The Baron smiles. "It makes me happy to hear you accept dear nephew, your father was sure you might accept the terms. I have a little present for you." He says getting up from his chair and walks over to a fine ornate cabinet, which he opens and pulls out a short sword. "This is Zahria, it's a special short sword, one of a pair, which I use its twin and your father used this when he was still fit to take to the field. Most of our agents are shown this once they have earned our trust. I will give you access to use it for the time being, it can help you quickly acquire aid from our field agents as they will know the sword. Just say its name and the crest of our house will be shown on the blade for any to see. Other than this special enchantment it’s a simple magical weapon that I hope you give you an edge in the struggles to come." He hands the sword over to Jack. "Do take good care of it."
Zahria is a +1 silver short sword, which can show the crest of house Jhaltero upon invoking its name.
Logan is pretty sure Jarvis should be the best one to ally with, especially considering that according to Lady Docur, Count Aulorian is busy looking for his son, whom you helped escape from the estate some weeks ago.
| Mirabella Lindenbrook |
"That sounds like a plan, then. We approach house Jarvis, then outfit an expedition to aid the troubled aquatic elves. Perhaps we should call upon a certain sea captain who owes us a favor?"
Do we know how to impress House Jarvis? We can pretty much rock out any skill check, especially in the knowledge department.
| Logan Tanessen |
Logan nodded, "Yes that sounds good Mirabella. Let's try and set up a meeting with house Jarvis. I suppose we could cold call them and see if we can talk our way in, they're said to be more loyal to the city than anything else so we've got that going for us."
| Jack Duncloak |
Jack thanks the Baron for the gift, recognizing the blade from the days his father bore it. "I'm sure it will aid me in the struggles ahead."
Yup--I'm in agreement: on to House Jarvis!

You should be able to impress the baroness with yourskill at building (Craft or Profession [related to the Baroness’s interests]) or your sophistication andsocial grace (Diplomacy)
| Logan Tanessen |
Sounds perfect. Do we have a way of arranging a meeting or will we need to cold call?
Jesper Roland Sørensen
|
Not really, Lady Docur might be able to for a price either that or try and charm your way in to speak with her.
Jesper Roland Sørensen
|
As you leave the Jhaltero mansion you notice it's late afternoon, you might be able to make one more stop at the Jarvis estate but you will also have to risk the curfew once you are done talking with the Baroness.
| Jack Duncloak |
"I'm not," Jack admits with one of his grins. "Maybe we can talk Laria into letting us stay in her bunk room or the old hideaway for one more night and visit Lady Jarvis in the morning."
Jesper Roland Sørensen
|
It's not like you need to ask for a place to sleep, you got Laria's coffeehouse, The Tooth and Nail, and the Lucky Bones to choose between.
| Logan Tanessen |
Logan smiled, "Lets just return to the Tooth and Nail for the evening? And tomorrow we can call on the Jhaltero mansion. There's no need to needlessly seek trouble, right?"
When Jack suggested the coffee house, Logan replied, "That could work too, I'm not picky."
| Jack Duncloak |
"Plus, the Long Roads Coffeehouse is just a stone's throw away from the Greens," Jack points out. With a grin, the ranger adds, "Laria's apple cinnamon turnovers have absolutely nothing at all to do with my recommendation!"
Laria's place is my vote.
| Mirabella Lindenbrook |
”And noone in the history of Golarion has ever convinced a halfling to head in the opposite direction of delicious baked goods. The coffee house it is!”
| Logan Tanessen |
At that moment Logan's stomach rumbled loudly. He laughed, "Well I guess that settles it, cinnamon turnovers it is!"
Jesper Roland Sørensen
|
Laria greets you as you enter the coffeehouse while she is showing a few of the regulars out making sure they get home before curfew is in effect. You can still smell the scent of a freshly brewed pot of coffee on the stove along with Laria preparing a few loafs of bread for the morning rush. "What brings you all here tonight? Still working your charm in the greens for a little cash?" she says to instill the idea of you being peddlers to the locals leaving.
| Logan Tanessen |
Logan sighed, "Been a long day, we're doing what we can. Truth be told cinnamon brought us here, jack has a sweet tooth!" Logan clapped Jack on the back to punctuate this remark.
Jesper Roland Sørensen
|
"Always happy to hear people love my baked goods. If you plan to stay the night, you will get first pick on the first batch of the day along we a good cup if coffee in the morning." Laria says beaming and herding you inside so she can finish closing.
After she finished closing up Laria joins you at your tabel with some coffee, a freshly made loaf of sourdough beard along with a bit of meat and cheeses. "So how goes the mission in the Greens?" she asks while handing you all cups and plates.
| Jack Duncloak |
"Two families down, one more to visit with tomorrow," Jack informs the halfling. "After that, things might get dicey. We'll likely have to do some strategizing before we approach any of the families who might favor Thrune over their home city."
| Canacha Bais |
She had sat as close to Jack as possible and as Jack started to inform the halfling of their progress she slid her hand into his in an obvious fashion.
"Things have went. . . amazing! Just got a little late out you know."
She giggled and added a lot of milk to the coffee...after all it was terrible and no where near as good as tea. But with the mint Crisis still on, she would have to make do.
"Do we have plans with the others. I won't lie my knowledge of nobles is . . . minute."
She whispered low enough in case there were any eavesdroppers about.
Jesper Roland Sørensen
|
"Ah that sounds good, I'm uncertain if those that favor Thrune and the current chelish system would do much to talk with you. I would consider the risk they might trail you back to a hideout and prepare for such. I don't think you really need to worry about them telling Thrune what you look like, I get the feeling he either already knows about you or someone he has hired knows it, at least that was the impression I got from that tian woman who came here earlier asking question. I get the feeling she is quite intelligent and rather crafty, even trying to dodge her questions it felt like she still got the answer she wanted. I would be careful around her if she comes here while you are here.” Laria tells you cutting the bread to serve you all.
| Logan Tanessen |
Logan shrugged, "Being hunted goes with the territory, to be frank I don't think we've caused enough inconvenience yet for Thrune to really try to find us yet. We're more of an annoying gnat."
"But" he predicted, "that will change..."
| Canacha Bais |
Her ears perked up even and she held Jacks hand in her lap.
"Oh? What more can you tell us about the Tian?"
She giggled and blushed. Why was she so giddy today... no no she knew why. She had permission to date her Jack. He had no excuse now to not well you know persue her... if she let him pursue. She might be the hunter. She hadn't decided. She had to shake her head a little and jumble that thought away. The Tian woman was important.
Jesper Roland Sørensen
|
Laria describes a woman which looks like the tian you encountered dealing with Varl Wex and whom you let bring the body into the authorities. "I get the feeling she might have been a detective of some sort, one fond of alchemy for her work from the sound of flasks in her jacket."
| Logan Tanessen |
To the others, Logan asked, "Do we think she's going to become a problem? Should we do something?"
| Bicks Velin |
"If we move on her, we have to be ready to make that move permanent. We can't reveal ourselves and leave her, especially if she is a talented investigator. That said, she could have valuable information if we could get her to share it."
| Jack Duncloak |
"Perhaps we can bait her into a trap," Jack suggests. Giving Canacha's hand a quick squeeze, he adds, "Canacha and I could go on a blissfully unaware lover's stroll through the city with the rest of you folks following at a discreet distance. If we find the investigator following, we catch her in a pincer move."
Jesper Roland Sørensen
|
"I don't know if it would be wise to do something right now, if she knows you already and Thrune hasn't arrested you yet she might now and reported on you yet. She might just be a hired hand who has seen you are not as bad as Thrune might have made you out to be. At least don't do anything to change her mind about you so soon to leaving town for a while. We can handle her coming around snooping as long as she doesn't bring the ...." Laria says just before being interrupted by screams from the streets.
You are sitting in the far corner of the Longhouse, for people with 30 move you can get outside to the streets to have a look, those with less can make it to a window and have a look outside or a double move out to the streets.
Once outside or at a window do a perception check.
| Logan Tanessen |
As screams rang out, Logan said "Stay safe Laria, we'll handle this." before rushing to the door, with his hand on the pommel of his sword!
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
| Mirabella Lindenbrook |
Jumping to her feet, Mirabella grabbed her gear and looked around the room. Had they vompromised a safe haven by coming here?
”Get ready for trouble! If we get separated, find a place to lay low and make your way back to the Lucky Bones once things quiet down.”
| Mirabella Lindenbrook |
Rather than following Logan into the street right away, Mirabella peeks out of a window close to the door.
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15
| Jack Duncloak |
Like Mirabella, Jack takes the cautious approach and peers out a window rather than rushing headlong into the unknown.
Jack Duncloak Perception Check: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (8) + 15 = 23
Jesper Roland Sørensen

From the windows Jack and Mirabella can see the people on the street point in the direction of the Opera house but the view from inside doesn't get a good view of it.
Rushing outside Logan quickly spots the people point in that direction terrified. As he turns to watch he can see huge dragon in the color of blue with a glowing red pentagram on it's chest. And just as soon as it appeared on the twilight sky it magics itself away again.
| Logan Tanessen |
"Woah!" whispered Logan as he witnessed the awesome and terrifying sight of a blue dragon emblazoned with a glowing red pentagram, the symbol of Asmodeus!
He considered what he knew of blue dragons...
Kn: Arcarna: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (19) + 16 = 35
Jesper Roland Sørensen
|
Logan knows that by the size of the dragon it's most like an adult dragon. Blue dragons are like most dragons quite adept at magic but you have never heard of them using teleportation-like magic. The blue dragons are surrounded in an aura of electricity and can create water at will aswell as turn any liquid into sand.
Logan's history check, take 10 with your +11 is enough, so I give you this.
Logan remembers from his studies of Kintargo that during the civil war a blue dragon made her home here and preyed on the ships and caravans going to and from Kintargo. History tells of the Silver Ravens of old defeating the dragon but there are no mentions of the dragon from back hen having a pentagram on it's just.
| Jack Duncloak |
"Well, the Tian spy no longer seems to be our biggest threat," Jack deadpans.
| Logan Tanessen |
"Indeed." replied Logan, he filled the others in with what he knew about blue dragons and the civil war history.
Stepping back inside he said, "A confrontation with that beastie is not something I'd want to rush into. Even if we had some magical protection from its breath which as far as I know we don't, it's intelligent and a fearsome combatant if we manage to close to close range."
| Bicks Velin |
Bicks casts detect magic before going to the door and tries to see what magic auras are present to determine the schools of magic that were used.
Looking for illusion and conjuration is his first instinct, but there is no real first with detect magic.
Jesper Roland Sørensen
|
Bicks don't detect anything out of the ordinary, just the useal auras of the magical gear you have equiped yourselves with throughout the journey so far.
| Logan Tanessen |
Logan nodded to Canacha, "Yeah. Think I'm going to need some extra tricks up my sleeve too." Walking back inside he suggested, "Looks like there's nothing more we can do about it now, lets get some rest?"
Unfortunately protection from energy isn't on the Magus spell list.
| Mirabella Lindenbrook |
I can cast either resistance or protection via my mnemonic vestment but that's a once-per-day thing. I will learn them eventually.
Neither spell is on the bard spell list, but Mirabella has an insane UMD if we find scrolls or wands.

The dragon is not something you would encounter for this book. This little show and tell is mostly to warn you that there might be a dragon fight in the future, so you have a chance to prepare for other things than lots of devils.
Jesper Roland Sørensen

"I'd say. I'll ask if Rexus can help prepare for the eventuallity we have to fight that some day. If it does have a pentagram on it's chest, perhaps someone at the temple can call upon it, as scary as that sounds, whenever he or she wants to." Laria says starting to clean the table.
[/ooc]When you are ready to visit the next noble house you can go and try and talk your way in with the guards at the gate.[/ooc]
