Oscar Cray the III |

Our Mission was a success Chief.. We have your idol and therefore will give it back to you. There is a point that we have to talk about. We have learned that you shaman is corrupted and therefore we will make sure that he is removed from office by a very permanent means, as well as any other kobolds that have been tainted. Fortunately you are not one of them as you stayed true and are free of all this. Hence the reason why we can only hand the idol back to you and not to him.

GM Wolf |

The chief looks emboldened and relieved at your words, "Finally the reign of Tartuk is at an end! I hold the sacred idol, my curse is lifted and Tartuk holds no power here. Come warden's of my tribe, come cut the corrupted from my ranks!" He looks to you, Oscar, Sable, Koldur, and Xara.
The kobolds around look relieved as well and shake their weapons in the air at their chief's proclamation.
He waves them to follow him, unless they stop him and strategize instead.

Oscar Cray the III |

Hold one Chief before you commit massacres of some undeserving kobolds. We will find those corrupted and deal with them accordingly. And first we will start with the shaman. So you stay here and deal with those that will be asking question when we deal with the rest, don't you agree ?
Diplo: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22

Sable cares not to go into the kobold lair, knowing well how hard it will be to move, "Oscar hold up, would it not be to our advantage to bring the shaman to us so that we can pounce on him and he not in his own lair? How would you normally summon the shaman?"

Xara Ozolins |

"I would much prefer to confront him out-of-doors, if such a thing could be said of a kobold den."

Koldur of the Axe |

I'm back
During the trip back.
" I do not know why but it seems that everyone is afraid of the Shaman, if we end his threat you'll definitely be happier I suppose. Tell me about your tribe before this shaman came to take control. What was it like?"
At the cave.
"Bring it." are his words. Short and to the point like his twin axes. Though the usually combat loving dwarf holds his ground as his he hears his allies counsel for another battle field of their own choosing.
"Makes sense, have him up here so that we don't have to go looking for him."

Koldur of the Axe |

Koldur ambles up and beings to inspect the boulders, tapping them gently to see if he can figure out where the kobold shaman could have appeared next.
Perception, stone cunning! 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 4 + 2 = 16

GM Wolf |

Koldur takes a cursory look over the entrances that are visible and finds no secret door in either of the false entrances. Nor any other openings near the actual entrance.
I rolled your other perception checks.
If asked the kobolds tell you they don't know how but the shaman just appears ontop of one of the boulders. They don't think it is a specific one, but one in view of the entrance.

Koldur of the Axe |

Koldur shrugs at his failure to find a possible secret entrance though he does relay what he learns from the kobolds to the others.

![]() |

He takes his time to get up on one of the rocky boulders. He crouches down between two of the boulders and has his sword out ready to dole out some damage. Now ready for battle.
stealth: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21

Xara Ozolins |

Xara gets on Reafan, and the two of them circle above the boulders ready to swoop down at the shaman.

GM Wolf |

With a nod from Oscar or Koldur Mikmek holds the horn up to his lips and breathes deeply into it, making a deep blast come from it.
Within a minute the purple kobold appears on one of the Northern boulders as if from nowhere and as he appears two small magical orbs shoot toward the giant raven. 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (4, 4) + 2 = 10 It looks to the right and left appearing slightly confused.
Round 1
25 Koldur
18 Xara (no init in stats)
16 Tartuk*
12 Sable
11 Oscar
5 Kobolds
4 Mikmek
Please post what you plan to do, recon is available if something drastic changes. Likely those doing anything that will impact combat in the first rounds will be Xara and Tartuk.
Tartuk with a wand in his hand moves it about and another two orbs shoot up at the flying beast. 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (2, 2) + 2 = 6

Round 1
Sable sees the threat and quickly moves along the boulders to get as close as he can traversing over the boulders. As he travels along he makes sure that the next line of boulders is not where he needs to travel.
Checks as assumed will be needed.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
Climb: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16

Koldur of the Axe |

Koldur moves into position with Oscar to melee combat.

Xara Ozolins |

As a note, Xara auto-passes the DC 10 Handle Animal check to make Reafan execute his known tricks (even with the +2 to DC for Reafan being injured), as well as her ride checks to guide with knees. If it's okay, I'll not bother cluttering up my posts with those two rolls.
Reafan lets out a shrill caw-caw as the first missiles hit.
Xara gives him a command, and with a tug on the reins, the great bird descends to a point adjacent to the shaman, but 5-feet above him.
Xara DC 10 Ride check to fight with mount: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Xara stabs with her spear, trying to knock that wand away. The spear has reach, so she shouldn't provoke an AoO.
Disarm attempt; longspear; reach; higher ground: 1d20 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 + 1 = 14
Meanwhile, Reafan grabs at Tartuk, attempting to start a grapple.
Grapple; higher ground: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 6 + 1 = 9 Alas, probably not good enough.

GM Wolf |

The old map has a new one to the right of it with this battle. Good to know Xara, that is fine you won't need to roll the checks then.
Oscar and Koldur you both move over to the kobold and find that a climb is ahead of you DC 15 to climb up 15 feet (red arrow). Or you could take a longer route of climbing up at the front boulder a DC 10 climb check (black arrow).
When within 20 feet of the kobold, each time you attack or move on the boulders an Acrobatics check of DC 12 will be needed to stay standing as there are many loose rocks around, but not enough to make it difficult terrain. The kobold is in a 5 foot spot with no rocks, as if the other rocks are planted. Fail the Acrobatics check by 5 or more and fall off the boulders.
The dexterous shaman is able to keep a hold of his wand and keep out of grapple of the giant raven. Right before he tries to strike the giant bird he says a magical word and his sickle glows with a sickly purple color.
AoO for the grapple unless it has imp. grapple/grab: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22 damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Round 1 - recon
No magic missle for Reafan this round.
Casting Defensively 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18 vs. DC 12
The kobold quickly stores his wand in a bag on his leg, with a gesture and a guttural sound he casts a spell upon Reafan. Will Save DC 15 or be frightened by the kobold.
Round 2
Go!

Round 2
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
He attempts to move forward but slides down the slope and falls due to the rocks at his feet. He slams into the top of the boulder, then slowly pulls himself to another standing position.

Xara Ozolins |

Reafan's save vs fear: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Will be busy much of tomorrow, so posting next round in advance in a spoiler.
As her mount succumbs to the fear magic, he takes off to the skies in ful withdrawl mode. Xara lets him get clear of the kobold, then slips off his back, quickly casting a feather fall in herself to slowly float to the ground. As she descends, she summons a celestial eagle into the air a short distance from the kobold, and shouts out in Celestial for it to knock that kobold off the rock. The celestial eagle dives into a charging bull rush.
Charging bull rush; smite evil: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

Koldur of the Axe |

Koldur climbs the most direct path, his axes secured to his belt as he heaves himself up by pure strength and less skill.
Climb vs DC 15 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (16) + 0 = 16

GM Wolf |

Oscar is busy getting up over the boulders to get to the kobold as Koldur climbs up and will need to pull himself up at the beginning of Round 2, DC 15 climb check, then continue his move action and then round.
Round 2
25 Koldur
18 Xara*

The Kobold dodges the eagle, though next round it should be able to attempt again.

Koldur of the Axe |

Climb VS DC 15 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (17) + 0 = 17
Dwarven Sinews, tug and with the strength inborn of one of the mountains, Koldur heaves himself up and over, ready for combat. Puffing for breath.......

Koldur of the Axe |

Koldur puffs and glares at the near hit....
Drawing his weapons, he glowers at the kobold, striking out with Moon's Edge first.
His thumb trailing on Moon's Edge haft, hooks it up tugging it out of its place on his belt. The movement long practiced as his body moves for the swing, allowing his arm to follow the natural movement his body is churning and slamming the wicked edge into his foe. The force of it being stopped allowing the canny dwarf to secure his grip on his favored weapon.
Attack with Moon's Edge (D.Waraxe) 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 191d10 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

GM Wolf |

Koldur since you don't have quick draw only Moon's edge gets out. You will need an Acrobatics check DC 12 or fall prone if 7 or less you fall off the boulder.
Round 2
A moderate laceration is left on the kobold's weapon wielding arm as it squawks in shock of the damage. Mikmek stops cowering and runs over to his kin. The other kobolds wait and watch the ensuing battle. Oscar still has trouble with his bulky armor as he tries to climb up the boulder.
Tartuk smiles at the dwarf, a toothy grim as he steps back and with an arcane gesture and a whispered word he is gone. The rocks seem to part for the kobold as he moved back, now two 5 foot squares are clear of the rocks. Designated by the blue squares.

Xara Ozolins |

Xara casts another summoning SLA. A large rat with golden fur appears in the square the shaman abandoned. In Celestial, Xara says, "There may be an invisible kobold around there. Sniff it out."
The celestial dire rat has both the scent ability and a climb speed.

GM Wolf |

Round 2
Koldur stays up as the rocks below his feet give him some trouble.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
Round 3
Koldur moves forward drawing his other axe out. Glad he has a sure footed spot. He swings blindly at the kobold that is likely just before him. The axe hits hard, likely the creatures side and he smiles at the blood.

Attack with Moon's Edge (D.Waraxe) : 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18

The Dire Rat does its best to stay standing... after it bites at the invisible target.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
Oscar is glad to finally be on top of the boulder and heads straight for the kobold, or at least where it was last but unfortunately slips on a few rocks looses his balance and falls prone but luckily not off the boulders.
Acrobatics for Oscar: 1d20 - 6 ⇒ (16) - 6 = 10
The kobold becomes visible once more after another guttural announcement from his little form. Will Save DC 15 or be frightened by the kobold. He screams at the group almost as if he wants to be killed.
Frightened: A frightened creature flees from the source of its fear as best it can. If unable to flee, it may fight. A frightened creature takes a –2 penalty on all attack rolls, saving throws, skill checks, and ability checks. A frightened creature can use special abilities, including spells, to flee; indeed, the creature must use such means if they are the only way to escape.

Xara Ozolins |

Herself, she flings a glob of acid at the kobold.
Ranged touch attack; acid: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 - 4 = 5

GM Wolf |

The dire rat and eagle take out the kobold and it drops to the ground.
Will Save for Koldur: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
Sable and Koldur hack at the kobold as well, making sure he will never rise again, at least today.
The kobold's raven familiar begins to fly off.
End of combat, 1,200 xp/4 = 300 xp each

![]() |

"Yeah, well it seems I might have been a good distraction too Oscar. Good job team!" Sable says as he begins to pull items off of the kobold.

GM Wolf |

The group strips the kobold of his items and throw the body down off the boulders. Slowly making their way down safely back to the kobolds.
They and hooting and hollaring with their weapons in the air and Milmek comes forward. "Thank you so much for everything."
Then the chief comes forward, "Do you have time to eat and sleep or must you be on your way? Either way we are eternally grateful to you and hope that we may be able to help you in the future!"

Oscar Cray the III |

We do have the time Chief. But it will have to wait for a few moments. There might be others Kobold that were infected and corrupted by the shaman. And i will see to it that they are no longer a threat.
The idea is the purge the evil koblod from the tribe by putting them to the sword.
