LOL - Yeah I know what you mean GM-Fang but had figured I should keep a hand free to use Rage Powers linked to drinking etc... but I suppose I could just take one hand off the weapon to drink etc? Know as the AP progresses Sver will have to hit more like a train, so 2H attack makes sense...
Mattock sounds pretty cool for a miner? As you suggested previously perhaps the following:
Deep in his cups Sverrir swears vengeance against Smenk and only one weapon will do, Stonesplitter, ancestral mattock of the Koltonn clan. Forged from the first iron ore mined by the forfather of the Koltonns, this ancient mattock is rough and pitted from centuries of tunneling. In the hands of one of the blood, it servers as a +1 Mattock and through secret rituals known only to the family, it can be bound to the wielder, growing with power over time. No believing himself worthy of it, Stonesplitter has been moldering at the bottom of a chest in Sverrir's house since his father was killed.
Since its discovery the ancient weapon has become a channel for Sverrir's rage (gaining the Furious power), and he can enter his berserk state without the aid of alcohol whilst holding the ancestral weapon...
What ye reckon boss?

Sigh. I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings Sverrir, but Furious is a +1 enhancement that has to be added to a +1 weapon. This makes the cost of the upgrade 6000 gold. Its like buying a +2 weapon. I know, I am a party pooper. :(

HEL'S FECKING TEETH! :Z
THIS is why buying and making magic items is my total pet hate... I'm of the school of "Let the AP or game give you what you get and roll with it"... ARGGGH!
Right - will reign in the venting and dwur-up lol...
Removing the Furious power and frankly doing bugger all else with my gear (that includes shields :)
GM-Fang - you okay with Sver changing his newly acquired 2000GP for 4 off 500GP Alexandrite gemstones? Makes it easier to carry the wealth :)

OK. I finally have updated my character and and ready to get back to the game. Sorry for my absence. I never intended to be away so long, but things have been pretty busy and somehow the task of figuring out exactly how much money I had to spend and what to get became an obstacle. I'll have a game play post up after lunch today.

Okay last time I mention this... lol
2000GP (gained from flawed plan for Furious Weapon ability) + 1038GP (change left) = 3038GP
Making Stonesplitter an (aptly) Adamantine +1 Mattock: +3K to +1 magic enhancement cost.
Leaves me with 38GP + 300GP I was spending to MW the weapon... (adamantine are already MW)
Will gift Lucid 300GP for his troubles and keep the 38GP for pocket change?
Thoughts??

Am thinking we try and find their trail? If we cannot, then head South to the lair...
Them heading East is either an attempt to shake off pursuers - or they have another rendezvous first.
Given that we've just had a bunch of fractured evil religions working together for a greater evil (so to speak) its not outwith the bounds that these lizard folk also working in tandem with some other faction??
My 2 runes worth

Happy New Year Gents! Here's to a great 2015 to you all and more (mis)adventures under the guidance of GM-Fanguar :)

Aye that was the plan until we ploughed on through the mire... now looks like something else is lurking or even hunting in the murk...
Moving toward solid ground would be a good shout - slow and steady, cautious and ready...

Random is fine for me. Makes sense to put Lucid at the start or end to make rest for spell prep easier.
And thanks for your thought and prayers last week. We lost my father. He was a pretty great man and while he was 80, his death was unexpected. He died of a heart attack with no prior history of heart trouble and just after being checked out for chest pains where he received a clean bill of health. Both EKG and Stress test were normal.

Sverrïr Koltǫnn |

With regards watch orders Sver would probably be best utilising his dark vision in the night?
@Lucid: So very sorry to hear it was your dad. My own dad is 72 and has onset Alzheimers which takes more and more of the man he was and is - little by little. This festive has been really tough on all of us, but I count my blessings that I still have him.

1 person marked this as a favorite. |

My grandmother (My dad's' mother) had Alzheimers and it grew worse and worse with each passing year (It never gets better of course, but there are meds now that can slow its progress.) When she died she did not know any of us and had been in a nursing home for 2 years. My dad feared that more than death. He did have a little dementia and sometimes stubbled to remember works. He was a historian and public speaker and hated he was loosing that gift, but he was a long way from disabled by that condition.
Thanks all for the condolences. Its amazing the empathy that exists between gamers on these boards. I am grateful for that. Well, on that cheery note, we return you to your regular scheduled swamp trek and lizard man hunt.

So, based on the narrated battle Lucid has very few spells left. But I feel that had we fought it out things would have moved more quickly and he would not have used so many of his resources. What do you think about giving each spell he had memorized a 1 in 3 chance of still being available to him? Otherwise I am basically out of spells now.

Hey folks - am absolutely slammed at work at the moment - will try and get something in-game when I can, but please DMPC as necessary.
Hopefully things will calm down a little by the weekend at the latest!
Cheers

Sorry about the slow posting guys - RL's giving me no change at the moment - work's been busy then one of my offshore guys managed to graciously pass on his winter flu to me - so I sit here typing with a head full of snot and lungs of fire...
Will try and post as/when

Ok. Lucid is ready to move on. The question seems to be are we better off exploring until we trigger an encounter? Or should be strike, gaining surprise for at least our first fight in here. If we are going to strike, give Lucid a chance to use his wand of Shield first.
