwarf." He winks at Koldur.


Round 13
The dwarves hold their own fighting the zombies but you can tell they are only warriors bumbling through their attacks, but use tactics to help each other. You can see why they waited for help.

Koldur pops his back in and moves up to attack one of the zombies taking off a chunk of muscle. Sable comes in and finishes it off.

Oscar with a mighty swing cuts halfway through the chest of the zombie in front of him, the bone and muscle separating for strong steel.

Henric just watches as the front liners meat grind the corpses to the ground.

D makes good work of his temple sword leaving gashes in the zombies, but not enough to drop them.

The dwarf next to D yells, "They are to many, draw back, and we can take them off in smaller numbers." As he strikes the zombie in front of him and slowly backs off.

Remember D, since you are on the table you get a +2 on attack.

Of all the strikes that the zombies put out only one gets D, with him avoiding attacks from three, some have to get through. It leaves a nasty scratch on your arm and tries to grapple you. With D's agile movements and ease of knowing brawling, the zombie has no chance to succeed at the grapple.

More zombies begin to come through the front gate, they must have come to the noise.

Not sure how the eagles ended up way over there. They were supposed to be attacking the zombies in the courtyard (near the A1 label). If that was a miscommunication, no worries, and they can hang out there attacking zombies.

Henric realizing he had taken to the walkway only to discover there were no longer robed figures in the smoke as he had thought runs back to the ladder knowing he can be more use on the ground in the thick of it than up here.


Round 14

D strikes it well enough to leave chunks on the ground where the body stood. Koldur takes down two with ease. Oscar still has terrible luck as the zombie avoids his attack.

One of the dwarves goes to Xara's aid, trying to push the door closed. It closes some but still enough for a zombie to get through, about 2 feet. Though only one zombie at a time. The one attaking Xara misses.

D you get an AoO on the zombie to your South as it goes after the dwarf. If you don't kill it, it will slam, grapple, and bite the dwarf to the ground.

Oscar you get hit by a slam from a new zombie coming into range, 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 damage.

It was just easier for me to roll on my own here. Henric you would not be able to run, so I moved you back to where you would have gotten a double move.

D double moves to get to the gate


With the valiant efforts of the heroes the bottle necked zombies coming through the front gate have no chance and are sliced up with little effort. Between all of the dwarves the zombies out in the open and in the buildings are taken care of with a bit of bustle but still taken care of well enough.

End combat.

The dwarves sing a song of triumph and accomplishment. They surge towards your group thanking you all for your help. Many of pats on the back, merry chuckling, singing, and some dance the dwarves settle smiling at your group. "It is a sad story lad, we had little use for the top of the fort and a sorcerer was willing to take care of business up here. She paid her rent and we went to the forges. She was not a good person she brought a flock of beggars with her. One day something went wrong and we found a zombie entering our forge, we killed it quick enough, then we knew we had a problem. We killed several more before making the exits fully secure. That was about a week ago, since then we have been waiting for a distraction to free ourselves."

"Is the sorceror still around? How long ago was this? We can help get this fortress up and running. We are also on a quest and may have need to prolong our stay here with your permission. Of course we should stock up on ale to celebrate our victory but first let me introduce my comapanions."

Pointing them out in turn, Koldur fires off their names.
"Brother Henric, our reliable Healer, Sable Soren Swordmaster of Reown, D, his butler but let that not mislead you for he is a doughty fighter in his own way, Oscar Cray the III, Holy Paladin in the service of Abbadar,Xara Ozolins, the lovely lady who summons creatures to battle on her behalf and Razaniel, a bard and Paladin in the service of Desna."

At the mention of his name Sable salutes the dwarves with his sword and a bow. Letting the others interact with the dwarves and resting up a bit from the fight and excitement.


"Come now, we must go to the dining hall and drink, and be merry. Tomorrow we will help each other. The fort will be secured by the Great axe weilders and you all with have dwarven hospitality." Chief Morrel states leading Koldur to the nearest stairs down. The rest of the dwarves seem to have several jobs, five of them escort with arms happily around a hero to follow their chief. Others are making sure the dead are dead, closing the front gate and moving the dead to the pits.

Following the rest of the dwarves inside. He looks around to take a look at the fort.


Xara checks the clothing and thinks that the individuals were down on their luck peasants, bandits, or beggars.

Below ground you can see freshly carved stone walls, ceiling and floors. No more than a month old. The dwarves have been busy. Not much decorations at all, but the craftmanship is good and sturdy. It appears they have reinforced a basement of some kind.

The next level down is their dining hall. Where the festivities will soon start. But the dwarves want to show off all their underground accomplishmnets and the forge is the next level down. A place of construction and creation. They don't show the last level for it is just starting to be dug out, but there are some good metal veins down there.

Tis truly impressive none of this was here when Oleg and his wife still ran the outpost. It has been some time since I was here last, but the speed with which you have made a hold of this quality is impressive indeed Henric says in earnest admiration for the dwarven work.


"We have had many hands to make the work happen. Also the basement was actually here, the first level of underground, though Oleg did not know it or at least it looked untouched for years." Chief Morrell says in response to Brother Henrics comment.

The next morning finds the group well rested, and there should be no hangovers with the amount of water and food they had you eat before you could make it to a bed. You are escorted to the rooms upstairs in the guest house. Four rooms and six beds, though if you wanted to you could claim the large bed in the main building.

Koldur will enjoy speaking with the dwarves and see about getting supplies purchased as well as any latest maps about the areas. Local news would also be nice as he enjoys the dwarven atmosphere. It's like a home away from home. He would also enquire about Oleg and wife since they the last owners and what happened to them.
