@Markus I hear ya.
My pup is a 5 year old Staffy Bull Terrier, all 52lbs of him - when he gets going he's like a train, he's pulled my wife off her feet more than once!
Here's to a speedy recovery :)
@Lucid - cheers for the input mate. Sverrir already has a Amulet of Natural Armour +1, so at least one is going a-begging.

My daughter has a large dog. Its a mut and at 18 months old it weights in at 55 lbs. Looks like a lean short haired Akita to me. But she just got a Shiloh Shepherd. At 5 months it already weighs as much. I predict much trouble. :)
I am about to crunch that loot list and make a semi-final allocation/recommendation.

Healer’s Kit - Sell 2 keep one as party loot - 50 gold
Potion of Cure Moderate Wounds - one for each of us +1 for party loot
Signet Ring of House Fairlan - Greyhawk (30GP) - Plot hook and we will research.
Boots of Striding & Springing (Filthy Crocodile Skin) - I honestly think Markus will get the best use of these despite Sverrir's short legs. If Markus does not really want them then sell for 2750 gold - He already has boots of the Cat so he has to choose. The Cat boots would sell for 500 gold.
Circlet of Persuasion (Dirt encrusted silver) sell for 2250. I know our new player could maybe use it, but we also need cash in the crafting pool.
Amulet of Natural Armour +1X2 - sell both as we Lucid does not really want one and you guys have one. 2000 gold
Hide Armour +1 - Sell for 1165 gold
+1 Returning Trident - sell for 4157.5
Bracers of Armour +3 - sell for sell for 4500
2 off - Potion of Resist Electricity 20 - Keep and Lucid carries one.
600GP in assorted coin and gems
Totals:
If we keep the Striding boots and sell the Cat boots We have 15222.5 for a split of 5074 each.
If we sell striding boots we have 17472.5 and a split of 5824 each.
If we keep both sets of boots we have 14722.5 and a split of 4907.5 each.
Depending on people's needs we should be able to move gold around to support larger purchases. Note that Lucid is going to try to do quite a bit of crafting for the party as time allows but crafting limits will get in the way. Thoughts?

Was indeed - just trawled through GM Fang's posts - much of the treasure we basically skipped over and didn't react to in our bloodlust lol.
Pays to re-read. We could arguably offer up say the trident and hide armour to broker peace with the lizard folk? (if we think they'll be useful allies down the line?)

Trellar Morbane |

My apologies for my absence. I was in the hospital last week with an unexpected surgery and only just returned to work last night where I found that Paizo is now a blocked site. I will try to keep up with this game as the posting rate is more relaxed than most games. It may be tomorrow before I can get caught up. Please bear with me.

![]() |

FYI - I am traveling for the next week and will be back home on August 30. I'll have limited posting until then, but I should be on some. And after I get back I am headed to Dragon Con on September 3 and will likely not post between the 3rd and 7th.

Sverrïr Koltǫnn |

Busy with Offshore Europe today/tomorrow gents, so please bot Sver as necessary.
Normal service should be resumed by close of play tomorrow.
Cheers

GM Fanguar |

Ok guys, it's been a week since I messaged Trellar and I haven't heard back from him. I guess his work blocking this site has killed his ability to play PbP.
We really can't get by with just 3. Let me know if you know anyone looking for a game and I'll poke about a bit as well, but otherwise I'll have re-recruit on the boards.

Rennaivx |

You guys needed another person? Markus messaged me. Looks like divine casting's what y'all are short on, so I'm thinking maybe a shaman if you guys will have me.
Any particulars for building (level, point buy, etc.)? Any particular story hooks I can latch onto to make a character tie in more strongly?
EDIT: Just read the recruitment thread and saw that you were using Core + Oracle. In that case, I'll build an oracle.

GM Fanguar |

Oh don't worry about the original recruitment that was literally 3 years ago...
If you want to play a shaman go right ahead. 25pt buy standard WBL. You won't start with any weapons or obviously offensive items (the same goes for the PCs) but everyone will be getting their gear back shortly.
For narrative simplicity, we'll just say that your new PC is the missing PC. He was to be a new addition anyways, so it's not a big deal. As far as you know Markus just stabbed an innkeeper and you were all rounded up by the watch as suspects or witnesses. Your PC just needs a reason for being in the inn's common room.
The Greyhawk grand tournament coming up, so wanting to witness that is a pretty good reason for being in town.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Gavie Firelight |

Steal all the loot and generally be a horrible person, got it! :D
By the way, this is my in-progress Flame spirit shaman, probably going with primarily Life spirit as the wanderer so I can have channeling. She's still very much in progress, but I should be done by the end of the day.

Gavie Firelight |

Errated to match the oracle version, actually. And there was much rejoicing. (Yaaay...)
And I'm mostly doing it for channel anyway, not life link. Unless you guys want me to go for the Boots of the Earth/Life Link hack. It was quite handy on my life oracle, but feels slightly cheesy.

![]() |

Glad to hear it was errataed then. It needed to be.
I need a way to keep up with what had been errataed. The way the errata was put out would require me to mark up my physical books in order to understand it and I am not doing that. How does one get on top of all the errata?
That hack mostly heals out of combat and for the price of the boots you can buy almost 7 wands of cure light so its not too much of a hack.

Gavie Firelight |

Yeah, I always kind of forget how expensive they actually are. In the game I used them, we came into a lot of money really early and had basically unlimited time for crafting and two or three people who could do it, including me. We were all so tricked out...
But in normal WBL games without crafters, 5000 is a good bit of money for a fair while. :)

Gavie Firelight |

I mainly use online references for my material - I have several of the books, but I tend to find online references a little easier to use, especially since most of the time I'm already on the computer anyway when I'm putting a character together. So I don't usually have to worry about errata too much, since they get automatically updated on the SRDs.
I agree it's a pain to try and keep on top of errata with printed material, but unfortunately the only way to keep on top of the errata is to buy every re-printing, and that's a pain too.

Markus the Librarian |

Would this be allowed? Usable with Ranged, specifically a bow or crossbow?
Weapon Versatility (Combat)
You can use your favored weapons in unconventional ways.
Prerequisite(s): Weapon Focus, base attack bonus +1
Benefit(s): When wielding a weapon with which you have Weapon Focus, you can shift your grip as a swift action so that your weapon deals bludgeoning, piercing, or slashing damage instead of the damage type normally dealt by that weapon. You may switch back to the weapon's normal damage type or another damage type as a swift action.
If your base attack bonus is +5 or higher, using this feat is a free action instead.

Markus the Librarian |

@Oracle - Cure Disease might be the sweet spot.
These worms, you see... The burrow under your skin seeking your brain. Then you become the walking dead. Happens really quick, like 1d4+1 rounds.
If I'm wrong, that's the sense of dread the DM has instilled.

GM Fanguar |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

That feat is ridiculous. I wouldn't allow it for a melee weapon, let alone a ranged one. Pathfinder splat books are starting to get to 3.5 levels, seriously.
The unchained class options are all fine.
Remove disease is going to pretty much be a necessity, but you can buy potions if you really need to. Actually it takes 1d4+1 rounds for the worm to reach your brain then you suffer 1d4 Int damage until you are dead, which is still pretty bad,

Sverrïr Koltǫnn |

Remove Disease? Pah. Doctor Sverrir's Wormy Triage is the way to go lads! Swig of this and a stab of that and he'll get that maggot o' doom out in a jiffy!
Agree on the feat - crazy flexible. To me if you want that flexibility with your weaponry pick a composite weapon that can deal two types of damage??
Speaking of Unchained classes - am now much more up to speed on these, would consider tweaking Sver into an Unchained Barb if allowed?

GM Fanguar |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

That feat pretty much negates DR at low levels, which is pretty OP to begin with, but considering how many feats and class abilities are tied to using specific weapon types, it's just crazy. Being able to use Hamatula strike with a greatsword, for example.
Switching to the unchained versions of the classes is recommended, as they are all net improvements. The Barb update just makes rage so much more user friendly, plus you don't suddenly die when your rage ends, which is a plus.

Gavie Firelight |

@Fanguar - How do you feel about Boots of the Earth in combination with Life Link? Basically, it lets me heal people to within five hit points of full between fights by taking their damage judiciously, then using the fast healing from the boots to heal it. Basically it becomes an infinite wand of Cure Light Wounds between fights, but it takes longer than the wand would. Sound fair?
And also, I'm still here. :)

Gavie Firelight |

Yeah, sorry, last couple of days have been a little insane for me. But I'm here and I should be ready to go now, pending final GM examination of course.
EDIT: Also, is it all right if I go ahead and dot into Gameplay so it's easier to see new posts?

Gavie Firelight |

Probably not a terrible thing, but I'm lawful good and strive for neatness and adherence to the social order. :)

Unchained Rogue is cool, but it assumes Finesse Rogue and Marcus happens to be my only Strength Rogue EVER!
Marcus, I converted my PFS strength rogue yo unchained. There is no down side and you at least pick up the ability to add conditions to your sneak attack damage. Plus you can pick a weapon for finesse and if you ever have strength drain you can surprise someone. My rogue has a bite attack and can finesse that.

Sverrïr Koltǫnn |

Rogue with bite attack... do tell :)
Okay I'm going to convert Sver to Unchained... will defo make his rage and drunkeness slightly easier to crunch :)
Slammed at work so bear with me - will be closer to the weekend afore my decks are cleared. Will post but sporadically!
