Logan Tanessen |

Logan just started swimming normally as they descended. He had memorised Alter Self several times, which could transform him into a native sea creature, but it's duration was limited so he didn't want to waste it. Besides he was quite good at swimming...
Swim?: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30

As you start to swim down you quickly notice the light becoming dimmer and very little daylight reach into the eye. Several kinds of marinelife watches you as you swim by them, most likely to judge if you are predatores or prey.

Jack Duncloak |

Jack slows his descent as the light fades, digs out his everburning hooded lantern, and opens its shutters a bit.
"Anyone have a free hand and want to carry this?" he glubs at the others, a bit surprised at the underwater tone of his own voice. "I fight better when I have a blade in each hand."

Mirabella Lindenbrook |

Mirabella activates her Ioun torch, which floats around her head, illumiating the nearby waters.
Jack, did you end up grabbing the Merciful trident? If we run into Neerann and he is indeed possessed, we should try to take him down alive.

Jack Duncloak |

Jack, did you end up grabbing the Merciful trident? If we run into Neerann and he is indeed possessed, we should try to take him down alive.
I hadn't planned on using it, but Jack should have enough carrying capacity to have brought it along. I'll add it to his inventory.

Bicks Velin |

"Bicks, can you protect our minds from evil influence as well?
[b]"I have seven of those blessings a day. I will gladly cast them on all of you, but the duration is only a few minutes."
If the team agrees (Mirabella thinks it is the right time) that now is the time Bicks casts them.

Mirabella Lindenbrook |

”Best we wait using the Protection from evil until we are certain where the aboleth is. We likely have to battle some of it’s minions before. Perhaps you can use the Locate object spell to check if Neeran is near?”

The sea floor drops away into a vertiginous black pit here. The water above the shaft seems colder and darker than that around it, while the smooth-sided walls drop straight down into the depths, almost as if something had melted through the earth long ago. A ring of shattered coral growth surrounds the rim of the chasm.

Mantanacha makes a face when teh damned shark bites her boyfriend and she finds herself wishing she had rmemeber to get hte air bubble spell up from bicksy already. She swam to protect her jack getting close enough to stab the shark with her tail this time. she pulled her dagger from her belt, remember she could indeed disengage her arms this time. and stabbed at teh stupid sharks face as hard as she could, then she lashed out with her stingery stinger tail!

She made the strangest sound as she giggled feeling blade and taile dig into the sharks flesh.

Mirabella Lindenbrook |

Fighting down a moment of panic at the sight of the terrifying shark, Mirabella flaps her newly grown tail to gain a bit distance on the predator before letting both magic and inspirational song reverberate through the underwater cave.
What a horror! At least it looks like we are in the right location.
5-ft swim back, cast Haste and begin Inspire Courage song.

Logan Tanessen |

Logan felt a shiver going up his spine as this absolutely huge shark appeared out of the depths to bite Jack. This was no good!
He whispered a word of power and his blade was wreathed in miniature lightning's which looked particularly weird under water! He then lunged twice in rapid succession, misjudging the distances somewhat.

Canacha, Logan and Bicks, I can't see you take any moving to get closer to the shark, as a huge creature it has a natural reach of 10 ft. so it's 10 ft below Jack. I'll give you the first of your attacks or in Logans case the spellstrike since I assume you would still cast it?
Canacha and Bicks' weapons hits the shark but it seems they don't really have the biggest effects.
Combat round 1.
Jack,
Great white Shark? (Damage 6)
Logan, Mirabella, Canacha, Bicks

Logan Tanessen |

Logan's attack would likely have missed. I assume he's holding the charge till next round.

Mirabella Lindenbrook |

Noting the lack of effect from Bicks and Logans attacks, Mirabella does a quick mental search of her comprehensive knowledge to figure out what types of attack might be more effective.
Knowledge (X): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11

Jack Duncloak |

Ah, crap. It might be too metagamey for Jack to assume the shark is a zombie of some sort, so I'll roll a basic Knowledge (religion) check to get some idea.
Jack Duncloak Knowledge (religion) Check: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (6) + 0 = 6 (Derp!)
Jack makes a careful 5-foot swim to close the distance and then attempts to stab it multiple times.

WOW! Those are some beautiful attack rolls paired with awful damage rolls against something that likely had DR against all of Jack's attacks!

Wow Jack you either roll well on the damage and bad on the hit or the other way around.
Three of Jack's attacks connects with the shark, but not well enough to pierce it's skin.

Logan Tanessen |

Horrified by what was happening to Jack, Logan pressed home his attack, sending a fraction of his power into his blade which added a soft glow to the crawling lightnings of his earlier spell. His blade flicked out twice with as much force as he could muster!

Jack Duncloak |

Just a quick note: I forgot to add the bonus from Mirabella's Inspire Courage (Again!), not to mention her haste spell. I'll roll the bonus haste attack now and try to do a better job remembering going forward.
Jack Duncloak +1 mithral short sword (main, TWF, IC +2, bonus haste attack): 1d20 + 10 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 10 + 2 + 1 = 18 for magic, silver, piercing damage: 1d6 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 3 + 2 = 7 (19-20)
Well, possibly 2 more damage IF that hit and IF this is indeed a zombie.

![]() |

With +2 to hit from song and +1 from haste all 4 of your attack will hit but the confirm is still shy a few. Bicks if you have a swim speed you can 5 ft. swim.
Reflex: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
Bicks' spell seems to have the desired effect on the shark and Logan's second attack scores a direct hit hitting the shark letting the current of his spell run through it.

Jack Duncloak |

Jack sheathes his short swords for the moment and then draws his two daggers, hoping they'll be more effective against the undead shark.
I believe that's all Jack can do this round. I don't want to just drop the short swords as I have no idea how far it is to the bottom.

With Jack's withdrawal from the shark it looks to Logan and Canacha for it's next meal, not bothering to follow after the target already wounded.

Logan Tanessen |

The shark's bite left Logan's left shoulder feeling like he'd dipped it in molten lava. This wouldn't do, he needed to defend himself and press home the attack! With a word, suddenly there were five Logans floating about, each of which simultaneously lunged at the shark !

In her emotional state Canacha attempted to throw one of her bombs at the shark only to realize throwing weapons underwater is way harder then on land. The bomb only traveled about half a foot before loosing momentum and start a slowly decent towards the pit.
The combined assault of Mirabella and Logan destroys the shark and all life leaves it and it breaks apart by the water while following Canacha's bomb.

Canacha Bais |

Flitting about jack in her manta with arms form the now frazzeled alchemist was clearly agitated, both by her lapse of thought and well her boyfriend looking like a shark mauled him.
Manta Manta. MANTA!
She burbled in unintelligible words of clear frustration.

Logan Tanessen |

Leaking blood into the water around him, the multiple Logan's replied to Canacha, "If you mean that was damnably unpleasant, I wholeheartedly agree!"
"I suppose we should push on but maybe a touch of healing would be in order first..."
It's been a while, I can't remember how we approach healing. Do we have a wand?

Mirabella Lindenbrook |

Bicks has a wand of cure light wounds plus healing abilities galore
Mirabella glances at her wounded companions in concern, but keeps her attention focused on the murky depths below.
"I'd say that monster is a good indication that we are in the right place, unless the entire ocean is teeming with undead predators." she says with a shudder.
"Let's heal up quickly and cast the protection from evil spells as well, and maybe an air bubble for Canacha's gun. Our combat probably alerted those below."

As you continue to decent you are met by quite a sight. An insane tangle of broken ships, a dozen at the least, lies in a jumbled heap near the bottom of the trench. The sodden wreckage is so thick that it’s impossible to tell the true depth of the pit beneath the clogged mass of sunken vessels. A narrow alcove to the east overlooks the heap of wreckage.
The topmost wrecked ship is at a depth of 250 feet, but the pit itself extends another 30 feet below this.
